Lovely welcoming small cafe. All on one level. Accessible toilet.I had a burger and husband had a haggis bun.Top quality food at sensible prices.Plenty of choice, savoury and sweet. The staff are so nice.A must visit.
Delicious variety of Burgers, Kebabs and good old British cuisine. Using the freshest ingredients and passion to bring home style cooking right to your door.
I canât express the joy on my sons face when he heard there was a local delivery service. For our wee rural area we finally joined the 21st century ; ) The first time we ordered was for novelty value ,not expecting much. How wrong I was, the food is really good and varied. Food arrives hot and considering itâs freshly made , quick delivery. The value is super too and I canât remember a weekend when we haven't ordered . There are 5 of us and with main grub and desserts ,on average it costs us around £25. (The cheesecake is a favourite here) Can you tell we are fans!?

Five of us had dinner to celebrate a birthday. A very comprehensive menu with something for everyone. If you have any intolerances they are happy to accommodate you. Starters included scallops, crisping brie wedges and of course haggis. Main courses included steaks, fish and pasta. The scampi was delicious, served with veg and chips, new potatoes available as well. We had to skip dessert, all of us full.

We stopped here to catch up with some friends for dinner and sure glad of their choice. This is your typical country pub atmosphere with wonderful service from the moment we arrived. The meal itself was delicious and the portions just right. All up it was an excellent meal with excellent service. We would definitely dine here again.

Situated beside the main A75, just outside the village of Ringford and some 3 miles inland from the artists town of Kirkcudbright. The restaurant is in what was the local primary and junior school for the village and surrounding area and closed in 1977. O

This is a family run business that knows how to look after its customers. We were attracted to this café as it offered a variety of choice of something warming to eat on a coolish June day. Its menu is quite extensive and includes soups, jacket potatoes and burgers as well as sandwiches in various forms. Indeed, their speciality sandwiches offer twelve different fillings in a choice of 6 different breads with 4 different spreads and a coice of 4 out of 9 salad toppings. Or, over 870,000 different varieties! Our choices were hot bacon sandwich (Granary, low fat spread, etc), Jacket potato with cheese and garlic mushrooms and a soup and sandwich combination. All were quickly prepared and served to the correct customer without the waitress having to enquire as to who was having which dish; customer service indeed. Our meals were delicious and plentiful and thoroughly enjoyed by all. The icing on the cake (so to speak) was that two of us were able to find a paperback each among the small collection of second hand books kept at the café for customers to take away for a small donation to charity. We intend to patronise this café again.

On holiday with our two dogs and mum itâs sometimes hard to find a cafe with a garden but this cafe is garden perfection with a lovey wooden gazebo covered in climbing flowers, a beautiful place to stop for a coffee and homemade cake or like us , lunch! The garden area is down a little alley way which you could easily miss as itâs not clearly signed. But the front of the cafe leads you down into a conservatory and out into the beautiful garden if you miss the alley. Waitress service but you order and pay inside first if you want to eat alfresco. Child and dog friendly. Gluten free on offer and soya milk alternative too. Weâre visited twice this week already, and are visiting again today for lunch. Why? Because the food is tasty, homemade and delicious! Simple as that! Good value price wise too, making this cafe, the best in Castle Douglas in our opinion. Coffee is great, my mum even loved her Earl Grey tea, she usually moans itâs too weak! There are sandwiches with locally made bread, toasties and paninis, homemade quiches and soups plus lots of specials and homemade cakes to choose from. My sandwich came with a beautiful dressed salad, delicious. My mum ordered a cheese toastie which came with homemade chutney and the salad. She ate every scrap and enthused all the way through it! My hubby ordered the BLT and he too pronounced it to be lovely. I canât recommend more highly. Try it yourself to find out what a gem of a place it is. In the garden on a sunny day, you feel as though you could be anywhere in the world, plenty of parasols to keep you shady if the sun is too hot. Wonderful place.

Mr Pook's Kitchen will be your gateway to Scotland's larder. This new restaurant will showcase some of the best produce from Dumfries and Galloway using ancient, classic and modern cooking techniques.
Just home from a pretty perfect meal at Mr Pook's kitchen. I'd been before for afternoon tea and wanted to experience what read like a great dining menu for evenings. We weren't disappointed in our choices. The staff are super, knowledgeable, friendly and efficient in their service delivery. We had scallops and the salmon pate after some tasty amuse bouche of radish with some interesting embellishments! (Little bugs) Mains were a seriously delish rib eye with the best ever chunky chips and an expertly cooked duck in a cherry/vodka sauce, especially the crispy skin. Mmmmm. Well worth the 55 mile trip.I'm very happy we managed to feed you well, especially after such a long journey for your tea.I will be sure to let the team know about your kind review. The little bugs were popped wild rice, we often announce them to kids as edible creepy crawlies. We look forward to welcoming you back.Kind regardsEdward Pook
