Visited this restaurant on a week day, the place was empty when we arrived so we were surprised when were taken up stairs to a table. We assumed this was so casual drop in diners could see if the restaurant was busy or not. Decor really nice and tasteful in greys, loved the industrial lighting and on point vases, floral arrangement etc. My friend and i opted for the main menu as neither of us fancied anything on the special menu.My friend had the prawn & smoked salmon starter , I opted for the black pudding, we had the smaller portion for our mains, my friend the meat pie, chips and mushy peas, and I had the fish and chips with mushy peas. Both very nice and hot, my fish was especially good, lovely piece of fish and not over battered. We both declined desserts. As we left we found that the restaurant was very busy& all areas seemed to be full and as this was a weekday they are doing something right. Our bill was reasonable and we vowed to re- visit. The young staff members were very pleasant and helpful, I just wish the more mature lady was a bit more engaging and welcoming..

We were seated on arrival and menus given. We had an afternoon tea voucher but was told we could use it for anything off the menu and put to if it went over £33. Ten minutes later our drinks order was taken, we waited about 15 minutes before our drinks came. We did noticed others had come in after us but had drinks and food before we even got drinks. Our afternoon tea arrived on the 3 tier stand, looked very nice. I ran out of tea and asked for some hot water as I like my tea very weak, the waitress said I will get you a fresh pit as itâs complimentary. Ten minutes later a young waitress came to see if we had finished, we asked for a box to put our cakes in to take home. I asked if she could see if my pot of tea was coming and she said ok. Sat another 15 minutes still no tea so I said come on letâs pay and go as it doesnât look like the teas coming. Went to pay and the waitress that said she would get me a fresh pot of tea was stood with 2 others chatting. I asked were I paid and went and paid. Food was good , first pot of tea was lovely pity I didnât get the second one and would say service was iggledy piggledy. Not a very good first impression.

Informal Gastro Style Pub & Restaurant serving fresh food from a contemporary menu in the borough of Bury & Rossendale. Serving premier wines, spirits and beers as well as Real Cask ales. Modern and contemporary interior for a relaxed dinning experience.
We went to this lovely resteraunt on a whim the other day and found it changed from pub grub into a real gem. The food was superb and the atmosphere charming. I had a steak which was melt in the mouth and my partner had the fish and chips with a pea puree he enjoyed every mouthful. The sweets were equally marvellous. I would certainly have no hesitation of recommending this lovely resteraunt.Hi J8152KHmichaelsWe are absolutely thrilled to hear that your chance visit turned into a memorable experience, thank you for taking the time to leave us a sterling review! We have recently recruited a new kitchen team, so it's wonderful to hear that they are succeeding in putting their stamp on our fantastic food offering and it's being enjoyed by all our guests. Visited with my cousin for afternoon tea. We were welcomed and shown to our table by very friendly staff. The place is really pretty and our table was in a quiet corner where we could see outside and also take in the ambience indoors. It was pretty busy for a week day afternoon. The staff were attentive and visible throughout and were helpful and friendly when we asked them anything. The food was excellent, a great mix of savoury food and sweets. The halloumi fries and the buttermilk chicken were my favourites. We had opted for the Prosecco lunch and this was a nice change with the candy floss. I would definitely recommend and I would definitely go back to try other options on the menu as all the food being eaten around us looked fab.

I've driven on the Rochdale to Edenfield road on many occasions when the local motorways are congested and in doing so you pass the signs directing you off the road towards this place, but I've never previously had the time to explore but yesterday I did. Why oh why didn't I take the time out before as it's fantastic. Be aware though that the journey from the main road to the retreat is on side roads that need some TLC. That said ,it's more than worth it, the views are stunning, lush green fields, waterfalls just fab. Everything about this place is just, the building, the service, the so much to choose from menu and not forgetting the window wall in the restaurant which allows you too take in the views. The menu will have something for everyone, even the children are catered for, from not humble sandwiches to sumptuous dining. Everything is made to orderâ . Please don't make the same mistake I did and keep driving passed for all of those years, just GO.

Lovely environment.... I had the spicy red lentil & mungo pea Dahl with rice and chapatis...The waitress warned me that is was quite spicy and that the chef describes it as 'flavoursome' and it was indeed. It was a very generous portion, I couldn't manage to eat it all. The latte was also very nice and the tap water was served with ice and lemon in a lovely glass... I would definitely eat here again...Thank you crowded house....

Visited for the first time on Friday 1/11 with 3 girlfriends. The staff here are very attentive. The food was nice all four of us having different meals. Itâs quite an upmarket restaurant with chandeliers and comfy couch seating area and very brightly lit, however really noisy as the acoustics lend themselves to enhancing everyoneâs conversations so quite hard to hear ourselves. Dear JanMEngland,First I would like to thank you for the visit and taking the time to share a review. We do take great care in providing the best food and service to our guests. We are glad to know that you and your girlfriends have enjoyed the meals and the attentive service we provided. However, we can see that you had difficulty hearing each other because of the noise created by the acoustics. We will be sure to forward this on to the management to fix the issue urgently.Hope on your next visit, we will meet your expectations fully.

Step on board our traditional Pullman style carriages and be transported back in time to an age where to dine by train, was the height of sophistication. Enjoy first class service and fine dining behind one of our historic steam engines whilst journeying
Murder Mystery Experience inc Dinner on train - first the bad news!Had to stand on draughty platform for 30 minutes whilst the complications of the "Murder" were explained (Turns out the Murder had already happened!)Suitably frozen to death (most but not all diners had dressed for the occasion so were really cold) we boarded the train where our glass of fizz and starter were already waiting for us - very nice but fizz had been poured for some time so a bit warm!Train left just after 7.30 and actors passed through carriages not really helping us solve the murder!Train then stopped at a station for us to disembark onto platform to examine "clues" to the murder - this was not explained at outset so we decided t remain warm on board rather than face another chilling!Main course of dinner was not served for about another 30 mins after train re-started it's journey, dessert & coffee eventually followed - much too long and really drawn out!But worse to follow - at end of journey we all had to gather once more on the freezing platform for a very long 15 mins or so, to be "addressed" by organiser to find out the identity of the murderer.Good News! Food was excellent and serving staff impressive.Verdict - We would eat on this train again but the Murder Mystery Experience was , frankly, an ordeal.CaptainR222,Thank you for leaving a review. I am glad that both the food and service met your expectations. Our interactive Murder Mystery evenings are extremely popular and I am sorry to hear that you did not enjoy this part of your experience. Due to the layout of the train, the opening scenes are performed on the platform as it would not be possible to do this onboard. I appreciate the weather was not the warmest on the evening in question, had you requested we would have gladly boarded you early and asked the inspector to pass on any relevant information once departed. The stop at Ramsbottom is so customers can look for clues and interact with the suspects. Again this is optional and they will happily divulge any missed information to customers who choose to remain onboard. In regards to the starter and glass of fizz. These are placed on the tables just before boarding. I am sorry that your fizz was a bit warm and I will speak to all staff to ensure that it is not being poured too early. The overall journey time is just over two and a half hours allowing sufficient time for customers to enjoy a three course meal (soon to be four), tea or coffee and solve the murder. I am pleased that you would return for one of our other dining experiences and hope to welcome you back in the future.Kind Regards,Michelle McNamara Deputy Manager
