We have visited Coniston for the past 2 years and always look forward to a well deserved afternoon drink after a long walk with the dogs and an evening meal and the Yewdale definitely doesnât disappoint - lovely atmosphere, friendly staff, dog friendly in the bar, great choice of quality food and very tasty - highly recommended, we will be returning x

The Terrace at Brantwood provides freshly cooked light meals and snacks, homemade cakes and scones. Our chef uses herbs and fruit grown in Brantwood's gardens to create delicious food for our visitors. The Terrace is licensed to sell wine, beer and lager
Been visiting Brantwood for over 20 years, and the Terrace when exchanged hands from previous owner moved on. Always good food quality, not cheap. Disappointed in my latest visit. Tasty mezze plate, sadly overpriced and flatbread was so hard impossible to cut.think had been reheated in microwave. Sadly hot cross buns same very hard nearly inedible, quite small and hugely overpriced at 3.75 each, over 12 pounds for tea for two and two hot cross buns.

Excellent weekend away in Coniston. We ate in the Black Bull on the Friday night. I had the Cumberland sausage which was good quality meat and very flavoursome. Some of the other guys had the fish and chips which they all enjoyed. Some nice local ales, good ambience, helpful staff and cosy little fire. All in all we were very happy

We arrived tired and hungry after walking all morning. The cafe was surprisingly quiet for a Sunday in July. I wonder why it isnât more popular? The coffee was excellent and the food was hearty and homemade.Worth the tiny extra effort from the Main Street!

We visited for an evening meal with Grandparents, parents and grandchildren. Craig the host was brilliant, explaining the menu and ethos of the farm perfectly. Nothing was too much trouble. Beautiful food in beautiful surroundings. Would defiantly recommend and would love to go back.

Set in the heart of the English lake districts, at the base of the fells sits Herdwicks cafe and bistro. Serving light lunches, and hearty meals Herdwicks has the best views in the village. You are sure to recieve a warm welcome from husband and wife team
rainy day in the Lakes with disabled dad, and a dog ??where to go, this cafe in the shop is great for both, just accross from the car park, dog friendly, easy access, no toiletsThank you so much for writing a review, I think you may have gotten the wrong place? We have toilets including a disabled one and our own car park with a disabled space? Thanks Gemma

We stopped by here while visiting the Coniston area. The cafe had a large and interesting menu, good pricing and more than enough choices for everyone. They even offer to make to order anything that isn't on their menu. The cafe was cosy, warm and welcoming. The staff were only to happy to help and offer advice on where to visit while in Coniston...there is more to Coniston than the exploits of Donald Campbell and his sad demise in Bluebird.

We booked this before our trip from Jersey, very glad we did on the night all tables where full. The food was exceptional good my wifeâs vegetarian was Devine also my none meat free meal. We got a cold bottle of wine from the pub next door as thereâs no Licence. Not a problem just take it with you or beer. The staff open it not a problem. Recommend this five star eating house to all. The menu is for a mind blowing problem to choose all local food. And very freshly cooked. The staff where fantastic. It made our last night in the lakes.

Set in the very heart of the Lake District at the beautiful 19th-century Brockhole House, The Gaddum Restaurant is renowned for amazing seasonal lunches and the best afternoon tea in the Lake District. Think attentively created locally inspired dishes, th
The Gaddum is situated in the main building at the Brockhole National Park Visitors Centre. At the moment they are only open from 1100-1600 which is a shame as the menu seems to be more aimed towards fine dining and not the usual lunch menu you will find in the majority of Lake District restaurants. Unfortunately my wife and I were the only customers which is a shame as the food was excellent and very reasonably priced. My had a main course and a desert each plus drinks and it was just over £50. My wife had Bream Blackened cauliflower, pickled cauliflower, capers, seaweed. Followed by Banana ParfaitBanana jam, elderflower, summer berries, caramel .I had the Pan Roasted Duck BreastCrispy figs, fig & liquorice puree, Roscoff onion followed by the Brockholeâs Moss Covered WallDark chocolate creÌmeux, pistachio, caramelised white chocolate .If we had been to a high end restaurant anywhere in the Lakes in the evening and eaten this meal we would have been more than happy and would happily have paid twice the amount.I hope that the Gaddum becomes a success as the setting, service and food are wonderful.

The Hillthwaite restaurant in Windermere offers creative English cuisine with a modern twist. With home-cooked Lakeland food using the freshest Cumbrian produce. Meat from Lake District farms has a leaner, tighter texture, a slightly darker colour and a un
Excellent in every way: lovely location overlooking the lake in the distance, pretty terrace garden to sit in the sunshine, beautifully furnished, clean and beautifully decorated, relaxing, excellent customer service, lovely afternoon tea, and family owned for fifty years (we met the owner, Marjorie, who still pops in to keep things running smoothly). We had a lovely, relaxing time sitting in the bay window overlooking the terrace with the lake in the distance, followed by afternoon tea in the dining room with the same view. It has a swimming pool, steam room and sauna which we didnât use as it was so nice just sitting and relaxing in the sumptuous lounge. And the bonus is that they welcome dogs. I can thoroughly recommend it - you must go!
