Chain restaurants are normally my last resort but we decided to try Shaneâs based on some very good reviews.I was surprised to see Brunswick Stew was on the menu. It was excellent, maybe the best Brunswick Stew I have eaten.I look forward to visiting this restaurant again soon.

I do not speak or look like a southerner. And was treated as such. I really believe they didn't like my kind. I was polite, they were not. Waited annoyingly long to submit our order. And after the third time, for refills, the waitress ignored us, we left.

Our hotel staff recommended this BBQ spot. I'm vege, but my wife wanted to compare NC BBQ with that of the Houston area, whence we'd just come. She said her pulled beef was good, so I'll take her word for it! For me, the staff prepared a nice baked potato and I hit their (small-but-adequate) salad bar. I was well-treated in that respect, including the "hush puppies" we were served as an included appetizer. The vibe is definitely super-casual, as you might surmise from the name of the place (!), but definitely worth a try.

This is an old school restaurant that still offers curbhop service or inside dinning. They offer bbq, cheeseburgers, hotdogs and other sandwiches. They also have a unique sauce, slaw, and dip that makes their sandwiches delicious and different. Recently we stopped in for dinner. I opted to go inside and order instead of using the curb service. Once inside I was greeted and my order was promptly taken. I like their bbq but today was a different choice. A roast pork on toast with lettuce, tomato, and mayo an order of onion rings and an extra large tea with crushed ice. I returned to our vehicle to eat after my order was completed and bagged. The onion rings hot and crispy, the roast pork sandwich thick and filling, and a very sweet tea. An enjoyable classic retro style drive in meal.

Several guys have highly recommended the Kyle Fletcherâs cheeseburger to me as the best in Gaston County. I finally ate one this week, and I must disagree. Iâve eaten Kyle Fletcherâs BBQ for years, mostly on fundraising plates Iâve ordered from Boy Scouts and bands and other organizations. Iâd never eaten a burger from there because I believe you eat BBQ at BBQ restaurants. But so many told me to try the KF burger. So I did. The large burger is HUGE. I actually cut mine in half to eat it. Itâs hand-pattied meat. The veggies were fresh. The bun was fresh. But the meat, while tender, was bland. It wasnât seasoned at all, not even a little salt and pepper. It just tasted like it came out of the ground beef pack and onto the grill. And it wasnât as tender as burgers at my favorite places in Gaston County, NC. In terms of beef taste, I make a better burger at home. I canât complain about the quantity for the price. $5 wasnât much to pay for such a large sandwich. The cheese fries my wife and I shared were good, covered in real melted shredded cheddar cheese. But again, I couldâve done it better at home. All that cheese was orchestrated in a way that made the fries mostly soggy. I didnât like that. They were actually dripping with cheese grease in places, unfortunately. My wife enjoyed the bologna sandwich she got. It was also HUGE. It had great flavor. To my taste, I actually prefer bologna to not be so very thick. But it was good. Our service was excellent. Our tea cups stayed full. We were served delicious sweet hushpuppies as a complimentary appetizer. Iâd definitely eat at KF again. But Iâd stick to the BBQ, as I believe one should do at a BBQ joint. I like to take othersâ recommendations sometimes, but they donât always prove to be true, at least not to my agreement.

My husband and I had an early dinner here before the dinner rush. Service was friendly. We started with smoked then fried wings which had a good smoke going. I wouldâve liked them cooked slightly more for added tenderness. Husband had the burger which he said was good. I had a chef salad I ordered minus ham, but with plenty smoked turkey. The turkey was good. The salad greens are just iceberg. The serving of blue cheese dressing was extremely generous. We will probably return on a Thursday night for their once a week brisket.overall, we had a good meal, but the competition in town is stiff.
