If you are a big meat eater this is the place to visit. You pay a set amount with free water and help yourself to the buffet of soups, salads, and deserts which are a high standard. The waiters then keep coming to your table with every meat you can imagine and carving slices off for you. If you don't want it you turn your disc over to say no. IT is a unique experience and the restaurant itself is very nice inside.

Fazneda Barbanegra is what one strives to find when traveling to different cities around the world. The restaurant is a Argentine Parilla style steak house with fine meats. The extrecot is outstanding and presented on a hotel charcoal box. The sausages are a must for a starter. The limn rice and potatoes with cheese and spinach are also a must to order. Deserts are very good, but the Brazilian flan was special. The quality of the meats are excellent and prices are very reasonable.Wednesday nights is when a whole lamb is roasted. Roberto the owner is a very friendly person and likes to speak with the customers.

The Magazine Quatro Rodas, one of most important of Brazil awarded Churrascaria Portoalegrense several times as the best in town
The barbecue is good and they have a baked-in-fire cheese breads that are really good. It is a traditional a bit overrated barbecue place in PoA that doesnt open on Sundays and doesnt accept credit cards.

A 50 Anos no coração dos gaúchos! Fogo sempre aceso, o melhor churrasco à la carte, pratos quentes e frios à disposição e garçons sempre prontos a atender pedidos a qualquer hora é coisa rara na Capital gaúcha. Mas isso é o que se vê todos os dias na Chur
Our Brazilian friend took us here, and when other natives of Porto Alegre heard where we were going, they said ' great choice!'. Excellent steaks cooked and served in the traditional way, presented on a marble slab and sliced and served on to plates by a skilled waiter. Excellent stuff! Not sure I have tasted better steaks than these. The accompanying salad was served from a portable salad bar, and was OK - it it had been as good as the steaks then I would have given the restaurant five stars. We thought we had better have the traditional Brazilian black beans too, and all-in-all had a really good evening in what is, apparently, the oldest, and most traditional, steak house in Porto Alegre. I did not pay myself, but the meal was not too expensive. Highly recommended!

I had great expectations for Churrascaria Giovanaz after reading all the reviews here (and getting a recommendation from someone at the hotel). Perhaps it was just the night we went - or a disruption in their meat supply - but I found Churrascaria Giovanaz a bit average. The sides were few and nothing special. And while the meat quality was good, there was not much variety. It was the same 5-6 options cycling around the room over and over again. I was looking forward to the picanha but it never appeared. The restaurant itself was very comfortable - casual in the typical Brazilian sense. It was filled with mostly locals, so that reassured us when we walked in the door. People seemed to be having a good time with their families and friends. I was hoping for a couple chopes, but all they had was large bottles of beer. Cerveja did the trick but somehow doesn't go as well with rodizio as draft beer does. As mentioned above, the meat selection was limited the night we went. However, I can attest that the quality of the meat was good, albeit overcooked to me (I prefer medium rare and the options were medium and above). I'm willing to give Churrascaria Giovanaz the benefit of the doubt and assume that evening was a fluke. Service was on the ball, I will give them credit for that. But there had to be a reason why the place was packed with so many locals. The price was great for what you got, I was just lead to believe we'd get a bit more.

El Fuego steak house in Porto Alegre, Brazil, continues in its good shape. Staff is friendly and fast in bringing the cover and taking your order for drinks. Location is convenient at the Shopping "Moinhos", with easy parking. They continue having a system where they grilled different options of meat continuously in a barbecue fire in a room besides the main eating area. A buffet of salads and side dishes are in the same area. You can take a plate, serve your salad and other side dishes and ask for your favourite cut of meat. I recommend the most traditional Brazilian cut named "picanha", but in El Fuego they also have the delicious "costela" and "vazio" prepared in a typical gaucho style. From the BBQ fire they also serve melted provolone cheese and fried polenta. Not to be missed. All in all, its a very nice experience, specially if you are a meat lover.

First, it is a very simple restaurant with very simple decor. You cannot see the grill from the seating area as in some restaurants. They do not accept credit cards, so bring cash. Restaurante Princesa Isabel is not a typical tourist destination--in fact, everyone else I saw during my hour-long gorge-fest were obviously locals--so don't expect any English. After you indicate what you want--just the meat or the price including a set with sides and/or drinks--they bring the meat and sides to you, so you don't have to do anything else except say "si" or "nao" (or nod or shake your head if your mouth is full) when another plate of food comes out. You are not coming for the decoration or comfortable chairs anyway, so enjoy the meat!It is not the best meal at a restaurant I have ever had in my life, but of the churrascarias (grill restaurants) I went to during my stay in Brazil, this one was by far the best value (Rio churrascarias were overpriced!) and left me with satisfied with a full stomach and feeling sort of like a local.

The restaurant is very simple, unpretentious, but very nice. Easy to park, at least at night. The beer was very cold, they serve you different kinds of salad (simple ones) but the potato salad, without eggs was very good. The meat is difficult to say which was the best - cattle rib, pork or lamb ribs. Pork was served in two different ways, both also very goods. It was worth eating there. I recomend.
