The Smokeshack is a takeaway only joint just off of MD 210 on Livingston Road, and worth a stop as a real-food alternative to chains. We ordered the North Carolina (NC) style pork sandwiches with beans, potato salad, and greens, and found the sauce to be piquant but not overly vinegar-y, and the meat soft and tender. The beans were on he sweet side, with touches of cinnamon rather than a spicy take, so keep that in mind if you like beans that taste straight-up of brown sugar & butter! The potato salad was a mild mustard type and nicely integrated. We couldn't wait so we ate in our car in the parking lot...along with others!

This place is cool, nice casual restaurant with a make you feel at home atmosphere. The waitress was awesome, great attitude and super nice. Service is on point, fast and friendly!! Good beer selection and the menu has many choices of smoked/bbq meats, sides, appetizers, and desserts all very southern!!. We ordered the smoked deviled eggs for an appetizer then different meals, sides and shared everything. All the food we had was very well executed, meats nicely smokey moist and fall off the bone. Sides were all flavored very well and the collards were cooked perfectly not overcooked!!! We also ordered the cornbread cupcakes with the maple butter which were insanely yummy. There are three homemade BBQ sauces on the table which were a bit sweet as we like lots of chilis but all had great flavor, my favorite was the mustard BBQ sauce!
