Can't recommend this place enough for vegans, veggies and meat eaters alike. The vegan 'fish' is incredible and the chips are the best I've had from a chip shop in years. Worth a visit for everyone no matter what your dietary requirements. And the staff are lush!

Wow. In a fantastic setting looking directly out to sea. New management has really turned this place around. You will not find a friendlier or satisfying welcome anywhere in Whitley Bay! The new menus have proved very popular. A very unpretentious establishment, one feels instantly comfortable and welcome. It does Wednesday Steak nights, Sunday band nights and great fare, particularly on Sunday lunchtimes. Why do I travel 6 miles each way every lunchtime that Iâm in town? Because the feel of the place and the enthusiasm and friendliness of all staff, in a beautiful setting sells itself! I thoroughly recommend this wonderful public house and restaurant! Thank you to the staff for your service. Well impressed! Keep on doing what you are doing; please!RolyLt Col Roly Love MA, CEng FIET, CMGr, FCMI, APMP, GCGI.

We ordered a grilled chicken breast with a sauce, mash and vegetables and I had the fish finger sandwich with double-cooked chips. Great range of beers. Friendly welcome. It's a real local as well as attracting visitors. Both meals were great. My fish finger sandwich looked like home made fish fingers. The chips were excellent so was the tartare sauce. The chicken was delicious apparently. There's a nice community feel- there was a MacMillan coffee morning happening in the other bar. The cakes and coffee looked great. The staff were friendly and really helpful to customers. Food arrived pretty quickly. Portions generous. Everything clean. Prices good. We will be back for the famous pie and chips soon.

A Saturday morning bike ride with a mid point break at the surf café. Perfect. Without a plan of where to stop for a break during our ride out, we saw the surf café and decided it would be ideal. We planned on getting a drink and a cake but as we were ordering a guy in the kitchen brought out some freshly baked cheese scones. I'm not normally the biggest fan but these did looked really good and as they were warm out of the oven I couldn't resist. I'm so glad I did as it was the best cheese scone I've ever had. You could see the melted cheese stretching as I cut it open and pulled it apart. The coffee and the cakes were spot on too. It has a friendly, relaxed atmosphere and is the perfect place to chill. Top marks all round.

Honest food in the heart of Whitley Bay. Garden to plate/nose to tail with a great soundtrack. Good Food Guide 2018
After having a couple of lovely evening meals here we decided to try the Sunday lunch. Starters - choice of three, we had the Isle of Wight tomatoes with breadcrumbs and consommé, and gorgeous grilled peaches with lettuce and prosciutto. We both had beef which was cooked rare and just melted in the mouth. Proper huge homemade Yorkshire and al dente veg. Clearly the chef has a lot of talent, couldnât recommend it enough.
