The bar /Restaurant occupies a prime location on the main Street through the lovely village of Saint Genis des Fontaines. The Patron is very warm and welcoming. To the rear of the bar there is a very pleasant dining room which benefits from air conditioning the dining area leads onto a pleasant terraced garden area. There is a varied bistro style menu offering Catalan and European cuisine using fresh local seasonal produce. We had a freshly prepared Catalan salad of Anchovy the presentation was excellent and the flavours were superb. We were recommended by the Patron to try the dish of the day which he explained was "Toro" Bull he assured us that it would be a superb steak we were not disappointed it was lean full of flavourb and tender cooked exactly as we requested absolutely fabulous the cost of the "plat du jour" was 8.50⬠which included a choice of accomplements. Good food great service excellent value.

After too many disappointing 'budget' meals in the usual local restaurants, we were almost set to drive to McD's for a reliable, cheap meal.However we studied TripAdvisor and settled on this place for a simple pizza.Like others have said, they are a real meal in themselves, and seem so much more than 'just a pizza'. Both the chicken and pineapple, and the texan were veery enjoyable and good value.Fully recommended and nice to find good value simple food around the port area.

Super restaurant/bar à tapas récemment ouvert. Décoration moderne et service souriant. Une carte de tapas appétissante et un plat du jour plus dessert à mioi s de 13⬠! Superbe adresse !

Relaxed service , not rushed the staff are friendly and helpful. We were in town for one week and I ate here three times.Good value for high quality food. The mussels "Mulles Marienere" were amazing.

Stayed in a camp site nearby and used this restaurant on three occasions while we were here. The staff are friendly, attentive and helpful. Lot of salads and burgers on the menu and after three visits must admit the menu wasn't extensive enough for me personally. That said everything we had to eat was cooked well and although like most of the restaurants we visited a little expensive for what was on offer we did really enjoy it here. Four stars is for the service.

Four of us went for a relaxed meal in the restaurants garden, the location being excellent given that it was shaded. We had a mix of starters - two moules gratinee which were good, one beignets de crevettes which was rated OK and a lightly cooked goats cheese with salad which was enjoyed.Moving to mains, the dorado one of us had was thoroughly enjoyed but unfortunately the 2 Angus and 1 pave steak, less so. Though the taste of each was not bad, all 3 were quite tough which detracted from the overall experience.Drinks were a mix of house wine by the glass and/or beer, there being no issue with these.The food is of course a key element of dining out but ambiance, the sound of people enjoying themselves and the waiting staff are also important and the Cafe des Artistes definitely scores on these.So overall, not the greatest meal on the night but sure to try again.
