Visiting Coventry, the plan was to eat at Taste Vietnam, just up the road, only to discover that it had no toilet facilities. The imperative was to find somewhere that did. What better than a pub, and the Old Windmill came into view, looking interesting from the outside and even more so on entry. Pints were ordered, visits made, and we settled in.Thought about eating there but after a few we opted for the Turmeric opposite. Enjoyed the odd ambience of that, and the food, but on reflection, we should have stayed and tried the food here, along with the ale. If ever in the area, this is on the list for a return trip. Friendly barman too.

Itâs always good to find a place with a proper vegan breakfast on the menu and it lived up to expectations! The meat eater was also very happy with his choice! The place was bright and clean, staff very friendly and attentive and the music was great too! Weâll definitely come again next time we visit Coventry

We were staying in Coventry over a weekend and wanted a traditional Sunday lunch.A number of people recommend The Artisan and we weren't disappointed. We booked late and they fitted us in. Drinks downstairs first ,a choice of over 100 gins and good atmosphere as there was a baby shower in one room!Upstairs large restaurant with friendly staff . Two roast beefs with the trimmings, lovely Yorkshire puds. Best beef we have eaten in a long time comes from The Meat man Warwick, leamington and London. In a city where there are so many chain restaurants The Artisan is a welcome change.Thank you Chris, hopefully see you next time you are in Coventry.

The newly refurbished Golden Cross is the oldest pub in Coventry, built c.1583 and a pub from c.1661. It features the traditional Tudor jettied upper floors, with exposed beams in the interior. There will be real ale served, from both near and far and liv
This historic pub is located very close to the cathedral. We called in to sample the beer. There was a good choice of hand pulled ales and the one we chose was excellent. We did not eat but we were surprised and pleased to see an extensive and sophisticated menu. It was far superior to the normal pub food offerings. There was also a vegan menu with many interesting looking dishes. The service was very good and the interior was very pleasant and historic.

The Old Crown is a traditional pub and kitchen offering fantastic home cooked food at affordable prices in a friendly and welcoming atmosphere
Visited the Old Crown today for Sunday lunch after scouring the internet looking for somewhere different to go. Never visited this pub before but will definitely go again. Excellent Sunday Carvery - four choices of meat - turkey, beef, pork and gammon. Large Yorkshire pudding, stuffing, roast and new potatoes, carrots, peas, broccoli, cauliflower, roast parsnips and cabbage and lovely gravy and condiments!Very friendly staff who were very attentive and nothing seemed too much trouble. My friend and me couldnât manage a dessert each so shared a piece of apple pie and custard which was lovely. 2 courses £11.95.You need to book as it gets quite busy. Will definitely visit again soon!

We pulled off the motorway on our way to Shrewsbury and headed for this tucked away pub for our lunch. What a lovely position overlooking the canal and bridge. The pub is a great old building comprised of former cottages knocked through. Interesting decor and knick-knacks. It has a great atmosphere and we were very comfortable, so had another drink (tea and coffee for the driver)! We only had sandwiches, but they were fresh and served with a salad garnish and crisps. Will try to remember this pub next time we are in the area. Very much appreciated its olde worlds charm.

Held our Golden Wedding party here and chose from set menu. The food was excellent and we could not have had better service from the staff. Extremely obliging and cheerful at all times (even when dealing with large drinks orders). Have eaten here for tea on Motherâs Day and lunch on Fatherâs Day. Both were delicious. Just an example below of one of one of the desserts.
