Reviews on Bar food in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. Any city that can be the butt of a Simpson's joke ("That's it! We're all going back to Winnipeg!") and simultaneously one of the most vibrant cultural centers in Canada is tops in our book. The city's history of isolation and self-sufficiency means that Winnipeggers are unpretentious and sincere (and fun-loving enough to name Homer an honorary citizen). Though the winters are long and cold, there are plenty of indoor activities to both keep you warm and stimulate your imagination.

My husband and I have eaten often at this restaurant over the last few years... it is consistently delicious ... you are guaranteed an awesome meal with outstanding service. There isn't a dish we havenât loved. The Salmon and Pickerel dishes are my favourites and my husband adores the baby back ribs and the signature burger. Great soups and salads and the Ahi Tuna Roll is a staple appetizer. Bon Appetit!

I have always wanted to go to the Canadian Brewhouse but never had a reason until the other day! They had "Disney Princess Trivia" - I understand that the trivia was put on by another company but WOW! The restaurant really had no idea what to do/how it works/where to sit us etc Very sad that they were not able just to have saved one entire section for Disney trivia people instead we were all around the room and it was impossible to hear when the girl was asking the questions (it was through a microphone butt he acoustics were terrible. 2nd our server! It was as if she had never worked a large party! Messed up on our orders - I had to press this "button thing for numerous times" to get her to come over etc; my friend had to wait over 30 minutes for yam fries?!?! she said Oh, the kitchen is really busy - and I had to ask numerous times for another glass of wine. Overall, not impressed - yes - nachos are delicious but for the service etc don't know if i would go back!Hi Anna - Thanks for letting us know about your experience. I do apologize that your reservation was not set up in advance - for these events, we are given a list of reservations from the event organizers to set up. The space we provide for trivia events is in fact all together, it occupies 80% of our room; your group was seated in a different section only because we did not have the reservation on the list we were provided. I do apologize for the wait that you experienced - with an event of 150 people that starts at a specific time, it can impact food and drink times. While these events are fun and bring new guests through our doors, they do not provide the same experience as coming in for a regular visit. We would love to have you back so you can see what we are all about! If you have a moment, please reach out to me at [email protected] so we can discuss this further. Thanks again

Instead of just one chef, we have a whole team of celebrated Executive Chefs bringing you an experience you canât get anywhere else. We believe in handcrafted, locally and globally inspired menu offerings. With 27 JOEY Restaurant locations across Canada,
We are travelling through Winnipeg for two nights and chose Joey based on reviews. We opted for Happy Hour, and sat in the bar. Our server, Jane, and the others were very friendly and provided perfect service. Our food was served hot and was delicious. The fries were sooooo good, as were the sliders, the chicken lettuce wraps, and the wines.Thank you for choosing JOEY Polo Park. We are thrilled to hear that you enjoyed your experience with us. We will be sure to share this wonderful feedback with the team and Jane. Thank you and hope that you drop in again soon.Shannon LewickiBar Manager

Located just a 2 minute drive from Winnipeg, Jonesyâs serves fresh homemade meals in a cozy and comfortable atmosphere. Fully licensed dining room and a lounge with VLTâs and daily drink specials. Reservation welcome.
Went over Saturday night for dinner with friends and the place was absolutely packed. We were a party of 6 and placed our name with hostess for seating. Took about an hour to get seated in the lounge area. Several other groups that arrived after us ( with no reservation) were seated before us . Additionally several folks said they were going to play VLTâs in lounge however I followed them to check this out. They simply jumped into an empty table just vacated by others and ordered drinks. Needless to say I wasnât impressed by the line jumping. Normally Iâd have left but it was after 8:30 pm , I was hungry and weâre there to celebrate with friends so I patiently hung in there. Table Service then took awhile to materialize. Finally our server came for our beverage order . She seemed none to enthusiastic when we just 1 ordered an alcoholic beverage. We had drinks prior to coming to eat so didnât feel compelled to load up on more alcohol at that point. We memorized the menu virtually by the time we got to place our orders. When the meals arrived we were famished. The 2 orders of full rack of ribs were well done and of reasonable size. The fries tasty and hot too. The Caesar salad substiture for the slaw was disappointing. The small dish with the limp romaine, felt like it hadnât been washed prior to serving. My other guests did however like their meals . The beyond burger got a thumbs up as did the cauliflower bites, chicken over rice and poutine. Disappointed that no baked potatoes were available though. This is not our first time frequenting Jonesyâs. Maybe the enhanced ratings on trip advisor have increased customer volume beyond the scope of the staff and seating capacity of this location. I gave the 4 star rating on food but it would be a 1 star on service this visit. Hopefully this experience was a one off as we have long appreciated the Joneyâs Food and have spoken positively about the establishment.Hello,Thanks for taking the time to write a review. I apologize for the longer than average wait time. We were as you saw, crazy busy. I can assure you there was no line skipping. When a person sits down on their own they would not have menus which alerts the server that they were not seated by a hostess and we let them know that there is a wait list and ask them to check in at the door to wait for a table. We had reservations right up until 8:45 so people that got in before you were either a smaller party or had a reservation. As you were a party of six, we had to wait until a large enough table opened up for you as many of our tables seat 2 to 4 guests. I was actually there and recall rushing to set up your table for 6 as soon as a large enough table became available. Iâm glad that after your long wait everyone mostly enjoyed their food. We definitely wash our lettuce but Iâm guessing that your salad was sitting for longer than it should have before being served and this caused it to be limp. We would have been happy to remake it had we known but Iâm sorry as it should have been crisp to begin with. Saturday was in fact one of our busiest days ever and Iâm sure your server was more likely a little overwhelmed with the whole evening rather than being disappointed in the fact you did not order alcoholic beverages. Many folks just order water or soft drinks so it is not unusual. I hope you will give us another shot as this is not the typical service experience for Jonesyâs. We are grateful for your long time patronage and hate to disappoint anyone, especially our regulars.

