It can be frustrating as a traveler to find restaurants that serve authentic home cooking. Here you will find a limited menu of the real deal: feijoada (of course); mau de vacate (mocoto); sarapatel; moqueca de peixe; rabada (Thursday only) and a few others. Each dish will likely be the best version you will find anywhere unless you are visiting a family that employs one of the best cooks in town. The place is very friendly and unpretentious. The prices are totally reasonable. Beware, it closes at 4:00pm so go for lunch.

Inaugurated in 10/03/2001, Churrascaria Gaucho Corner is one of the most traditional of Ilheus. Located in the Pontal Waterfront overlooking the sea, all the details Steakhouse surprise. We offer a variety of options in salads, cheeses, sushi, cuts of mea
If you want to taste a good churrasco, just go there!Very nice meat, very well served, and don't be shine, if you don't like the way they cooked something, just tell the waiter and they will re-cook it for you, simply a real customer care! The best churrasco in town, very good selection of wines, I really enjoed that.

This thematic restaurant shows a great deal of the cacao bonanza and male extravagant dreams about women and adventure, both as portrayed by the creative mind of Jorge Amado, as well as what historical narrative registers in its photographic and furniture display, making it a museum-like restaurant. My first visit, I really recommend it more for the setting than for the food. Enjoy the atmosphere, have a drink and admire what may have been the days of cacao barons!

We went for a walk and we found this great place. We ordered sururu caldo ( it is a kind of soup) which was not the best, and we also ordered Carne de sol with casava and haloumi cheese, which was amazing very tasteful and well served.. The service was also great..Definitely come back..

This is our favorite place to go after concerts or just for a late night meal. The grilled meat and fried mantioc are fantastic and tastes just that much better when you have already been having fun. It can get crowded and street people will sometimes bother you at your table, but it is a safe spot and the staff is great.
It is a company specialized in BAKING and also works as RESTAURANT. A very cozy place, all air conditioned, sound environment and a food that satisfies the most demanding palate.

...trading on its tenuous connection with Jorge Amado. The food is indifferent and over priced, although the caipirinhas are decent and not expensive. The downtown area is very quiet after dark so its not an especially lively spot then.

I just wanted something simple like a hamburger, fries and a fruit juice. And that is exactly what I had at a reasonable Bahian price very close to my hostel, set back slightly from the main road. Well presented, very tasty, quick to come, and with a delicius lemon juice, Would certainly return and be a little more adventurous.

This resort is already widely reviewed on TripAdvisor, but it's restaurant is also open to the public (at least during the off season -- might be restricted when the resort itself is full). We had lunch there on a Saturday - the famous feijoada. The restaurant is on the chic side for Ilheus), and there were lots of locals dining, too. Service was professional and friendly and the food very tasty with ample portions. Lunch for two, with drinks, was R$75 (US$32) - a bargin around here. Definitely worth a visit.

This seemingly unassuming roadside restaurant served up the best meal we ate in a 3 week tour of NE Brazil!!! Absolutely fantastic dining, with a magnificent range dishes, all cooked to perfection. Highly recommended
