We had been wandering around Civita Castellana after a quick visit to nearby Calcata and suddenly realised that it was getting late for lunch. But that was no problem for Il Buttero, who were still accepting customers at 14.40 (maybe because it was Sunday). Quite a few Italian families enjoying their meal and it took a bit of time for our food to arrive but it was tasty and well presented. The chocolate tart is certainly worth trying.(The restaurant is down a small street off the main drag but still pretty central and well signposted.)

I could tell lots of good things about the wild pig ragu sauce or the pig medallions or some other dishes we tried at Mignolo, since food was really exquisite. You will not find "nouvelle cuisine" here but real great traditional local food, served in very good portions.Again, this is not (only) what surprised me.It was actually the bill we got: 70 Euros for 4 pastas (they did not charge mine since I brought the gluten free pasta myself!!!) appetizers, a couple of seconds, wine and three desserts.I could not believe to my eyes: such a quality at that price! And kindness since they din not charge for the gluten free pasta, even though the prepared it and did my second course again since accidentally there was some bread on it.Hints: - try the wild pig ragu- go there early, around 12:30 during week end. Then it gets really busy

Welcoming and service wasn't so friendly than other places during these weeks. Service was quick but when waitress took our order, it was unclear for us what will come... She couldn't answer for all our questions in English and we didn't know Italian so well. Anyway, food was just like we ordered. Pizzas were ok, not so crispy as somewhere else. It was good that they had sharpened knives. And yes, service was 1,50 â¬/person. Nowhere else outside big cities there hasn't been that fee. Food was a little bit more expensive.

We visited the restaurant during our holiday in Italy - we were 15 and the staff catered for us really well. Have to say leave room for the antipasti - absolutely LOVELY! Great local wines. This is a beautiful, airy restaurant surrounded by rolling hills and big skies, but it's the artful food and wine that takes centerstage. Everything is delicious and flavorful, delicately plated. Since all produce is all natural and sourced from the onsite farm, from the wagu beef to the berries used to cream the butter for pink frosting, the flavors are incomparable.I had perfectly poached eggs with shaved white truffles on butter fried brioche garnished with micro greens for one meal. Silky, richly marbled wagu beef and crisp, wafer-thin prosciutto came before the plump, dense tortellini stuffed with fresh goat cheese. Each bite, I washed down with a sip of the reasonably priced but excellent house white. Dessert was apple done three ways - each a work of art with tangy, sweet apple bites turned into tart, a moist cake, or deconstructed inverse pie. I only spent a day there, but time really did stand still, and I left replensihed, relaxed, and calm.

Stayed her once again on our way to Fiumicino. Rooms are simple and very reasonable. The restaurant is the star. In August, weather permitting, dinner is outside and my wife and I always have the same dish, veal chop freshly cut from a large piece of veal. Then grilled on a barbeque to perfection by the same man who has been cooking there since, at least, our first visit in 1999. A great last memory of Italy before flying back to Asia.We have already booked for our return visit in July this year.Many many thanks for your review!!!It is so nice for all of us to know that on the other side of the world, there are special people like you who love to come and visit us from time to time!I will be waiting for you to come back in July and I will be more than happy to make a special toast with you to celebrate this "super special" 19th anniversary with us!!!

The restaurant is in the same structure as the hotel, but is separate in all respects. It is not elegant, but the food was superb. Everything is fresh, seasonal, an much of it made in-house. The service throughout the meal was friendly, attentive and they are clearly proud of their cooking. It is worth a detour to eat there. The bill for two complete meals plus wine and water was quite reasonable.
