Reviews on British food in Craigavon, Northern Ireland, United Kingdom. Craigavon (/kreɪˈɡævən/ kray-GAV-ən; Irish: Creag Abhann) is a planned settlement in northern County Armagh, Northern Ireland. Its construction began in 1965 and it was named after Northern Ireland's first Prime Minister: James Craig, 1st Viscount Craigavon. It was intended to be the heart of a new linear city incorporating Lurgan and Portadown, but this plan was abandoned and less than half of the proposed work was done. Among locals today, "Craigavon" refers to the area between the two towns. It is built beside two artificial lakes and is made up of a large residential area (Brownlow), a second smaller one (Mandeville), plus a central area (Highfield) that includes a substantial shopping centre, a courthouse and the district council headquarters. The lakes, a wildlife haven, are surrounded by woodland with walking trails. There is also a watersports centre, petting zoo, golf course and ski slope in the area. In most of Craigavon, motor vehicles are completely separated from pedestrians, and roundabouts are used extensively.

Hubby and I called into Pretty Mary's on our way to catch the Liverpool Ferry. Like other reviewers we found the place quite dated and, because Royal Ascot was on, there was some serious betting going on. Don't let that put you off, because we both had one of the tastiest meals, well cooked food and with good service and reasonably priced. We'd definitely return again if we were passing. We both visited the toilets on our way out and, again, they were both spotlessly clean.

Called here after 3pm on a Monday and as they close at 4pm they still served us ok. We had scones and coffee. I would highly recommend the rhubarb and ginger scones - delicious. Presentation was excellent- butter, jam and cream. Staff member serving us was pleasant.

Ballydougan Pottery Restaurant. Open Monday - Saturday 9.00am - 5.00pm. Evenings available for Family Celebrations, Group Outings etc. Weddings and Corporate Events a speciality. Breakfast served 9.00am - 12.00noon.Lunch 12.00noon - 3.00pm. Afternoon Tea
Every time I visit I am never left disappointed. The staff are welcoming attentive and friendly. The menus are thoughtfully prepared with daily seasonal specials. The food is freshly prepared with excellent presentation and satisfactory portion size. I will definitely be back and recommend if you are in the area taking time to enjoy a meal or coffee and treat.

Visiting friends who took us here for an evening meal. While the decor is lovely and the staff efficient and friendly I am afraid the food did not match up. My wife's prawn cocktail was very basic with only lettuce and cucumber as a base for the prawns, and her duck had no vegetables served with it. My pork chop had one carrot and one parsnip. Any extra vegetables needed to be purchased as extras at £3.50 per portion! I was going to have a steak, but objected to paying £25.00 just for the steak - again any sauces/chips/potatoes etc. were £3.50 per portion. Having to go upstairs to the bar area to order our meal and then back down to the restaurant was a pain, and will cause considerable problems to the less able bodied.Overall this restaurant does not deserve the reputation it appears to have. It serves overpriced mediocre food - will not be back.
A better spot you wont find. Fantastic service, brilliant staff, and the food is top notch. From meals, snack to simply a coffee and cake, you wont go wrong.Excellent surroundings, and if your a biker, its topped off with some of the best new and used bikes. You have to go,Many thanks for taking the time to leave us a lovely review

Great setting , friendly courteous staff , quick service , appetising choice for starter and dessert. Unfortunately roast beef quite chewy - a little more tender would make a great difference to main course.

A last minute outing with my husband. We both took advantage of the steak deal for £15 with all of the trimmings. Great quality food and great service. The only downside was no card machine for payment with no signs to let you know before you go in.

We were here for Sunday Carvery and it was lovely. Food was yummy and staff couldn't be more helpful and friendly. Only reason I am not giving 'Excellent' is because unlike other carveries you do not get to serve yourself potatoes, vegetables and gravy etc. One of the things I like best about carveries is controlling how much I get on my plate.
