Things to do in Canyon Lake
This is right by the horseshoe on the border of New Braunfels and Canyon Lake. Eating area left a lot to be desired (outdoor picnic tables.. outdoors) and because of its location it was a bit more expensive then a normal texas bbq joint. That said, the food was brought out in a timely manner, the staff was friendly, and the Brisket was OUTSTANDING. If you are tubing I recommend taking advantage of some great BBQ.
On a beautiful fall day with rare brisk temperatures in Texas we embarked on a task to find an âauthenticâ pumpkin patch. Alas after multiple attempts we are beginning to accept that pumpkins are not native to Texas and actual fields with cut your own pumpkins do not exist in this region. So just do me a favor Texas and please stop calling them âpumpkin patchesâ-call them âpumpkin stallsâ or âharvest festivalsâ or âpumpkins for saleâ or âpumpkins on a tableâ.....So instead of our usual family tradition which is absent from the available options, we settled on this year venturing out to try Stahlmanâs market. Below are my observations. The market visually was beautiful, an old wooden building with farm to market appeal oozing at the onset. Free parking, bathrooms! So far so good! We saw large outdoor displays of fresh produce and a massive selection of funky gourds and pumpkins of various sizes shapes and colors. In crates and tables and pre picked bins. The indoor offerings were equally delicious, I purchased a banana bread and apple cider from the refrigerator and we spent a few hours in the picnic area outdoors basking in the sun and visiting with friends. The BBQ was tasty, and we enjoyed speaking with the outdoor staff. The proprietor was a curious duck. He seemed to want to engage with everyone in a very obnoxious way, which I didnât really care for. I think he was trying to be friendly? He made sure to mention his amazing beef that sells out constantly. Look-by all means-peddle away, but I came for the pumpkins.A special note for the pretty photo op, they had a little vintage caravan decorated in a autumn scene, too cute. PSA rant-I didnât care for the group of young girls who approached me with my infant and asked me to snap a photo of them-this is not my social obligation and I really wish people would not ask parents with young children this completely unnecessary demand-I have 900 thousand more important things on my mind then helping you come up with a woke social media profile pic. Hiss! Thatâs right-I hiss at you!
We purchased 2 family packs of mixed Brisket & Sausage right before closing. Brisket was a tad dry, but was tender. Sauces, sausage & sides were great. Good old fashioned Texas BBQ. Place looks like a simple roadside stand but they have a commercial pit to get a nice smoked flavor. Great friendly staff. Notes: If you want bbq chicken call & order it at least an hour ahead. If using a credit card, I.D. required.

We have eaten meals at a wide array of places inside and outside San Antonio. The Real BBQ Pit beats them all so far.The portions were great. The smoked meat even better, but the value is what impressed us the most.We got a family meal with 2 meats and 2 large sides, plus 2 huge drinks for under $23 after taxes. The brisket was flavorful, moist and had a nice smoke ring. It was thickly sliced and perfectly smoked, perfectly tender and well seasoned. Iâd rate it the best Iâve had in ages. The pork came as a pleasant surprise. I wanted to double down on the beef, but my wife asked for pork. It was pork-loin not shoulder (butt). Similar to the brisket it was spot on as far as flavor, moisture and seasoning. I still canât believe how much I enjoyed it.Side portions were plentiful. The only bad thing I can find to say is that the Mac and cheese wasnât smoked, which sounds ridiculous even to me.Summary; the portions were great, the meat was well smoked, tasted great and was nice and moist. Service was friendly and fast. The pricing/value make a great place even greater. If you are anywhere near this place you have to try it!!! If you passed it 30 minutes ago; turn around and go back.

This is one of our favorite spots at Canyon Lake! Their brisket is the bomb, and we love their jalapeño sausage too. Order yourself a two meat plate with macaroni and cheese and potato salad and enjoy! If that doesnât sound good enough, you canât really go wrong with any of their meats and sides. They also have specialty sodas if you are into that too.

We love taking mini vacations to Canyon Lake Texas , so nice to spend the day on the lake and end with a nice meal overlooking the lake . I ordered 3 meat bar b que plate , expected the little samples of each like you get at typical bar b que big box restaurants, but this was an unbelievable amount of food . Had enough leftovers for another meal . Will definitely be going back !
