A traditional Old English style Tea Room set in the historic market town of Shipston-on-Stour, on the edge of the Cotswolds. A wide range of traditional home baked cakes and meals with Mrs B's Cream Tea being a particular favourite with customers. A warm
We had one granary roll with sausage and one baked potato with tuna mayo plus a pot of tea each.Food and service were both good but at £17.40 we felt it was expensive.Looking online at the prices it should have been £15.10.....Hello, Would you be as kind as to let me know when you visited so that I can investigate what happened please. Please e-mail me at [email protected] you.Rick AllenMrs Browns Tea Rooms

In a world inundated with celebrity chefs, gastro pubs and misaligned Michelin stars its bloody refreshing to find an old fashioned English pub serving old fashioned âpub grubâ. Weâve wasted a bucket of money (on a holiday from Australia) on the aforementioned overrated rip offs and more by good luck than good judgment we found âThe Ploughâ. Salvation at at last, old, small, out of the way and yet extremely rewarding. Great atmosphere, great food and even better hosts make it a Cotswold winner. Could not recommend it any higher, best meal in a long time. Thank you for this delightful review, we hope you had a safe journey back to OZ !

The George has been around for as long as anyone can remember, but in early 2016 it was been treated to a huge makeover including all 15 en-suite bedrooms. Standing proudly in the centre of Shipston High Street, it still remains as the tallest building on

Currently closed for the season, but keep an eye out in October 2019 for something special for Christmas. Think mulled wine, delicious cake, warm fire and all your Christmas shopping sorted. Thank you for all your support
What a wonderful place to sit and while away a summer afternoon sipping imperial earl grey (the best, most fragrant and punchy I've ever tasted) eating homemade sausage rolls with crunchy coleslaw, followed by lime and coconut cake - think lemon drizzle topping - but lime with a bouncy sponge laced with coconut - and the piece de resistance was freshly baked apricot scone with clotted cream and homemade rhubarb and ginger jam. What a smorgasbord of delights Trudie whips up for us to enjoy ....Thank you so much Banbury DiK for such a lovely review. I couldnât have wished for more. Iâm so glad you enjoyed it, I will keep trying to surprise you with new tasty recipes!

We are a friendly family run pub. We try to use locally sourced products and all our food is cooked fresh to order. The pub has a fantastic garden with a river at the bottom. We are child & dog friendly though both need to have well behaved grown-ups with
Called in for lunch this week and took my mum and my dog. We both had the steak pie and chips and it was absolutely delicious. We were told there would be a 20 min wait which was fine it meant it was being cooked fresh and we were in no rush, we went out in the beer garden and enjoyed the weather. It was a hot day and without asking a fresh bowl of clean water was brought over for my dog which she appreciated and I thought that it the kind of attentive service that it lacking nowadays. The small team were so friendly and welcoming and its a shame I don't live closer to this pub as I would be there more frequently. If you are going to the area I would recommend you go here to eat. There is amble car parking a cosy bar area, large restaurant and plenty of room outside and for me great food and great service s a winner everytime. Thank you Cherington ArmsThank you so much for your positive write up. We are a small team but we enjoy working together and our aim is to cook and present the best meal possible for you the customer and four legged friends are just as welcome and in the weather we had a bowl of water was the least we could do. Hope fully if you find your way in our parts we might see you again.Thank you again and I am glad you enjoyed your visitTracy

A great traditional coaching Inn near the cotswolds, serving great pub food, local real ales from Hook Norton and a traditional Sunday Carvery.
The service was pleasant and friendly. We were able to order a small rump steak which was delicious. This meant we had room for the pudding, and a delicious brownie it was too! There are tables at the back, plenty of places in the Bar and Restaurant and it has a decent sized car park too.

The Bower House is in the historic market town of Shipston on Stour, at the northern edge of the Cotswolds, 10 miles from Stratford-upon-Avon. Our Grade II-listed building, originally built in 1731, has been painstakingly and lovingly restored. The ground
Firstly, The Bower House needs to update itâs website. We looked at this when deciding to eat here and thought £15.00 for a main course Sunday lunch sounded like a fair price given the standard of this restaurant with rooms. We have both stayed and eaten here before and been highly impressed. So we booked a table for 4 people at 1.00pm on Sunday. We were surprised to see that the Sunday roast was priced at £16.50 but pleased that Roast Beef and Yorkshire Pudding was on offer. However, when as we were about to order we were told there was only one Roast Beef left. The other roasts were belly pork and nut roast. I know belly pork is highly fashionable but it is very low in price compared to roasting beef. However, there was little else on the menu we wanted, we had set our hearts on roast beef, so even though we would never normally eat belly pork we did order it, with the one remaining roast beef. There was very little pork in my portion but by the time I had extracted it from the fat, the other two did marginally better. Just how hard can it be to work out that given these choices the majority of customers would choose roast beef on a Sunday? We would not consider 1.00pm to be a late time for Sunday lunch. However, our grandson enjoyed his roast beef and the three of us enjoyed our vegetables, if not our belly pork. At no point did the manager come to ask us how we were enjoying the meal, had he done so we would have let him know the above. However, as the waitress brought the bill she did ask and my husband told her we were disappointed that roast beef was not on the menu. If we do book Sunday lunch again we will ask if roast beef is on the menu and order it as we book.

We met up with family at The Norman Knight for Sunday lunch.I'm glad we arrived at midday because parking is limited within the Restaurant car park but there is plenty of kerbside parking available within a matter or yards.Quite busy but we were still met with a friendly wellcome and shown to our table. Efficient service with a smile throughout combined with good food from a varied menu.Would recommend. Remember to book in advance for Sunday lunch.Hi TonyThank you for taking the time to write us a review. So glad you had a great time and we very much appreciate your recommendation.

We visited on my birthday earlier in the year as I love scouting out Donnington pubs. I was made to feel extremely unwelcome. Having waited patiently the best part of 5 minutes for the barmaid to cease idle chit chat with the locals at the bar, I noticed she whispered something under her breathe which was aimed in my direction. When she finally did acknowledge me, I asked if they were serving food to which she curtly replied âNoâ. As I left the bar, I heard an older couple enquire about food and I overheard the barmaid offer them a choice of sandwiches! If youâre under 50, donât expect anything less than a frosty reception and appalling manners!I am very sorry that you had this experience here. I have messaged you directly. I would like to offer you a meal. Again I am truly sorry and I have spoken to all staff members Jess

Called in for breakfast and please we did. Both wife and I had the Pantry Breakfast, a full English plus, which came freshly cooked with local ingredients and it was excellent. Could of had a fair choose from the breakfast menu. Lunch menu commences midday and we will certainly return to try, although the Sunday Roast menu is on the list of must try. Friendly service, very clean interior and nice sun garden. Interesting shop and wine selection, glasses or bottles can be enjoyed with your breakfast or lunch. Set within a converted post office this charming cafe-come-restaurant is certainly worth a visit, or two.It was lovely to meet you yesterday and thank you for sharing you enjoyable experience with others.
