Looking for some good local BBQ, we kept hearing the name Hard Eight. It didn't disappoint. You walk in and pick your plate right off the smoker. The pit masters are eager to help and advise you on what to try. They'll even pass you a sample! I went with the classic brisket and jalapeño sausage. Both were about as good as it gets - smokey, tender, juicy and loaded with levels of flavor. Now, the roast corn was good, but not great and I doubt I'd order cornbread salad again, but Hard Eight isn't about the sides. It's all on the meat and they do it very well.

Beef is tender and not super-greasy, turkey is succulent and ribs tender. It's not the "Hard 8" but there aren't smokey clothes or long lines either. Good stuff

We went to this barbecue restaurant because it was the only one open that was close. It was near nine pm and they were completely out of brisket and chicken. I had some turkey and Jalapeno sausage. The food was merely average and forgettable. There was a football team having a party, so it was noisy. We ate and left. Service was non-existent, so I can't rate it. I'm sure I will not bother to come back, even if just to sample the brisket.

Had the baby backs 1/2 rack meal plate. These ribs were perfect....the fat had caramalized perfectly, tasty and not runny, just enough smoke flavor but not overpowering, could still taste the pork meat. Potato salad full of fresh chunks of potato and just enough mayo and stuff to hold it together. Took a point off for using canned beans but their sweet(er) sauce was also a hit. Cute little place, nice front desk lady wanted to make sure I had everything needed to eat back at the hotel room. I'll go back for sure.
