Find out what Brew Pub restaurants to try in Bamberg. Like Rome, Bamberg sits on seven hills, though these are lush, green Bavarian ones. You’ll find all sorts of architecture here, so enjoy exploring the cobbled streets. Plenty of shopping and museums await you, as do nine different breweries. The city loves markets and festivals, especially around Christmas.

DISTINCTIVE, UPSTANDING AND GENUINE: WHAT DEFINES US AS A BREWER IMG_2036 Tradition and craftsmanship â for us, these are not just selling points, and most definitely not myth. We are a family owned and operated business, run with conviction and passion f
As a recommendation from our tour guide we taxi back the this historic restaurant and enjoyed a large plate of pork n dumplings. Should have asked for smaller portions. Enjoyed their beers. Pretty beer garden in front and interior so old it reeked with history.

In the middle of the old part of Bamberg, directly beneath the mighty cathedral, one can find the historic smoked beer brewery Schlenkerla. First mentioned in 1405 and now run by the Trum family in the 6th generation, it is the fountain of Original Schlen
Had a couple of pints of the worlds best Rauchbier, Märzen and a blonde. The history of the brewery is impressive and dates back several hundred years. Iâve sought out Schlenkerla beers in the US and in the UK. Sitting in the Bamberg pub with a wooden barrel aged Märzen is close to nirvana for any beer-aficionado (geek). Outstanding!!

Less than a km from the station, this brewhouse offers a range of beers and the usual full fat saturated traditional German fayre. Roomy inside.

There is a choice between indoor seating with service or a courtyard with self service. Both are very popular. The wood paneled salon is very cosy and busy. Many people book in advance which is recommended. Our first visit was at about 15:00 but they had stopped serving food at 14:30 and didn't restart until 17:30. Lovely draft beer. Came back the next evening and managed to share a table. I had a schnitzel which was tasty but quite large. Great value and very friendly staff. Probably my favorite place in Bamberg.

Absolutely fantastic food, tho the chairs were very uncomfortable, hard with slats. We arrived with a 7pm reservation, make sure to have one, and there was a Stammtisch with local men at our table. They were enjoying their get together and were in no hurry to leave. They waved us over and as a few had already left their group, there were 3 empty chairs, so we sat down and started chatting with them. They were a group of friends collected over the years from school, work and community. We three ordered our drinks and dinner and had a pleasant chat with the two who remained. They ordered another round and sat with us. Germany is one of those places where you are very likely to share a table with total strangers, but other than a polite " Guten Appetit", usually no conversations occur. Here we had a pleasant chat with two complete strangers about Bamberg, beer, beer gardens, Keesmann, toasting etiquette, tourists, locals, and life. At the end of our delicious meal, we ended up setting up a city tour with one of them who offered to show us the area from a local perspective. I ordered the Hirschgulasch, Elk goulash, with red cabbage and a potato ball. The goulash had cranberries in it and was sweet but not too sweet. However much I thot the red cabbage was good, it was a huge heavy meal, so I couldn't eat much of the cabbage or any of the potato ball. However, I loved the goulash and the cabbage was also warm and delicious. I had a .25liter glass of their dark beer, Sternla, and that was the perfect size. Great taste, not too heavy. My spouse had their Schweinekotelett which was humongous and fried and breaded, which he liked, but it looked like a heart attack about to happen. Our friend had the same as I and liked it as well. In the end, our meals were great, the server, Maria, was really friendly, and the two men were pleasant company. My spouse and I even got a local tour of the surrounding Bamberg county with two small local breweries where he knew the people and the beer was good.
