A welcoming local pub with lots of regular customers who, with the landlord, treat tourists with cheer and friendliness. Large portions of hearty food which is tasty and interesting. My friend and I shared a starter of pate of which there was plenty. My local meaty sausages were excellent with gravy, veggies and ginormous Yorkshire pudding. I couldn't eat all the mashed potato. I had a simple lemon sponge (my choice of no custard, ice cream etc) which was lovely: light and plenty of it !Would love to go again. My next visit, no doubt.

This is a staple for a walk and burger from Losty/ afternoon ice-cream stop / early dinner! Angie is lovely. Do not let theb'burger van'put you off! The setting amazing - especially if you can get the front few tables. ( But under shade at the back if you need ) . I also really like that it is all served in mugs / plates and real cutlery so environmentally friendly. Bring cash! You can kayak up to the shore here.

Iâve never left a review before but felt compelled to do so after my visit to the Earl of Chatham. Following local advertisements for a quiz, I called to confirm and was advised that it would start at 9.00 on Tuesday. My partner and I booked a table for food beforehand as it was most convenient and had read positive reviews. However, we arrived shortly before our booking time and we werenât led to the table but told from the bar more or less where to sit. Our table was directly next to the ladies toilet, the door of which didnât close so for the duration of the meal we were forced to deal with noises and smells from the toilet. We and other patrons therefore stepped up to close the toilet door throughout the evening. We waited 15 minutes to receive a menu and a table who arrived after us received theirs first. The food was average despite being fairly expensive - £15 for Chinese style sea bass and chips. Also, we were given wine glasses rather than champagne flutes for our Prosecco. This also arrived 5 minutes after our dinner. On finishing our meal, we went to sit outside and waited for the quiz to begin. We asked several times about a start time and, from being assured it would begin at 9.20, we were eventually told it wasnât on. We are staying in Lostwithiel for a holiday and were looking forward to a good evening out. I would tell anyone to give this pub a miss and visit The Globe Inn down the road instead.

With a first class selection of garden plants, an award-winning cafe and a sumptuous shop, you can dabble with horticulture, treat yourself to a delicious meal or make some enviable purchases for your home and garden. Alternatively, just enjoy a coffee an
Lovely location, and the nursery is full of interesting well kept plants. Not so impressed with the cafe though. The prices looked reasonable. Admittedly we only shared cream tea and teacakes so can't review the whole menu, but the already buttered brown teacakes were thin and squashed flat, and the jam and cream were in 'oversized thimble' jars; the teapots were tiny (just one and a bit cups). I suspected they were looking after our health. Plus point: another thimble of cream was provided on request by a very pleasant waiter. I wouldn't say I'm an afficionado of cream teas, but I enjoy them regularly as a treat at different venues, so I do compare -and this was disappointing.Hello and thanks for the review and I'm sorry to read about the amount of tea! As you can imagine, we serve an enormous amount of cakes and cream teas or just pots of tea which are generally fully enjoyed by many happy customers. If we got something wrong on this occasion then please do accept my apologies. I will look into this with the café team as you should have had, or received provision of, more than enough tea!

Having visited the beautiful Golitha waterfalls, we tried this well rated pub/Inn in the picturesque Lostwithiel, one of our favourite places in Cornwall. The young lady who greeted us was so nice and friendly and we indulged in a Fowey G & T and for me a Tribute. It's a lovely pub with ample parking, a well looked after garden with pretty hanging baskets. My wife had the falafel burger with sweet potato fries and I had a cheese burger with fries. Both were served with yummy coleslaw and the meals were marvellous. Very well priced, excellent service throughout and a given that we will return soon.

OK, so Lostwithiel is not the âfoodie capital of Cornwallâ nor is it amongst the trendiest of destinations in this tourist mecca but Asquiths makes the place well worth visiting! On finding that our holiday cottage was â361 ftâ from the restaurant we really had no excuse.A warm welcome followed by complimentary olives/mushrooms/tomatoes set the tone very nicely and swiftly followed by a glass of our chosen wine...my wife asked for a glass of Malbec which was provided without quibble even though it was not on the âby the glassâ list. The menu is nicely short (4/5 choices per section) but with plenty of variety. Food was beautifully presented and bursting with flavour. The stress that Asquiths places on sourcing quality local ingredients led us to expect something a bit special but we were delighted with just how special it turned out to be. This is high quality dining but with sensibly sized portions (by which I mean that you actually get properly fed unlike with âup itselfâ cuisine). I could rave on about my menu choices but, given my wifeâs reactions, hers were just as exceptional so weâre confident that everything else will be just as good...in fact weâre going back before we leave just to make sure! The damage came to £90 (plus tip) and, although weâre from Yorkshire, we considered that amazing value for money! The only question we were left with is...where are you all? OK, Thursday evening on what turned out to have been the hottest day of the year, ever, (everywhere except this part of Cornwall BTW) but we were the only diners! Please patronise this place if you get the chance...it would be criminal if it were to disappear because itâs a bit off the fashionable trail.

My wife and I was staying at a local B&B within in walking distance on Wednesday/Thursday evening and decided on the 18th to visit Trewithen as having read Tripadvisor reviews. We started the evening of complimentary bread with Cornish butter/Olive Oil and Balsamic/Curried Butter( excellent) followed with starters of local Fowey Mussels £7.50 ( the best fat meaty mussels we've had for ages... terrific). For mains ( choice of 2 extra side dishes) Grilled Hake Fillet on Saffron Risotto, Brown Shrimp &Smoked Chilli Salsa £20.00 plus my choice of Vegetables and Cornish Dauphinois ( lovely fish and risotto plus my greedy Dauphinois... I ate toooo much). My wife had the Battered Fish with Pea and Mint Crush, Home made Caper Mayonnaise and Chunky Chips £15.00 ( she said everything was excellent but could not eat all the chips.. Shame they were lovely crispy and fluffy inside). To accompany our meal we had a 250 ml glass of Sauvignon Blanc £9.30 , 175ml Malbec £6.10. Their service was attentive and pleasant with no service charge.
