Although much of Jacksonville is urban, this sprawling northeastern Florida city also has nature and wildlife preserves, historic residential neighborhoods and lots of golf courses. Attractions in Jax, as the locals call it, range from art, science and history museums to a brewery tour, from the Jacksonville Landing entertainment complex, along the St. John's River, to Bronson Motor Speedway. I use to consider Gilbert's Social a good place to get ribs, but anymore. The integrity of business is a zero, due to inconsistency of food quality. My last few visits were VERY disappointing to burnt ribs and greasy Brussels sprouts, the paper carryout was considered the grease drainer. I mentioned to cashier of previous experience of greasy sprouts, she advised the carry out container would "soak it up."Management addressed my customer dissatisfaction with coupon. However, the service was the same. So please dine to see your food, because a to go order will have you playing the game, hide and seek, now what can I eat? Oh, another piece of burnt meat. It's like eating mini toothpicks, dried edges and depleted moisture.

OMGOSH The food was AMAZING. They were all very friendly, very informative and very genuine from The moment you walk through the door. My wife I got brisket, son got a brisket sandwich and daughter got a slider. EVERY SINGLE ONE OF US ARE IMPRESSED. MISSIONBBQ WAAAAAAYYYYYYY BETTER THAN SONNYS & BONOS. Thank you for the amazing food you just gained my family and I. 5 stars is not enough it supersedes 5, 10, 20 stars. Dang sooooo freaking good. Thanks for your review!
If you plan to use a Groupon, avoid this place. We had friends come from out of state to celebrate my twin nephews birthday and we planned to eat there after the kids went to Bravoz. We told our friends that there was a Groupon if they were interested as they have four people in their party and we had four people as well. Well, they bought one and we bought one also. We were two separate families, that arrived in two separate cars and sat at two separate tables. BUT, because we KNEW each other, they REFUSED to honor one of the Groupons. We explained that we were separate families and it would be separate checks, but the owner continued to say it was against Groupon policy. The fine print clearly states one Groupon per table. We were at two different tables (one was a high top and one regular as we had a disabled person with us). So, bottom line, we decided to eat elsewhere and my friends and I have contacted Groupon for a refund as I canât give business to an entity that doesnât honor their own discounts and are rude about it.I am sorry you feel this was as we sold many groupons and you are the first one to say we do not honor the group. I was told when you came in to eat you said you had a party of 9 and you picked the 2 tables you sat at. so as far as staff was concerned you where 1 party please look at the fine print on Groupon. The Fine PrintPromotional value expires 120 days after purchase. Amount paid never expires. Limit 1 per person, may buy 1 additional as gift(s). May be repurchased every 30 days. Limit 1 per visit. Limit 1 per table. Valid only for option purchased. Not valid with other offers or promotions. Merchant is solely responsible to purchasers for the care and quality of the advertised goods and services. Thanks hope you have a great day. and I have talked to groupon and they said they would refund you your money.

I came here for lunch on a Wednesday with a group of co-workers and we were immediately seated. Service was fast and very friendly.I started with a cup of Brunswick stew and it was full of goodies.Three of five of us ordered pulled pork sandwiches with various sides. One of us ordered a Sloppy Mojo, which is a combination of pulled pork and beef. The sandwiches were higher priced than Sonny's or Bono's but you get what you paid for. The pulled pork was super tender and juicy. And it was HUGE. I pulled out over half of the meat and still didn't finish the sandwich. I used the leftover meat to make carnitas tacos at home that night. My only complaint is that the acoustics were terrible and I could hardly hear the waitress of my companions. But I did not rate the food based on the atmosphere.Everybody loved what they had and we want to go back sometime.

I ran by Gator's BBQ for a quick lunch in Jacksonville. The restaurant is near the I-10 and I-295 interchange. Parking is limited due to popularity. There is a reason the place is popular. The food and bbq sauces are outstanding! I had the bbq pork sandwich with macaroni salad. The pork was sweet and had an excellent smoky flavor. There were no grisly or bad pieces at all. I enjoyed all the sauces, but the sweet and gold sauces were my favorites. The sweet tea, while good, was a bit too sweet even for my southern palate. At the end of the meal, delicious banana pudding was handed out complementary! The price for all this was only $8 making it a really good deal. I really enjoyed Gator's BBQ and look forward to returning!

4 Rivers is a family-owned smokehouse specializing in 30-day aged brisket, homemade southern sides and fresh bakery items.
Because my wife and I love BBQ, we decided to try this place in spite of the negative reviews. Boy are we glad we did. The food was AWESOME!! Folks behind the counter were super friendly and accommodating. I wanted the burnt ends and the gentleman behind the counter wasn't satisfied with what was out, so he hollered back to the pit and they brought out some fresh ones. Wife had slided Brisket (and we always ask for extra fat). The meat was HEAVENLY! Every side we tried was also fantastic. I now understand what folks mean when they talk about food porn. This food was so good, I felt like I needed a cigarette afterward! ha ha. While we were enjoying our meal, one of the pit masters brought us out a sample of tri-tip (or whatever he called it). it was so delicious, better than prime rib. All i can say, despite other negative reviews here is, OH MY GOD!

Cash only. Its worth every penny. Friday and Saturday Evening, Reservations are required for the Dinner Extravaganza....its an experience you won't want to miss!
OK so maybe not strong on atmosphere, but the food was terrific and plentiful.. Huge plate of lightly breaded fired shrimp cooked perfectly accompanied by a serve yourself bar of grits, collards, homemade fried green tomatoes, cole slaw, maruinated green bean and tomato salad--comfort food southern style. The price was very very reasonable and refills on shrimp were delivered quickly. Parking can be tight.
