We just tried the Bitter End for the first time in our visits to Wells. It was recommended by a couple we had met the night before. If I could give half stars, this would have been 3 1/2 stars, not 4. We ate in the bar. Interesting place. Bartender was very attentive and friendly. Pre dinner drinks were excellent. I ordered the clam chowder and fried clams. Chowder was brought out by I believe one of the owners. He said "Best chowder in Maine!". Brave statement that didn't live up to his claim, was below average for the Wells area. Thick wall paper paste..... Fried clams were good, but a pretty small portion for the price. Wife had the fish and she said the same, decent but not great.

We had a really nice dinner here tonight. Casual and lively atmosphere with a good variety of menu options. Two of us ordered pizza which was the best pizza weâve here on the southern coast of Maine, great crust. One of us ordered Seared Sea Scallops which were great, and my husband ordered a ribeye steak. The steak arrived not cooked as ordered and the waitress and manager/owner (not sure which) corrected the situation to perfection, and all without a hint of attitude. Fantastic service ladies! It is this customer service that put you into superstar category. Thank you for a really great evening.

We arrived late and were staying in a hotel close by. Most of the other restaurants were booked so we went to the New England House because it was a close walk. Overall the service was poor, the waitresses seemed over worked and we had a hard time getting their attention. We were looking forward to eating lobster but it was over cooked. Overall we were not impressed with the service or the food and it was not cheap. Maybe it is better on other days but overall Iâd skip The New England House, one of the worst restaurants on our holiday.

Mike's Clam ShackWells, MEVisited here on Friday, 10/11 for dinner. Despite it being the start of a busy 3-day weekend, my husband and I were seated very quickly. We started with an order of onion rings as an appetizer. They were very good - needed a bit more seasoning at the table, but the coating was crispy and clung to the rings as you'd expect. For my entree I ordered the baby back ribs. They were cooked perfectly, the meat feel off the bone and had a satisfying smoky flavor. Unfortunately, the prime rib my husband wanted was no longer available so he went for his second choice of a chicken pot pie. The pie contained generous amounts of chicken in a flavorful gravy topped with a flaky crust. As far as sides, between us we had french fries, mashed potatoes and coleslaw. All the sides were good and the portions were generous. Our waitress was attentive throughout our time in the restaurant and was sure that drink refills were brought promptly and that dishes were cleared almost as soon as they were empty. Mike's is a go-to place for us when we visit Maine and they do never disappoint!

I am in my second season of camping in Wells and Feile was a place I hadn't tried yet. My boyfriend and I were looking for some life music on a Saturday night and someone local suggested this place. They did not disappoint! We originally intended to only get apps and drinks while we listened to the band. A delay in our plans didn't allow for the late lunch we planned so we ended up doing a full dinner here. The coconut shrimp app was great! I got the bacon-wrapped scallops and my boyfriend got the bacon-wrapped chicken. Those 2 main dishes were amazing! The sides that it came with was a veggie medley and mashed potatoes. The veggies were not as expected as they come out looking like a scoop of mashed vegetables. Both side dishes were pretty bland and neither of us ended up eating them. The drinks were good - Moscow mules, and tequila drinks - but can get pretty pricey. The band made the night though! I made a reservation for the pub area and am glad we did. The On Tap Band was great; they played a ton of awesome music, oldies, classic rock, country, newer stuff. People were up dancing all night, ourselves included. The lead singer is a woman who was out on the floor getting right in with people; she made it even better.I would highly suggest trying this place if you haven't. They had a decent sized menu so we would go back to try something else. The band was a lucky find and if they return there I would make it a point to go again.

Billy's Chowder House is a casual seafood restaurant, located in the southern coastal town of Wells, Maine, with a reputation for great chowder and lobster rolls. Billy's has a unique one of a kind location, with water on both sides of the road.
We had one excellent lunch at Billyâs this October.Felicia B took care of us and just like a previous visit she was outstanding! We had onion rings, steamers, two lobster specials (awesome deal!) and two half fried scallops/fried clams.Everything was delicious! The prices are more than fair AND they do a rewards/frequent diner program!

Located in picturesque Wells Harbor in Wells, Maine, Hobbs Harborside offers something for everyone. From classic fried clams to a complete Maine lobster dinner, you and your guests will find a classic New England dish you love. Pull up a stool at our bar
I donât know how this restaurant has gotten such great reviews as the meal o had here was one of the worst in my life. I ordered the lazy mans lobster, it was tasteless and the consistency of rubber bands. The Brussel sprouts were undercooked and other root vegetables over cooked. When I was served the French fries included fell all over the table. The waitress apologized but didnât clean the mess she made. My spouse ordered the Shore Dinner, a lobster in the shell, corn on the cob, French fries and steamers. The steamers were good, the corn mushy ( but it is past prime corn season) and lobster just OK. The best thing about the meal was the wine, which we didnât finish but were allowed to take with us.

Found this pub on the way back from dinner and decided to stop in for a beer. It was fairly full but there were a couple of seats at the bar. Some good local characters (more likely tourists) were around the bar so it made for a great atmosphere. Good variety of beers and good service.
