Stopped for a short stop on the way back to London but tempted by lunch which we much enjoyed. A lovely relaxing atmosphere and really friendly staff. Good wholesome food and really nice selection of desserts. Raised terrace at the rear overlooking farmland an ideal spot to have a drink and relax.

Traditional English pub serving award winning ales, and specially selected wines alongside the standard pub offerings. We serve fabulous Italian style handmade pizzas daily until 9pm (Vegan & gluten free available) alongside our specials. There is a large
Unfortunately, a takeaway order for 22 pizzas came in just before we ordered our food, and we were therefore warned that there would be a bit of a wait. It would have been nice to have been given the heads up before the pizza order was sent through to the kitchen, as we were already in the pub before the order came in and our intention to order food must have been quite obvious. We had asked various questions about the items on the menu and had gone up to look at the specials board that was over the bar several times. On being warned about the wait, my partner and myself decided to order a starter as well as a main, as we thought it would give us something to be going on with while we waited for the rest of the food. We felt sure that our starters would at least be got out in a timely fashion, if not the rest. Wrong! The takeaway order was clearly prioritised over the customers already in the pub and we were waiting for a very long time before we got anything to eat at all. Well over an hour I think! We were ravenous! However, the food when we did eventually get it, was very good. Personally, I think that if a pub wants to offer takeaways then thatâs fine, but It shouldnât be at the detriment of the customers who have troubled themselves to eat in the establishment itself. If you havenât got the staff to cope with both, then you shouldnât try! It wouldnât have been so bad if we had been offered a free drink as an apology, or something knocked off the bill, but neither were offered. Other than the slow service, we found the pub to have a pleasant, relaxed and welcoming atmosphere. There were books and games on a shelf for customers to use. We also found the staff to be very nice. Unfortunately though, I would probably think twice about visiting again, especially on a Saturday night. You never know if a takeaway order will come in at the wrong moment!Thank you for your review and it was very unfortunate timing that particular Saturday. We don't normally do that level of takeaways, more usual that it is only 3 or 4 of an evening and they are given wait times prioritising diners in the pub. This particular group had eaten with us on a number of occasions over the past couple of months and were the crew of a nearby festival site - Buddhafield. It was the last day of them taking down the stages and marquees etc and they had no form of cooking food left on the site. They had asked a few weeks ago if we could do such a big order - we advised them to give us a pre order mid afternoon to minimise disruption to our regular service, when they did not I assumed they had changed their mind about ordering. They were very apologetic when they did call and said they had lost track of time. When they ordered the kitchen didn't have any checks on and yours didn't come through until a good 10-15 mins after the takeaway. In that situation the sensible decision was to get the takeaway order done as quickly as possible. I checked with the bar manager that she had informed you of the wait when she brought the ticket in, I also asked her if you were ok with it and she said yes you were fine. Had you given any indication of being unhappy with the situation at the time then of course you would have been compensated, also had you booked in advance, as we try to encourage all our diners to do then we would have known to expect you and we would have structured the evening accordingly.I am sorry that you felt you evening wasn't as good as it could have been. If you do chose to visit again then your experience will be much swifter - that said very often on a weekend we go from having an empty pub with no bookings to a completely full pub with 40 pizzas ordered in 45 mins as no matter how hard we try to encourage them people don't like to book and all turn up wanting to eat at 7pm! We do prioritise prebooked tables ahead of both takeaways and walkins.

Wanting an impromptu bite on a Saturday night is not always a great idea or welcomed by restaurateurs but Rule 7 cane up trumps in every way! Not only could they take us but they apologised for keeping us waiting and offered us a drink on the house. The food was great and very tasty. Top marks for good old fashioned hospitality.

My husband and brother in law stopped here for something to eat. They both ordered the mixed grill and they both wish that they hadnât. The egg wasnât cooked fully, it was slime and to top that off there was egg shell in it too, the lamb had blood coming out of it, the steak well the only way to explain it is it tasted like it smoked 50 a day & they requested medium to well done and again it was rare. The pepper sauce which is an extra tasted and looked like dirty dish water. The gammon was tasteless and the chicken was dry. They both had a soft drink which tasted like cleaning fluid. When they complained the staff member was quite rude. My husband actually said to her that if the chef can not get an egg right how on earth will he get meat right.Looking at other reviews and if it was my place either the mixed grill should be taken off the menu or the chef and any team they may have need retraining. Itâs pretty obvious to say that our family will not be stopping there again.Dear 332louiseg,thank you for your review, we are sorry that on this occasion you didnt enjoy your visit. We do hope that you give us another try in the future. Many thanksThe Skylark team

Immersed in beautiful scenery of rolling green hills, The Beambridge Inn is located near Wellington, Somerset, just a few miles away from junctions 26 and 27 of the M5. Beautifully refurbished, this charming inn provides a charming blend of a characterist
Went for a carvery here on a Wednesday. Three choices of meat and a Vegetarian option. Help yourself to vegetables/potatoes etc. Potatoes tasted quite "earthy" and a bit undercooked - could have been nice a crispy, instead of hard to cut!!! Parsnips needed cooking more too. Leeks in cheese sauce - nice but needed a stronger tasting cheddar - quite mild. Prices in the week are cheaper than weekends. We would try there again sometime.

We came to the blue ball on recommendation from a friend who lives nearby to meet friends from Barnstaple and we travelled from North Somerset so this was an ideal place to meet in the middle. The service was excellent staff were very attentive but not obtrusive, the food was delicious and the vegetables were to die for. There is a car park opposite.

We were arrived without booking a couple of evenings ago. Unfortunately my pint must have been the last in the barrel and was 'vinegary'. It was quickly replaced without quibble. We were quickly seated and our food order was taken promptly. Both of our meals were excellent and huge. We will return.Hi there! Thank you for your great review. Sorry about that pint, but glad we were able to replace it for you. We'll look forward to seeing you again soon.

Loads of parking. Welcomed at the bar. Polite staff showed us to our table, hidden away as previously asked for on booking. Lamb rump was excellent and would definitely have again on my next visit. You must check this pub out if you can find someone to drive you, so you can take advantage of the real ales!
