First visit here today. Overall food was nice. Salmon tartare very nice but didnât get the chicken liver parfait. Very sweet . The roast beef very nice as was the belly pork but portions could have been a bit larger. After part of our table was cleared we were given the desert menu. We then sat there for over 20 minutes while staff passed us numerous times. We had finished our drinks and would have liked pudding but no one seem to be bothered. In the end we asked someone for the bill which arrived in seconds. £200 for Sunday roast for 5 of us. The concept is good as is the food on the whole however the front of house in this occasion really let the place down. Even when we left nobody bothered to say thanks or goodbye or more importantly how was our meal.

The Highwayman Inn is located in a beautiful hamlet near Checkendon, on the Berkshire, Oxfordshire border, only an hour from London and 20 minutes from Reading and Henley on Thames. The pub dates back to the 16th century and still retains some of its orig
Sunday lunch was excellent. The lamb was delicious and very tender, the Yorkshire puddings crispy and very tasty indeed. The gravy really made the meal as well as the excellent desserts. Having eaten dinner here the lunch was equally as good. Good atmosphere and really friendly, helpful staff.

Jesse outdid himself once again. The whole pub celebrated the Chinese New Year with style. The atmosphere was crackling, the food was abundant and outstanding (as per usual) and the care Jesse showed every individual table was incredible. A fantastic evening as always!

Called in for a coffee whilst wandering round the town. When we had a look at the menu we decided to stop for lunch. Eggs Benedict, coffee and coffee and walnut cake later we left very happy and satisfied. The eggs Benedict was cooked perfect with beautiful hollandaise sauce. The cake was moist and delicious. Definitely will visit here again.

Warm friendly and welcoming, it has a restaurant that serves good traditional pub grub that is well presented, served up by very friendly staff. We have eaten in the restaurant before but on this occasion we ordered six fish and chip take away suppers as we were visiting by boat.We pre ordered the food and it was ready on time as arranged. Without exception, everybody said that it was probably the best fish and chips they had eaten !!We will definitely visit again.

We are passionate about steak and have left no stone unturned in our quest to deliver the ultimate steak experience at the Herd. Flavour and tenderness are of premier importance to us and everything we do is designed to provide you with the ultimate steak
If youâre a fully signed up carnivore like me youâll love this restaurant. They cook the steak in the main dining area over an open apple wood fire and then prepare the dish in front of you, great theatre .The Chateaubriand is delish, so smooth, juicy and flavoursome. The Porterhouse is also a great choice.Starters are also good. Itâs not a huge menu but just enough. All very reasonably priced for what you get.Itâs situated inside the Elephant Hotel in Pangbourne, not a large place so would definitely advise to book.Marius and the front of house staff looked after us very well.I would highly recommend giving it a try

Arrived to find car park full, only space for about 10 cars so had to park in station car park. alright as long as it isn't raining. Must book a table at weekends as it's so busy. There were 10 of us in the party and we had to pre-order our starter and main course a week before. Bearing this in mind the service was aweful. We waited over 40 minutes for our starters. One of our party wasn't served and when the waitress asked in the kitchen, was told they had run out but that was at least 20 mintes after we had been served. The point being we had pre-ordered!! Our main course took another hour. I ordered Dover Sole but it was not cooked properly, the underside was definitely not shown the grill. There were mixed comments about other meals. Duck cooked perfectly, potatoes undercooked.Dear Ros, Thank you for leaving a review. I am so sorry to hear of your sub-par experience. As a business, this is not the standard that we hold ourselves to. I would like to understand more about your time with us.If you would be so kind as to give me a call on 01189844494, I would greatly appreciate discussing your reservation and hopefully arrange a possible return in the future. Kind Regards, Sophie Lucas

Nestling in the small idyllic village of Whitchurch-on-Thames, and just a few yards from the Toll Bridge, is The Ferryboat. A beautiful 18th century country bar and restaurant thatâs packed with atmosphere. With an established reputation for serving fine
Visited whilst staying in Pangbourne. A short walk over the toll bridge passing the meadows and boat embarkation point and the lock. Across the road is the Church in Whitchurch. Arriving as the football was starting we were easily able to get a table. Service friendly and capable, sadly some of the specials had finished but plenty of choice. Lovely presentation of our meal and wine as not driving, there is a car park available. Very relaxed and good value.
