We wanted to visit here after seeing this restaurant on Gino's coastal Italian escapes and it was truly a great experience. You choose your meats which are then weighed and that is the price of your meal, it is then added to the most amazing jacket potatoes and salad , bread and local wine, the simplest of ideas and not expensive, but the result is the most amazing taste. This restaurant is situated down the lovely little cobbled streets in Cisternino.A must visit , they do not take bookings , first come first served basis, they open at 1930 which I would advise that you go then as the later you go you will not get in as they can have queues around the corner as it is so popular.

DELICIOUS FOOD FROM A LOVELY VILLAGE âAl vecchio fornelloâ (âAt the Ole Stoveâ) is a really ancient butcherâs shop and restaurant placed in the historic centre of Cisternino (one of the most beautiful villages in Italy). Sante, the owner, made his dream c
Visited this restaurant last week. The food was amazing. We picked our meat, it was weighed then cooked for us. The butcher explained what all the meats were and what the bombette's were stuffed with. We had local ham & cheeses to start with ( which were lovely, but really not needed). The meat came and we had ordered potatoes and some veg with it. Everything was delicious, No room for desert!

The food here did not disappoint. The steak was phenomenal, especially the eye of the fillet, wow, it was like melt in the mouth butter. The staff were lovely and one of them helped to translate our requirements, amazing.

Why three points third time around? Despite having upgraded chairs and tables and maintaining the standard of the food, the welcome has become brusque and beware if you haven't reserved (???) really? for a street restaurant where we non-italians are usually eating and hour if not more before the italians do.So I would no longer return as there is food just as good with friendly, welcoming service in the butcher shops in the surrounding area.If a quick, cheap bite is what you're after than it still remains an excellent place to feed yourself - beef carpaccio excellent.

We only ate at one rostericcia in Cisternino, but were really impressed with the quality and flavour of meat. We ordered the mixed plate and there was nothing that wasnât top quality. The bombettes with oozy mozzarella in the middle were perfect, lamb well cooked, and tasty well seasoned sausage. However the meat is absolutely the star of the show here, and the other items we ordered were only ok; the antipasti was ordinary and very small portions, and the salad was just iceberg lettuce. The house red was very cheap and just about drinkable.Fantastic atmosphere, very busy, but service was, on the whole, good. Do make a reservation in advance if you donât want to be disappointed.

I've been to this family owned restaurant many times over the years and it continues to be a great place to go for well-prepared, traditional Puglian cuisine. Set in an underground cellar with high vaulted ceilings, the cozy dining room is comfortable and the service is friendly, professional and helpful. Prices are more than reasonable considering the quality of the offerings.

We found this place quite by chance, you pick the meats you want from a butcherâs style counter, they have steaks, sausages, bombettes, chicken wings and a whole host of local delicacies. They seat you in the restaurant and you can choose drinks, appetisers and side dishes for your mains. They were really helpful and friendly and this was the only place in Puglia that we visited more than once! Itâs full of locals and always busy so you know itâs going to be good and reasonably priced too.

This place is a hidden gem when it comes to sea food. It is really fresh food serving different kinds of dishes including oyster, octopus, salmon and raw fish. It is a family environment and definitely worth the visit when visiting Fasano city and other cities around.

On the quality/cost dimension, Il Cortiletto is a true gastronomic phenomenon that rightly deserves the plaudits that it has received. Given all the positive reviews the restaurant has received, I can add little more than that we had such an enjoyable dinner that we returned the next day for lunch. This was perhaps a mistake, as I was surprised to find the menu unchanged from that of dinner the night before. This perhaps is Il Cortilletto's 'Achilles Heal' in that, in my experience, when a restaurant relies on a formula it can easily become stale. If the owner(s) read this I would encourage them to be brave and experiment a bit more - and certainly via a different lunch menu. Otherwise, 'mille grazie'