We are a locally owned brewery and restaurant in the heart of St. James in Winnipeg,MB. We focus on house made beers, scratch cooking, great selection of liquors, wines and cocktails. All in a comfortable and upbeat environment.
I use the term âeatsâ as this is not fine cuisine. The French fries are a disaster, however the pickerel was fairly good. The Caesar salad was pleasant. The on site beer was bitter. Overall the food was fairly decent. The service was very good, attentive without being overwhelming. Now the real negative: the restaurant. It is a cold rather dark factory setting with concrete floors, uncomfortable chairs at bleak institutional tables although they are real wood versus faux wood. However the noise volume requires one to shout at friends to make oneself heard. The constant overwhelming din is horrid. Lighting on the walls change, sometimes low, then suddenly bright. I couldnât wait to pay up and leave. I rate this restaurant a 4 out of 10.Hello,Thank you for coming to visit our restaurant. I'm sorry that your experience wasn't up to the standards we try to hold ourselves to.You are correct though that we are not fine cuisine as our menu is designed as a fresh take on classic pub food. If you are looking for a more fine cuisine dinner though we do have options such as the Flat Iron Steak, Mushroom Risotto and Kung Pao Ribs among others that may be more up to the fine dining experience than the Fish and Chips.A few questions that we would like to know in order to improve for the future:What beer did you have that was bitter? We do have a few beers such as the Mad Scientist IPA and Queens Best Bitter that are expected to have the classic bitter taste to them that make up their style, while we have others that are not intended to be. Our serving staff should be able to guide customers to a beer they will enjoy. How do you normally enjoy your fries? We do make our fries in house from scratch. Pressing the potatoes each day to make them. While they are enjoyed by most we are always open to feedback on how to improve. What time of day did you come at? Our lighting is meant to stay fairly consistent throughout the day with staff only darkening it as we go into dinner and late night. We would be interested to hear more about the lights changing randomly as you mentioned. If you have the chance to email us some more details about your visit we'd be happy to hear more about how we can improve to make any future visit a more pleasant one.We can be contacted at: [email protected] look forward to hearing more from you.Thank you,Jaeden

My husband and I chose this restaurant to celebrate our anniversary and we were not disappointed! All the staff, especially our server Sophie, were fantastic! We ordered a lobster appetizer and steak and lobster tail for dinner. It was delicious from the complimentary warm bread to the desert and cocktail nothing was a disappointment. All of it was cooked to perfection, itâs not always that you ask for filet mingnon medium well and it comes out tender and not tough but they have clearly perfected steak. And the lobster was sweet , not dry, just right. Turned out the be a great night all around, we will be back!!

Serving fresh seasonal cuisine crafted by our expert culinary team, The Palm Lounge is open to hotel guests and the public, for lunch, dinner, and late night dining as well as for drinks and live local music nightly.
Look, itâs a great atmosphere to sit, enjoy an expensive drink, and listen to some jazz piano. The couple of times Iâve had appetizers and theyâve been just fine.My continued issue is understaffing and/or slow service. I only drop in here occasionally but Every. Time. Surely I canât be the only one experiencing this and youâd think maybe theyâd have more than one visible person for the whole room (okay, maybe there are two? If so, thatâs poor service not staffing issues).Thank you for dining with us in the Palm Lounge! Weâre so fortunate to have return Guests such as yourselves, and look forward to seeing you again soon. We consistently aim to have the appropriate staffing levels to serve all of our Guests in a prompt, friendly manner, and do our best to evaluate predicted number of Guests. We appreciate your feedback and use it to continually improve.

Good food made simple - all the flavor and tender care with a little less fuss. We are a locally owned neighborhood food spot in the heart of St. Boniface serving up fresh quality comfort food in a cozy surrounding well suited for great conversation.
Some of the titles of the entrees, like my grilled cheese and chicken sandwich, perhaps make you expect the food to be extra special. was good, not great. Great service, good ambiance made up for it. Prices are reasonable. Would reccomend. Thanks for the recommendation! We do like to keep our food simple, just with some small twists of our own. Hope to see you back again!
