Food has always been good for the price and much better than the nearby barbecue options. Service and food delivery have often been slow. We went recently for Sunday luch, arriving at 1 and finding the restaurant a little over half full. We chose our table and sat down. After about ten minutes we left. We commented to the server at the door that we were leaving because we had not been acknowledged. Response: Sorry I was not fast enough for you.

Sonny's BBQ of Ocala. Southern BBQ at its finest. Slow-smoking favorites like pulled pork, ribs, brisket since 1968.
we waited a few minutes to be seated we were a group and the hostess had to ensure we had a large enough table. our waitress was wonderful, pleasent, helpful and spot on. the food was delicious. the salad bar was fully stocked with fresh salads and dressings. the salad plates were given to us and they were cold for the salads.

Needed lunch, SP&C was convenient so in we went. Restaurant and restrooms both very clean. Salad bar well stocked; however, the pasta and potato salads tasted like they came straight outta a can and probably did. The cole slaw was some of the best we have ever eaten. The corn chowder was very delicious; it was very thick, tasty and flavorful, I could have made a meal of it. His pulled pork was tender and savory. My chopped steak was dry and needed seasoning. Our server was not friendly nor helpful. It was difficult to get one coffee refill and impossible to get a second, no welcome, no thank you, not much customer service or PR at all. Food still much improved since my last visit.

Stopped on our way east to the beach. Always like this particular Sonny's location. Tried a BBQ salad with chopped brisket added. Yummy! Highly recommend if you don't what a sandwich. My hubby choose his go-to pulled pork sandwich and baked beans. Great service, even with it so busy. You can always depend on Sonny's.

We're a local restaurant and sports bar located on SE 17th Street at the intersection of SE 3rd Avenue, in Churchill Square, right in front of Publix. Come hang out, watch sports, be yourself and enjoy the company of others without breaking the bank. We a
My family of four went there on a Tuesday evening for their kids eat free special. We were seated at a booth near the bar which would have been fine except there was a highly intoxicated man about 5 feet away from our table who was super loud and using really foul language. I'm not exaggerating in saying that he used multiple curse words in each and every sentence. In my opinion, the restaurant staff failed by not addressing his vulgarity and by continuing to serve him knowing that they were partially responsible for putting a drunk driver out on the road. It was a spectacle and definitely took away from our meal as I had to try to distract my children so they wouldn't hear what he was saying.Putting this negative part of the experience aside, everything else was good. The menu is huge and reasonably priced. Our server was attentive and efficient, and the food was cooked well and flavorful. Overall, this restaurant is a good choice for adults, but I would use caution if bringing children here and specifically ask for a table far away from the bar.Oh no, TravelersM2M! I confess to being particular when it comes to good BBQ. While larger chain BBQ restaurants like Sonny's serve their purpose, it's often the smaller chains or independent places that serve up the real-deal 'Que that is worth going out of the way for. Brick City Southern Kitchen, located in the downtown square of Ocala, is part of a small chain of restaurants under the Mojo brand. One of my favorite BBQ places in the Central Florida area is also a small chain (4 Rivers), so I went in with fairly high expectations. The interior is fairly large and takes a page from a more urban, industrial look, a welcome departure for the area. It's one large open space with plenty of room for tables and a large bar on one side. The walls also contained a few folk-art-like pieces of art and sculptures, which turned what would have been ordinary into something interesting. Patio seating in front of the restaurant overlooking the downtown square is also available. The menu is fairly extensive with BBQ, seafood, burgers, and various plates and platters being offered. Itâs rare for kitchens to be able to pull off large menus and still serve really good food, but thankfully this is such a place. My wife went with the blackened catfish sandwich, served with the hand-cut fries as one side. I went with the burnt-ends, which is listed as an appetizer but for a little extra money can be ordered as a platter, and I chose the fries and sweet potato mash as my sides. My wife's sandwich was large and had that look to it that you instantly knew it would be good. She enjoyed every bite of the properly cooked and seasoned fish, maintaining very good flavor the entire time. It was substantial and filling, yet was so good she couldnât stop eating it.My burnt-ends were served cubed, which was different than I am used to, but they had that classic color ring between the meat and exterior char. They had a melt-in-your-mouth texture that worked really well...each bite savory and enjoyable. While the ends were good on their own (a sign of good 'Q'), I liked mixing them with the five or six sauces that were on the table. All of the sides were good but my sweet potato mash was a real stand-out. The fries were of good size, quality, and had a very good potato flavor. Service was prompt and friendly. In all this was a solid BBQ option (with other good food as well) and Iâm glad to see such a good addition to the area, which lacked a really good BBQ option until now. Weâll be back.
