Opened 21st December 2012 after significant refurbishment The Bell in Stoke Mandeville now offers a spacious yet cosy environment with more than a nod to the traditions of the Great British pub. With over ten years experience in some of the best dining es
We had eaten here before a few years ago and found the food good and service very acceptable but the menu was a bit limited and didnât change very often so having exhausted all the options we stopped going. This visit was our first after a change of ownership or management (no sure which). Opening hours for food were quite limited as we visited on a Sunday and the kitchen closed at 1700 and there was nothing else on offer so as we wanted to try it we came back the following day. During the week days the kitchen opened at 1800 until 2100. Very limited menu and nothing outstanding on offer. We had sausage and mash with vegetables and scampi chips and peas. The scampi and chips were obviously cooked from frozen and the scampi was over cooked. The sausages were very nice but at nearly £13 for each meal it was overpriced and does not compare well with other local pubs / restaurants. Donât think we will visit again for a while.

Popped in while staying down the road on a quick business trip with 2 colleagues. The greeting was warm and friendly by the young floor team. We sat in the bar area as it's a little more relaxed and less "couples" The restaurant side looked busy and had a warm atmosphere. The food - Wow! 2 of us had the mixed hanging kebabs and 1 the chicken burger. Completely faultless and very tasty offering good value. Veltins lager on draught was an added bonus as you very rarely see it in the UK. I'll be returning on my next visit to the area.

A traditional public house serving well kept ales and good quality British food.

Traditional 16th century English pub and restaurant. Cask Marque approved with a great selection of wines, lagers and spirits. The kitchen has a locally sourced produce policy and serves classic dishes with subtle, contemporary twists.
I love this pub and eat here frequently. The menu is always varied with a choice of fresh and seasonal produce. Tonight we had fillet steak and chips and a salmon dish. Both were, as always when we eat here, cooked to perfection. The Swan is a charming old pub which oozes character and we like to sit by the fire in the winter. The staff are always very accommodating and cheerful and we canât wait to try the food on Vegan night next month. Even though we arenât vegan we are excited to see what the chefs will do with the menu on that evening. Thanks team Swan, keep up the excellent work

Pub was very busy when we got there at about 6.30 pm on a Saturday. We should have made a reservation. Staff were all friendly. We found a table in the bar and placed our orders. I ended up clearing the table of glasses despite the waitress twice walking past out table on the way back to the kitchen empty handed. I had ordered the Pan-Fried Hake with Mussel Chowder. It was very disappointing. I could not see a single mussel in the chowder, it was more like a tasteless white sauce. My partners Sea bass and scallops was equally bland. Neither meal was particularly hot, so I suspect they had been waiting in the kitchen for the overworked staff to bring them to us.We ordered the sticky toffee pudding for desert and it was piping hot and excellent. In fact this is the only reason this review has a been given a 2 rather than a 1. We have been here before and had an excellent meal. so quite disappointed with the poor taste today.Hi Markw7379, I really appreciate your honest feedback, and it will definitely be taken on board. I'm sorry for the experience you've had, and I hope you'll give us another try as this is not our usual standard. I will pass these comments onto the rest of the team. I hope your next meal with us will be better. Thank you for taking the time for your review.

The Firecrest in Wendover is a country pub & restaurant oozing rural charm and rustic character. Our picturesque surroundings provide the perfect backdrop for savouring the hearty, seasonal pub-food on our menu, and the carefully nurtured cask ales and fi
We arrived around 7, Sunday just gone. Staff were friendly and quickly showed us to somewhere to sit. We then waited an extended time for someone to take our order. After ordering drinks, food and a âwhile you waitâ option. Low and behold âwhile you waitâ set the level and when we had began waiting for it. Once this had come out, we were sat there for 30-40 minutes before we noticed the table in front of us were already raising their concerns where there dessert was. I realise Sunday is a busy day but when you are still serving at 7pm the service with less people - it should be better or easier to manage. It didnât seem like that at this point. Once their desserts had arrived I knew weâd be next, that was the hold up. Our food arrived 10 minutes after them. This is where you start wondering how long has this been ready, what is cold on this plate. In fact on my plate must was warm but the fried onion rings were stone cold. The wagyu burger I had was dry and not up to its menu description. My girlfriend had the veg option roast and it just looked like a pile of vomit with a burnt top. The roast potatoes were rock solid. Itâs not the standard I expect. We have got the five bells, bugle horn and fire crest all from the same chain in our area. All are showing lack of quality execution. I am sorry to say, a new menu doesnât mean anything when it comes quality it seems. I shall visit the Woolpack or Broad Leys if Iâm eating local to here again.£38 wasted on this visit.Falling short of meeting your expectations is not to the standards we strive to achieve, and we humbly ask for the opportunity to make this right. Thank you providing this information so we can improve upon our services. We hope to hear from you soon. The Firecrest

Beautiful and historic, The Russell Arms is owned by the village and managed by Moogies ltd. This superb pub is located in the heart of the Chilterns and offers the perfect spot for a stop off for a well earned pint, glass of lovely wine or a well made G&
The Russell Arms was, apparently, the staff of Chequers own accommodation and there are pictures of past prime ministers near the bar. It is spacious and has a lovely garden where we sat for lunch on a sunny afternoon. Staff were friendly and the service was excellent. I'm a sucker for sharing menus and this one was extremely tasty. All topped off with good wine and reasonable prices.

Stewart and Holly took over in September both of which have been inside the business under the previous owners. Now they have taken over the tenancy with a new menu and a local feel. The menu is stripped back to a small traditional offering with a selecti
We often pop in to the Chandos, often for just a drink and in the summer we sit in the lovely comfy beer garden. The menu is quite diverse and you can eat just a snack or full meal. Went this weekend and for the first time saw their pizza menu which I think is new. Young and enthusiastic couple running the place and a good crew with them always make you feel welcome. This is such a fantastic review! Thank you for taking the time to leave us your feedback we really appreciate it! And we look forward to seeing you again soon! Kind regards Holly Mackay-Gascoyne
