What a lovely little find, we went for Sunday lunch which was a carvery. We had a starter each, the dishes were nicely presented, the carvery meats were beautifully cooked and included on the specials board was lamb pie, gorgeous! The team were very welcoming, there was a lovely atmosphere and we will definitely be visiting again soon.

It’s all just average, beer could be so much better, so many fantastic brewerys within 40 miles and all they have is Marstons products. Some of the bar staff are great and knowable, others are rude and don’t care. Food is ok but could be so much better.

This has been one of our favourite places for years, we have stayed here many times and always eat here when visiting so we were really looking forward to our dinner in the bar.The menu looked smaller than normal but that was ok. I had the fish and chips and my partner the steak, both these we have had before however the quality this time was not there. The mushy peas looked like they had come from a can, the fish was tasteless and greasy and the steak was mainly fat and gristle. We did tell the bar man when he asked if all was ok and he just said oh! And walked away to the kitchen and we got no further response or recognition of the complaint. We paid in full but won’t be returning for food unless the quality goes back to its previous standards.Hello IRFTNYT, Thank you for your review, sorry to hear about your recent experience, I would love to discuss this in more detail. if you would be so kind as to give me a call on 01654 767215 or email [email protected]. I look forward in hearing from you. Kind RegardsNicola

I had an evening meal in the White Hall recently, the first time for two years or so. I had stopped going because of bad experiences with some of the clientele. However, I met some friends in the pub for a drink before going on for an Indian, which we do around once a month. This time because the previous Indian had been shockingly bad, and none of us had eaten in the White Hall for a while, we decided to give it a try. I have to say I won’t be back until I hear that the food has improved considerably. Pub food comes pre-packed so all the alleged chef has to do is follow the instructions for microwave, oven, bain marie, or pan. It takes real determination to get it wrong! I had the beef and cheese pie, with mash and peas. The peas were OK (!) but the mash had been hardened in places by the microwave and similarly the pastry on the pie had been casehardened. I would imagine the pie would have been good if properly warmed up – the flavour was there. Disgraceful for the price! No wonder there were only about three other people in there. The White Hall used to be packed at this time of the year when there are so many visitors to the area. I know that the people now running this pub do a great job with a pub in Machynlleth, so hopefully they’ll eventually transfer that to the White Hall. Until them, I’m out of it. For food, anyway.

Whitehall

Reviewed By JONOStafford

Just visited the Whitehall for food and drink.Cup of tea served with off lumpy milk , flat pint of wainwright s beer, nice lasagne but very small, and the Yorkshire stack was hardly a stack not homemade Yorkshires as per menu just 2 cheap frozen ones, Brown water claiming to be gravy and very hard peas. When you spend almost £50 on food a drink for 4 people as a treat you expect good food with some effort from the staff. Could be a really good pub but I won't be spending my money in there again.

We had tried unsuccessfully to find some hand pumped real ale before our evening meal in Tywyn on our return we passed the Tredegar Arms and remembering a review that said don’t be put off by the exterior we went in! Inside it was buzzing, lots of happy drinkers. My husband spotted the Purple Moose on the pump and was very happy. This would be our local in Tywyn!

Peniarth Arms at Bryncrug

Certainly improved with a refurb and new management. Indoor and outdoor seating, outside has a tropical theme combined with outside bar and SkySport. Set up largely as a gastropub with gastropub menu including a number of daily specials. Prices very modest, beers and wines reasonable. Food quality good. Was busy in August with some delays. Booking advised. Seems reasonable option for families staying in the area. Dog friendly. I guess lost some of the Welsh feel but hey ho this type of pub appears very popular especially if you want to watch SkySport.

Although thisnpub always seems to be busy, it lacks in space, quality, service and cleanliness.Overpriced food and drinks, unclean tables, floors and toilets, and service is not the best even with basic things! When this was built they should of made it twice the size, and I'm afraid they are losing business right left and centre, because people just walk in and walk straight out again. If you want a drink and have no care for comfort or anything else, then this is your place. If you want good food, nice furnishings and value for money, this is not your place.Dont recommend and wont be visiting again I'm afraid.

The place itself is reasonably big but not too big so you dont feel to enclosed it's really nicely decorated also. There is a basic but good menu to choose from with plenty of burgers and pizzas to look at .Food was great and the service was fantastic the staff always happy to help .The food is reasonable when it comes to Price so i would say it's well worth a visit if your passing .Theh have a small area outside at the back but it is small but dont let this put you off...Keep up the good work
