We decided to go on road trip because it was a sunny day. We went on a Sunday for a roast dinner. You DO have to book as it was fully booked and very busy. We choose to sit in the garden. What a beautiful setting and view. Lovely staff and very helpful and friendly. The roasts where good and tasty just only grumble was not much vegetables as you can see in the picture other than that it was perfect proper pub and definitely go for a drink on a sunny day!

We were recently taken for lunch by some friends to this beautiful pub in Henley, near Midhurst. It was a glorious day so we sat outside on the decking with the most fabulous view of the hills in the distance. It really was the most idyllic setting and coupled with good food and drink made for a delightful occasion for catching up.The approach through woodland is delightful and the pub itself lies half hidden in the surrounding woods. There is ample car parking and there is a pretty garden providing pleasant sitting areas. Generally this pub has everything and the friendliness of staff and the service is perfect....enjoy your visit if in the area and looking for a pub offering that little bit extra.....

The Coffee House serves a wide selection of choice coffees and teas; breakfasts, delicious lunches; morning coffees and cakes and traditional English afternoon teas. We also have an extensive takeaway menu. We try to offer a varied selection, but if we do
I called in for lunch before meeting a friend for afternoon tea. Gartons is situated in the Old Town Hall and the decor is light and airy with some of the old features still intact. As it was a gorgeous hot day I sat outside on the terrace area which overlooked the Church and some of Midhurstâs oldest buildings. My cheese and pate platter was delicious and the service was excellent. Prices were reasonable and the tables werenât too close together. When I later met up with my friend for tea she suggested a great place in the Square...and it turned out to be Gartons! My cake was lovely and fresh and beautifully presented.Next time I visit Midhurst I will call in again and I have already recommended Gartons to friends. Many thanks for your kind review and comments. I'm glad you enjoyed your visit and that our service was up to scratch! This is probably the best time of year to enjoy our ideallic setting, so we hope to see you again soon.Kind regards, Steve Franks

Welcome to The Olive & Vine. A fun, casual bar & restaurant. We offer a casual and relaxed dining environment. Serving a variety of food and delicious cocktails. A great place to meet for a quick catch up with friends or something more intimate with a lov
Once again as every year for the Goodwood Revival we âmigrateâ from Italy to the conservatory of this romantic restaurant to relax and enjoy their warm hospitality and good quality food. They are open to flexibility and always smiling when we ask something different from the menu or a specific dietary needs. Both the personnel and the chef are âcustomer orientedâ and they satisfied all our request: fresh vegetable sautè at the moment without garlic instead of French fries and a real ârareâ tender steak with two different sauces. Next year weâll book again for sure weâll in advance

Welcoming, family-friendly and dog-friendly pub. We have a lovely relaxed, award winning restaurant that seats aprox 26 for lunch or dinner. We also cater for groups (e.g. walkers and cyclists enjoying the beautiful South Downs National Park nearby). We u
I must apologise to the proprietors of The Elsted Inn for my less than favourable review last time, I hadn't realised everything was prepared from scratch, so I went back for a second go.My friend and I started by sharing a mezzo platter, delicious. nice mix of flavours and textures. Then we both had the ravioli, an unfortunate unavoidable downside to food prepared from scratch is that there can only be one veggie option offered, and one option of most meats. This is more than compensated for by the sheer quality of the offerings. Lemon sponge cake for me, and coffee ice cream for my friend followed, both of which were prefect. We didn't book in advance which meant we had the only available table next to the Trotton fete committee jamboree, with lots of loud voices and people squeezing past. This isn't a criticism of the pub in the least, business is business, but next time we will book and ask for the table by the door if there is a big party booked in. I would think mid week would be quieter rather than a Saturday. Attentive staff without being too intrusive. Fabulous food. very reasonable price at seventy pounds with drink for three courses, for a meal cooked while you wait and not microwaved. One of my places of choice on the rare occasions I eat out. Don't miss it.Dear Bellerophon c,I can't thank you enough for trying us out again, and writing a second review to note your altered opinion. We are lucky to have lovely customers who leave great reviews - but, of course, we have the occasional poor review. I am really humbled that you apologised, and can only assume that we didn't explain the menu (or other things) properly to you on your previous visit. Thanks for coming back! I am delighted that you had a lovely time, and enjoyed your meal. That evening was more chaotic than normal, partly due to the fete 'after-party', so I am grateful that you were able to be understanding, and had a lovely meal despite the 'mayhem'. As you rightly state, we are normally a little quieter and have less moving around the restaurant. Hope to see you again.Best wishes,Thais

Lovely welcome by friendly staff, good service and nice surroundings.Priced reasonably and lots of choice.Cake was lovely and fluffy, I wouldâve preferred a slightly stronger flavour of coffee in my coffee cake, and the flat white was more like a latte. But this was just a preference, but perfectly adequate.

A lovely delicatessen and cafe situated in the old part of town. All our fillings, cakes, quiche, soups and salads are made here on site by Ryan, Karen and Beverley. We serve very good coffee, using beans from Edgecumbes in Arundel and more importantly, a
Third or fourth visit for quick takeaway.Midhurst is an attractive, prosperous, small Sussex town with history and charm, and a gateway to the South Downs.Service impeccable, quick, charming, efficient. My egg and bacon baguette, on one occasion, was cooked just the way I asked, just the way I like it, and you might be surprised to learn that, in my extensive experience, something so standard can be ruined by indifference, incompetence, or practice all too prevalent in this country. Not here it's not!Food: clearly quality fresh ingredients, generously-filled and fairly-priced, and tasty, very very tasty.Cappo: excellentThey obviously know what they are about, and it shows. You might also be tempted by their array of biscuit tins, honey, and other similar delights. If only others could get their act as together as Comestibles have theirs!See you again, hopefully, when I'm passing.

Visited this pub for the first time today and had a great sandwich lunch. A traditional country inn this place is off the beaten track and in a glorious setting. It was a lovely sunny day today so we ate outside with our dog - the pub is very dog-friendly. The garden setting is lovely and inside very quaint. We arrived just after 12.00 and glad we were early - the pub got gradually more busy and clearly popular. The pub has a good selection of well-kept beers and the menu is simple but well-priced. We had egg-mayo and alsombacon and fried egg sandwiches - these came with rustic chips and salad. Good portions. A great lunch at a good price in a lovely setting - give it a try and it won't disappoint.

The Dean Inn, formerly the Dean Ale and Cider House, has been relaunched into an a la carte styled restaurant with rooms. Located near to Chichester, we offer 6 beautiful rooms, enjoyable food and service in the heart of the West Dean Valley.
Four of us arrived in the restaurant (without booking) midweek and were eventually shown to a table. The lady was friendly and helpful but no one seemed in charge and there was a lot of coming and going with presumably staff around the back of the bar area. The starters were fine (I had pigeon breast which was well cooked) but the mains were very slow in arriving and generally average in quality. There was no real atmosphere in the establishment and we got the impression the staff were leaderless and just going through the motions with no incentive to go the extra mile etc.
