Let me say in opening that this is a neutral review in respect of previous comments made by others. I was also told by my friend who lives locally that we should expect generous portions and an excellent atmosphere. Neither was in evidence.Visited as a couple Saturday evening 6th October just about 7.30 p.m. Trade was very light. Charming lady behind the bar on being asked what the soup of the day was, told me vegetable and she had made it last Monday. ( Hardly Fresh) Chose not to partake.Ordered lasagne, salad and garlic bread plus a chilli con carne and battered mushroom with dips to share. Two apologies later for the length of waiting time, no garlic bread but, unrequested and not shown on menu as a choice chips instead. I was told that the chef was new and one member of staff had not turned up. Hence long delays. On the subject of the garlic bread which was absent was told with apology that the fiancée of the employee was doing the cooking and a customer was helping out, clearly staffing issues.Lasagne had been over baked and lot of crunchy pasta, garlic bread as mentioned didnât turn up and I was told by my companion that the chilli con carne had the flavour that it had come out of a jar.Asking for pudding learned that it was Spotty Dick or Treacle pudding-neither appealed..In my opinion, the new management should not have taken over the reins until a true and professional service could be implemented, this is what I had been led to expect. So as I said in opening this is a neutral review. New management been in for only a few days but clearly not yet ready for high demand on the kitchens. In my sight whilst there only one other table had dinners but more people were coming in and looking at menuâs.I do wish them well. This is a true genuine review of the visit. I am an experienced assessor regularly carrying out assessments of restaurants and hotels internationally as an inspector and âmystery shopperâ.Dear Safenoble,Many thanks for your very constructive review. Yes, it was the Management Teams very first week, and as a small group of pubs we do expect to hit some sharp learning curves when new managers regardless of experience, take on a new challenge.I am sure that Ally and her fiancee Chris will strive to do better things, and will learn from your feedback, as well as from my Area Manager that is currently supporting them to settle into their new roles. We've had a huge amount of positive feedback from our feedback cards, but I do feel that some negative (constructive) feedback is much more useful so that as a team, we can grow and develop. Thanks again for your feedback, I hope you'll revisit in a few weeks and give Ally and Chris another opportunity to impress.Kind Regards,Dan.

On our first visit to the restaurant I came away thinking âwowâ. Amazing for the price all the meat and veg were excellent. Absolutely nothing to fault. Came again a few weeks later with friends and family and it couldnât have been more different. The beef was like leather unlike before when it melted in your mouth. The vegetables were ok but nothing special. The gentleman carving the meat just does not want to be there. No interaction at all. We will try again though.

We've eaten here a few times now and on each occasion the food has been good. The staff are friendly, not the fastest service but who cares when you're in for the night! We've met up with friends and had a good night out every time here. This will be our local go-to from now on.

We havenât visited this cafe for some time.....think it was with previous owners then! We had a nice friendly welcome and just ordered flavoured lattes, which were brought to our table overlooking the river. The coffees were a bit disappointing as they were quite a mugful and quite tasteless costing £3.30 each. The disappointing coffees were outweighed by the nice position and nice service, so we hope to return soon. ....the cakes looked nice and there was a good menu for food.

Large friendly pub , serving good wholesome meals, meals start from £4.50. Daily deals available. Dogs welcome . Function room , skittle alley and separate bar with pool table and bt sport. Sunday carvery served 12 till 4pm .
Met friends for Sunday lunch, no complaints good selection of meats and vegetables, however I just about choked on my beer when I was charged £5.40 for a baileys! I did query it but was told that was the price. I dont mind paying my way but thought that was a bit excessive.

Called in for supper after a day out visiting Tavistock and Dartmoor. Lovely staff and owners, very welcoming and friendly. We ordered fish and chips and it was fabulous, well cooked and delicious The bonus of being there on a Thursday was it was 2 for £20, incredible value. Felt like stepping back in time, lovely pub where you could hear a conversation without the loud music, friendly and welcoming atmosphere and good food. We will be back.

Cosy Family run Bistro hidden in the south hams, close to Ivybridge and modbury. A real hidden Gem, fresh local dishes and local ales and gins.
Simply perfect. Great little bistro in a wonderful village setting. Very friendly staff, fresh menu and great wines. The trio of salmon starter was Devine and the duck in a passion fruit sauce was cooked to perfection. All of us agreed that it was a perfect evening in a cosy very friendly bistro. We will be back. Many thanks for taking the time to review your experience. Your comments are much appreciated and we look forward to seeing you again soon.

If you ask for the gluten free option then you will get whatever the normal option is with gluten containing items removed so the roast consisted of boiled potatoes, thinly sliced meat, vegetables and gravy - no roast potatoes, no sausage, no stuffing. Come on - it is really easy to keep gluten free sausages in the freezer and what is wrong with peeling potatoes and roasting them. Poor show for the price.
