Upon our arrival we were greeted by a lady smoking by the entrance. It later transpired that this lady was in fact working front of house and she reeked of tobacco â not pleasant when ordering food. Wear some patches while working! The food took too long to arrive and when it did:Chinese Pork Steaks â Tuff as old boots. Went home to get the reciprocating saw to assist with cutting â nearly burnt the motor out! My child nearly suffered from cramp while chewing.Pork Roast - The pork was anaemic/tasteless and the fat was not sufficiently roasted. Crackling had a distinctive plastic appearance and taste.Ribeye Steak â Grisly and so much fat, it was almost 50:50 meat to fat ratio â awful.Sticky Toffee Pudding â Of all the restaurants Iâve been to, this is the only one that didnât understand the basic principal of what a Sticky Toffee Pudding is. The sponge was awful and appeared to have been brought in as a basic sponge. A toffee sauce appeared to have then been drizzled over the sponge. It was dry and did not resemble what I expected which after waiting for 30+ mins was surprising since this is ample time to prepare sticky toffee puddings for an army.Wasnât worth the money and lady at the front of house needs to obtain a friendly manner and stop smoking during shifts â it stinks. We were not asked of our opinion in regards to the food and received no apology for the time it took for the pudding to arrive. Would have complained on the day but were celebrating and did not want to impose a negative atmosphere on our celebration.Thank you for taking the time to review your visit. We welcome all feedback, positive and negative, and are obviously disappointed that you did not enjoy your experience but equally dismayed that, despite celebrating, you could not have mentioned the terrible experience that you were having at the time, rather than choosing to air your grievances on public media, having not given us the opportunity to correct or compensate for the issues which you raised. We recognise that in this, as in any trade, it is impossible to please everyone. Thankfully, as other reviews and feedback will testify, your experience is not the norm for us and at this late stage, we can only apologise for not having met your expectations.

A traditional inn offering classic home-cooked British cuisine and a wide range of ales, wines and spirits.
Visited yesterday for a birthday lunch, there were 7 of us. All the food was great, steak was cooked to perfection, liver and onions looked fab. Hunters chicken, fish and chips and the salmon steaks were also delicious, also the 2 for £12 was an added bonus. Service very good and we all had a fab time. Thanks for the birthday cake which was yummy . Will be returning for lunch soon.Thank you for the kind comments .We are so pleased everything was good for your celebratory lunch and that you enjoyed the food and the birthday cake . Look forward to welcoming you back to the Talbot again . Kindest regardsVal and Steve

We had an all day breakfast and mushrooms on toast, both of which were fine.Perhaps we visited just after a busy time because there were a few uncleared tables. The restaurant could also do with just generally improving its tidiness and appearance behind the counter. The food and service were reasonable.

A stunningly restored 17th Century Coaching Inn, set in beautiful South Shropshire countryside. The Hopton Crown offers delicious, freshly prepared food based on seasonal local ingredients as well as a great selection of well-kept ales and ciders and an e
A late Sunday lunch at the Hopton Crown was even better than our hungry tummies anticipated. The beef was really tasty with good Yorkshire pudding and roasted potatoes and parsnips but this was almost surpassed by the creamed leeks and cauliflower cheese. A shared warm chocolate brownie was almost a step too far. Friendly, smiling staff too.

Had read on social media that this was worth a visit, and we werenât disappointed. We had pizza with a bowl of chips, great! Tasty and good value. Will be returning to try the tapas.

Driving back from a morning out we saw Larch barn, wish I hadnât bothered,Very hot & extremely noisy.ordered a ploughmanâs lunch ( asked for white roll because I have a intolerance to brown & seeds) & a quiche with couscous & salad leaves, took 40 minutes to arrive, guess what it came with a brown seeded roll on explaining Iâd ordered white the reply was no white rollsall they had was a slice of white bread doesnât really go with a ploughmanâs, now on to my husbands quiche it actually came with coleslaw not couscous, I Couldnât be bothered to complain but I think they should stick to to menu or explain to the customer itâs different than stated on the menu, as you can guess we wonât bother to try this place again,Hello,Thank you for taking the time to review your experience with us, we are very sorry to hear that you did not enjoy your visit. We would very much like the opportunity to rectify the situation, if you would like to contact our management team they would be more than happy to discuss further, please email [email protected]

Stayed 1 night here passing through, easy to find and ample parking on road outside, upon arrival we were allocated room 4 but as we entered it was already occupied so we were given room 3 which was a twin room but we booked a double, after a few minutes we were then told to move to room 2 which had a double bed, the room was small and the window opened out on to a brick wall and roof. No view as the roof and brick wall came within inches of the window, this didnât matter to us it was a one night stay, the room had tea and coffee facilities and a nice touch was two bottles of beer and two bottles of water supplied complimentary, the bed was comfy, the room was warm and maybe a little too warm for my liking, the bathroom was large with a good shower, clean and tidy. Our only criticism is that the music down stairs went on until midnight and I could hear every single word of every customers conversation, it was so loud I didnât get to sleep until it had all stopped and the customers left, there is no sound proofing and I literally felt like everyone was in the room with us! But after everyone went it was bliss and a good nights sleep was had, breakfast was amazing served by a very friendly cook and made the stay what it was which on the whole was very good, we would stay here again but probably would not go to bed until midnight to sleep as there is no point lying awake due to the noice, for the money it was very good value stay. Thank you.

First time weâve visited since the change to Mortimerâs and we went for the taster menu with the wine flight....I concur the wine portions could be more generous the food was fabulous and the service excellent....bizarrely we were seated at the same table as our previous visit 3 or 4?years before.... the only thing that spoilt the evening was the very loud, very pretentious couple who seemed intent on sharing their life with the whole establishment... even if weâd relocated from the next table weâd have still heard them.....I wonder what the etiquette is?
