A bit of a disappointment as we came specifically for karaoke night on Wednesday. We Patronized the bar, ate some OK pub food and waited patiently for karaoke to begin. Noteworthy is great bar service! Food is typical pub grub with a focus on individual portable beer kegs at your service; So if your into beer this is your place. Unfortunately, if you are into a great karaoke experience this is not your place. The rotation is that only new arrivals get to sing so you sit and wait all night like a fool once you get your one chance. We have participated in karaoke all over the world from NYC to Asbury Park, Paris and Rome. This was by far the poorest experience.

Same location for 30 years--recently re-opened after a kitchen fire.
Located across from a small town park in this charming Bergen County town, the Iron Horse is near the railroad station, thus it's name. The restaurant looks old, from its narrow two step walk up entrance, bead board walls, worn carpet and tin ceiling and aged tables and chairs. At some point, years ago, it looks as if they expanded into an adjacent store. This left several rooms at different levels, so you are walking up and down several small stairs. This may prove difficult for some and impossible for a wheel chair. On this early Friday evening, the place was mostly empty and we were seated immediately. The menu featured burgers stuffed with various cheeses, their specialty, we were told. Also were salads, sandwiches and some specials. Friday is Prime Rib and this is what I ordered, while my partner had the Chicken Salad Cheese melt served on English muffin, an unusual combination to say the least. Our meal started with Homemade Cole slaw and pickles, another house tradition. It proves fresh, tangy and homemade. My meal includes a Caesar Salad, baked potato with a generous amount of Sour Cream on the side and an ample cut of prime rib ( I ordered the smaller of the two sizes offered.) The rib was cooked as I requested and was good and the Chicken salad was large chicken chunks and obviously house made. The thick layer of melted cheddar, started off tasting good, but later became overwhelming and was removed. The Fries that accompanied the sanwich were also good. We were offered drinks from the bar, and there were a few interesting specials but we did not sample. The restaurant is an establishment that has grown with the town over the years and it can use a face lift. But the food is honest, homemade and good and a local favorite.Parking is on the street and usually available close by.

I recently had dinner at PJ Whelihan's with the family. We were promptly seated and our drink orders taken along with some appetizers. Our entrees were taken next. All the food tasted so good when it was served. I ordered a cheeseburger and it was cooked perfectly. This is a great place to eat. The food and service is awesome.

Our philosophy is simple; to provide great food, exceptional value and friendly service to each and every customer we serve.
I probably havenât been to this restaurant in 20 years and my heart sunk when I was given the venue for a family celebration. I still felt that way when we walked in to the uninspiring front reception area and saw the dark brown, heavy furniture and flat screen TVs on either end of the room in which we were to be seated. I had no real hope of a great dinner or a great time. I must say that I was pleasantly surprised. Our server, Linda, valiantly took care of our table for ten single-handedly and with humour. The orders ranged from nachos to steak, with quite a few plates of pork ribs. The salad bar was included but I should either have forgone that or only ordered a half rack of ribs because even though I didnât eat bread or potato, I was absolutely stuffed and couldnât even manage a cup of coffee afterwards. Others seemed to enjoy the cheesecake and brownie sundae. A bottle of Pinot noir, good value at half price on Tuesdays, was drinkable, but a bit thin for my taste. What can I say to sum up? The good is good quality, tasty and more than plentiful and all the staff is charming and friendly. There is plenty of parking. Unfortunately, only parts of the restaurant are wheelchair accessible, meaning that a customer in a wheelchair cannot personally visit the salad bar. This place would have received an Excellent rating from me if it was refitted with fresher, more attractive decor and didnât remind me of the sticky tabled pubs I hung out in back in the 80âs.

Keeping it real Jersey style- kudos to the staff- welcome environment hearty food- well seasoned and served piping hot! Rick kept the ambiance as rich as the well balanced Neshaminy Creek Punkless Dunkle- Though professional, he kept a smile on the faces of all the patrons- greeting each one warmly and welcomed them back with his contagious smile, with and humor.Ambiance aside, the French onion soup is a must have- and if you enjoy baked mac n cheese- or have little ones- make sure you do not miss the crispy, cheesy baked mac n cheese bites. (not to mention the cheesy tomato goodness they make from scratch for dipping- scrumptious) Your mouth will thank you!Jersey- being my first home- never disappoints with food, brews, festivals, shore and hospitality.Get there today- zero regrets Thank you "Ricky T" for the laughs and keeping it real!
