Cuijk (Dutch pronunciation: [kœyk] ( listen)) is a municipality and a town in upper southeastern Netherlands of pre-historic origin. Its existence is recorded on the Roman roadmap Tabula Peutingeriana under the name of Ceuclum. Cuijk is twinned with Maldon in Essex, UK. It is a big commuter town with very good public transport services to nearby Nijmegen. The restaurant's interior is in American style, obviously matching the BBQ theme. The tables are widely spaced. The acoustics could have been better, you can hear the chatter from the other tables. The car park is across the street. The meat is excellent. The spare ribs are slow cooked so the meat falls off the bones when you cut it. The aged beef is prepared by the restaurant itself and I would highly recommend it. The t-bone is bit to chewy for me: too much fat and sinew. We ordered a bottle of Cote Solei (Merlot) and it suits the dishes. It is soft and easy drinking without being too dominant in taste.

We found this restaurant on TripAdvisor and as we wanted to have a great steak, we decided to take the 30 minutes drive to this restaurant. The restaurant is, as advertised, in "Pirate Style". We arrived around 7pm, but found the restaurant quite empty. Because of the very nice weather, a number of people were sitting outside, inside was almost empty. We opted for an inside table. Inside, the restaurant is really nicely decorated in the style of a (pirate) ship, definitely worth a thumbs up. I think the finishing touch could have been the staff in more pirate-like uniforms, but hey, it is not Disney of course. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The menu tells about how dedicated they are to their steaks, including the explanation of their charcoal grill. They have all kinds of steaks, normal and dry-aged, small and large. Me and my partner ordered the T-Bone steak and the entrecote, both medium.Unfortunately, both steaks were served medium rare, almost rare. We asked them to fix the situation, but upon return, the steaks were medium well, almost well done. Although the staff did apologise, I think there is no real excuse for this.As you pretend to be a really good steakhouse, you can not mess this up on both steaks twice. Especially if the restaurant is almost empty and you have to time to spend to do it right. This is your bread-and-butter. Furthermore, I tasted both steaks when served medium rare. They were definitely not bad steaks, and in a regular bar, pub or run-of-the-mill restaurant, they would have been great. In this steakhouse, they were "okay-ish". I have experienced better quality steaks elsewhere, even for the same price. The fries are the default "we do not bother creating our own fries and just buy big bags of industrial produced fries". Could have been the McDonalds fries. I also ordered a pepper sauce on the side (and separate) in case the steaks were just average. The pepper sauce turned out to be some tasteless white generic sauce with some light hints of pepper. I guess this was from some industrial produced bottle as well. Hey guys, just spend a little bit of time and effort on the sides. Will we visit again? Maybe ... if we are in the neighbourhood we might give it a second try and see if this first visit was a one-off fail. Based on other reviews and the friendly staff, it might not have been their lucky day.So if you head out to this restaurant, be prepared for either a great dinner or a not-so-great dinner.

Read the reviews and made a point of stopping in Nijmegen for dinner at this restaurant. Arrived about 6.15pm and fortunately there was a vacant table in the busy restaurant. We both ordered the Tournedos, but received only one order of Tournedos and one order of Chefâs Beef. Rather than wait, we accepted the dishes which were served with fried potatoes and sauerkraut. Both meals were preceded by bread with 3 varieties of dips. The portions were large. Fortunately we didnât order starters or desserts. Reasonably priced at just 30 Euros each.
