This is not real or authentic fish and chips. I say again: this is not real or authentic. This was the worse food experience I have had in quite some time. If anyone thinks this place rates 5 stars, then any Long John Silver's deserves 10 stars. I got the standard fish and chips. It cost $10.95. Out came a small oval plate with some fries, a long thin hunk of battered fish, a lemon wedge, and a small container of tartar sauce. Let me start with the only good things: the place was clean and the malt vinegar was good. The decor was nice but I always fear a place that goes overboard on decor because usually their food is not good. You get flimsy plastic wear utensils. The lemon wedge was small and dry. The tartar sauce was without a doubt institutional, I am fairly certain it was Heinz. The fries were junk frozen and I only got 18 fries on my plate (yes, I counted them). Authentic Brit fish and chips serve thick fresh cut fries double fried, not frozen junk out of a 5lb bag.. The fish gives an illusion of being large because of the small plate. I pulled the fish apart and found a shriveled up thin piece of unknown fish inside. I am fairly certain it was cheap low quality tilapia. Any respectable fish and chips British dish uses either cod or haddock - a thick fish fillet, not the skimpy guppy this place is selling. You get about 4 ounces of fish along with 6 ounces of breading with this order. It is outrageous that they charge $10 for this tiny quantity. I could have eaten three of these meals. Take $10 and go to any LJS and you will get two better quality fish fillets, fries, hush puppies and cole slaw for the same price that will outshine this poor, pathetic attempt at fish and chips. This is not even close to being the "real thing" as some others claim. I would go to negative ratings if possible with this horribly overpriced, low quality, small portion of fish and chips. This serving would be scorned by anyone who has had authentic British fish and chips, which I have eaten. Shame on this place for putting forth such a poor product. NOTE: I was there during the noon lunch hour. I was the only person inside during my meal until two folks came in when I was leaving. Save your money. You are truly better off at Long John Silvers, which is testimony to this terrible take on fish and chips. Also, the girl working wore some type of short gym shorts that were quite unprofessional.

maybe not the right style of cooking for my taste and felt heavy after eating there. Really neat setting and location in town
Cappuccinos, lattes, mochas, coffees and a large selection of teas; Cream teas, gateaux and pastries; Full English breakfast served daily.
Went here for lunch with a friend. Having only just moved to this area we went to explore Lewes and ended up in here for lunch. Good selection to choose from at very reasonable prices. We each had baguettes and they were very tasty. I have since returned only for a coffee. Their lattes are lovely. Served really hot!! Very pleasant and friendly staff. Everyone makes a bee line for a window seat overlooking the river.
