In the past Joe's Cafe has been worth the walk up the hill. This time unfortunately, we both left the cafe hungry. We asked twice to be seated and both times we were just left standing in the cafe with no information to when we may be seated. There was an empty table with leftovers on it the whole time that we were standing there. We appreciated that the place was busy and we did all that could be expected from customers. We just got ignored, so we left to find lunch elsewhere. I would give the cafe another try and hopefully write a better review.

The Urchin freehouse is in Belfast Street Hove. We visited to celebrate a family birthday with dinner and werenât disappointed. Itâs a really large pub with a superb menu of seafood and fish. The service was excellent and so too was the food. The prices were reasonable. Very laid back atmosphere but very efficient service from friendly staff. Definitely recommended.

Had an amazing wedding anniversary dinner here last night. It began very well with a tasty crispy chicken skin nibble, then graduated to sublimity with two exceptional larger dishes:Fried chicken, gochujang, sesame, herb slaw, kimchi remouladeTamarind braised lamb shoulder, spinach, feta, mustard seed oilBoth were a snip at under a tenner each. The £22 bottles of Nero d'Avola were also delicious. The overall bill represented excellent value.Only been here for wine/cheese/nibbles before but the dinner options are definitely worth returning for.

In Norfolk Square, The Gingerman Restaurant has a small, intimate dining room and a superb menu of modern British cuisine made with fresh, local produce. Full of unique character, the stylish restaurant possesses a great reputation within the city. With
We'd planned a brief trip to Brighton but Gingerman was fully booked in the evening. We went there to have lunch instead (from a lower cost but much shorter menu), asked about that evening and they said they'd fit us in if we came at 8.30. The staff were friendly and the food of the standard you'd expect from a place with a Michelin star. With a bottle of Bobal we had the pig cheek and clam chowder starters and for mains monkfish and partridge. All shared, for that tasting menu experience. A delicious evening and it seemed a very friendly place, staff and customers. We ended up chatting to the couple on the next table and the staff gave us a little 50th anniversary dessert.

The views are stunning. They do have special nights for food and drink but they need to think about discounting the entrance fee.Hi Dawne, we are a little confused about your review and fear you might have posted to us incorrectly. We are a small, family run restaurant above Igigi General Store on Western Road in Hove. We are not known for our views and we do not charge an entrance fee. We serve lunch and dinner and do not have special nights for food and drink as that is our main operation. Is there a chance you have posted a review to us instead of another business? If that is the case we would be really grateful if you could remove this review from our page as it has negatively affected our TripAdvisor presence. Many thanks and kind regards, Mae

Restaurant by Masterchef winner Steven Edwards Menus focus on using fresh produce from in and around the surrounding Sussex countryside.
Wonderful evening as guests of family friends. The food was outstanding and the service was delightful. We were taken care off by Beth who is incredibly knowledgeable and enthusiastic about the menu and the wines. It would be difficult to single out a particular course for praise but the beef with kohlrabi was sublime. Each individual element of the dining experience marries to create a unique and special event rather than just a meal. We cannot wait to return.

Pub and kitchen based in the Preston Park area of Brighton, serving locally sourced and freshly cooked British cuisine.
I met my sister (and dog) for lunch at The Station and was instantly impressed with the spotless surroundings, and friendly welcome. We chose to share a selection of the Bar Snacks and these were bar snacks par excellence....I am still dreaming about the Ragu and Mash. The food was sublime and I cannot wait to visit again - this time for their Sunday lunch which I am sure will be second to none. Thank you for a lovely Wednesday lunch!
We are a friendly neighbourhood family-oriented cafe-restaurant serving various British and Asian fusion cuisine. The menu is always changing according to the season and customer feedback. Customers are welcome to bring their own wine and beer at any time
Cafe Asia opened a couple of months ago, replacing a previously excellent asian takeaway. The owner(s) spent significant time refurbishing the building, with a nice lick of green paint and turning it into a breakfast and lunch cafe, as well as a takeaway. We met the owner a few times who is lovely and very friendly. The menu was initially confusing; they started serving english breakfast and sandwiches, with a more asian fusion themed menu apparently to follow. We decided to visit after it had been open for a good month or so, as more asian dishes had been added to the menu.I'll start with a few positives, as I feel you need to give people their fair due:-the cafe is quite nice, with good coffee and a friendly atmosphere.-there is seating outside-free wifi-they have some interesting chinese/asian drinks that you might not get in other cafes, including cans of coconut water, various juices with jelly, almond milk etc.-the waitress was lovely and really did her best to make us feel welcomeWe wanted to get some dinner/light snack - we opted for some dumplings and a 'hong kong style pork chop with home made tomato sauce, egg fried rice and veg'.The dumplings were quite nice, albeit very salty, and a tad pricey (£4 for 4; quite a lot considering I get 8 for a fiver at Itsu)The Hong Kong style pork chop was, I'm sad to say, so awful I momentarily thought I'd landed myself in an episode of Kitchen Nightmares.Other than the fried egg rice, I could not figure out what was asian about it; the thick tomato sauce had cheese(?) on it, tasted like it should've been on a pasta dish, the broccoli that came with it inexplicably tasted fishy, and the less said about the poor chewy pig that died for this dish, the better. The waitress explained that this dish is a big hit in Hong Kong - I'm afraid there's no chance of that here. So, the bad:-the menu is confused; is it British? Is it Asian? It also doesn't help that new dishes appear as hastily printed photocopies on the window, making it look like a cheap takeaway.-Though we should try more dishes to get a full picture, the ones we tried don't instill confidence.-Drinks wise it's nice to have asian options, but sometimes you just want a simple soda, like a coke or a sprite.-no clear distinction between the lunch and dinner menus - I've walked past a few times, pondering if I'll get something, but it is unclear whether some of these dishes are 'portable'. It also tries to impress with 'different' dishes, like said Hong Kong Pork and 'egg noodle wrapped fried chicken', yet lacks some of the basic favourites. Where is the satay? Where are the duck rolls? It's a real shame, as the owner is lovely and as I live near, want them to do well. But they really need to sort their menu out, and up the cooking a level.
