Reviews on Barbecue food in Milledgeville, Georgia, United States. Milledgeville is a city in and the county seat of Baldwin County in the U.S. state of Georgia. It is northeast of Macon and bordered on the east by the Oconee River. The rapid current of the river here made this an attractive location to build a city. It was the capital of Georgia from 1804 to 1868, notably during the American Civil War. Milledgeville was preceded as the capital city by Louisville and was succeeded by Atlanta, the current capital. Today U.S. Highway 441 connects Milledgeville to Madison, Athens, and Dublin.

You could not taste the pulled pork from the salt and the vinegar. It was mostly salt and vinegar and maybe a little taste of pork. The baked beans were even worse. So salty you could barely eat them

Shade Tree BBQ opened in the old Paradise BBQ location a few (?) weeks ago. I have read nothing but rave reviews about it since it opened. We had the opportunity to eat there; so we took advantage of it.One thing that seems to be a problem is that they (by looking at fb) seem to often run out of food. Today, they ran out of chicken while we were there and we did not get the amount ordered.Also, there only seemed to be one person on duty to take care of everything. A bit much for one, in my opinion-- especially with people eating there who wanted beverage refills; but also people coming in to order food to go.The pulled pork and chicken ( we ordered a 2 meat plate) were really good-- without-- and with sauce. I can understand why they have a problem keeping enough on hand.... still it is frustrating for a restaurant not to have enough food--- especially when they are only open 3 days a week. I was not really impressed with any of the sides-- but I am very picky. My husband enjoyed them very much. If you eat in and like to drink water, tea, coke, etc with your meal-- be advised that they serve by the plastic bottle-- So I assume they charge each time you need something besides tea. Tea is $2; the others are $1. I asked for a 'regular' glass of ice water (she brought out a bottle)-- and I could not get it. So, not wanting to pay for a lot of meals to be delivered-- I ordered tea. I had to get up and ask when I needed more.... She was very busy; handling everything on her own. The tea was really good.We apologize for the delay in this response, during the time of your review we were only a month into being open and had some staffing difficulties as well as family medical issues during that time which would explain the lack of help. We no longer offer bottled water just tap and we never charge for refills on any beverage. We are currently working with Coke to install a fountain drink machine to allow customers the ease of beverage replenishment.Being a small family run business we are trying our best to fulfill customers food desires while also ensure the freshest quality is being offered. We feel that selling out of certain food items is better than to waste product. We thank you for your feedback.
