We were in town for a swimming event at IUPUI and after the day at the pool, we were looking for some dinner. We decided on burgers so started looking through Google maps. The nice thing is that the map compared it to a couple places we've been to back home, which sold us on our decision. It was a little tricky to find some parking, but not long. We sat outside, which was nice and mostly shaded. As the sun had started to duck behind the buildings, they actually opened the slats that were on the patio "roof." This gave a little more air flow, which was nice. We each ordered a burger, of course, with fries on the side, which was extra, but they were amazing!! I had the basic, beginning burger with cheddar and bacon. My son had the Honey-Chipotle BBQ burger, which was a lot on one bun! We each had a bottle of root beer, and then he finished with a root beer float, which was really good too. And the burgers were cooked the way we like them, with some pink in the middle. The fries were really great, we love fries with a little skin on them and nice and crispy like!Again, it wasn't a cheap place, but it was really good and I'd come back again if we're in the area.

Our group of six got pulled pork sandwiches, brisket, ribs, waffle fries, mac-N-cheese and Ranchero beans. The combo platters and pick-a-meat sandwiches were good choices for different appetites. The beans are not typical baked beans; they are runny and vinegary and tomatoey, not sweet or bacony. The mac was tasty but the cheese was thick not creamy. The waffle fries were tasty but chewy. Overall the meat was the highlight. They seemed understaffed and signage was missing in places and unclear in others. We figured it all out and enjoyed our meal. We ate outside which was pet friendly. Some tables outside did not have umbrellas.

Very busy place. I noticed people standing outside with open tables inside. I think they might be short staffed. Once in we did have good service. Chicken was very good. I thought it had a little too much pepper. Mac and cheese was really good as well as the horseradish mashed potatoes.

Brewery & Gastropub located inside the old St.Joseph's Church located in the Lockerbie area, just south of Massachusetts Avenue in Indianapolis.
The Dark Angel was so good, the Hazy Confession was so good, the other people I was with liked their beers, too. Dinner was great. Service was wonderful. I really loved the well-researched history of the place that's printed on the menu - and after reading it, you can see where some of the beer names came from which makes you a Beer History Nerd, too!

In German, the word Gemutlichkeit has a very loose translation. Germans use it to describe the feeling of warmth, friendliness, and good cheer. As a matter of fact, English has no direct translation for the word. Big Lug is the same in this way. It remind
I've eaten at the Liter House twice and was pleased on both occasions. If you want a restaurant with ambience, then don't go here. It's fairly sterile and seems to have adopted concrete as its main decorative theme. But I wasn't looking for atmosphere, just a decent meal. On my first visit I ordered a "If he dies he dies" mixed cocktail and it was fabulous! For my meal I had a large hot dog on a pretzel bun which was quite good. I duplicated this meal on my second visit because I found it enjoyable. Service was very good and speedy on both visits. I will definitely be visiting Liter House again.
