O'Gradys 12 Bar is situated in the mountains, between Silves and Alcantarilha Gare, a hidden place were you are very welcome. The Tasmanan Seafood Chowder is a fantastic experience, the quality of the food is good and the prices are very reasonable. On Sunday's there is live-music and often also bbq. In wintertime, it is cozy inside at the open fire.

Café da Praça is a joyful esplanade at the west corner of Silves marketplace. Jolly music, draught beer, a fine selection of wines, natural juices and a rich selection of portuguese tapas and light meals such as salads, toasties, hamburgers and dishes.
What a beautiful find! Lovely tapas, and such a change to the normal, every day menu in the area.Great staff and so clean and fresh looking. Wishing them all the best, they certainly deserve it !!!Hi Denise,Thanks for your kind words and for rating us on Tripadvisor. Weâre very glad to know that you enjoyed the place and tapas. Hope to see you again!
Just before stepping up to the gate of Silves Castle, after parking our rental car in one of the narrow streets, we encountered "Estabelecimentos D. Sancho", at the Castle Square. It was just what the doctor ordered for coffee and cake, before starting our visit to Silves Castle. This establishment is a curious combination of handicraft shop and café. It is easily dismissed as a handicraft shop, but the outdoor seating area lets the cat out of the bag: this is also a café. "Estabelecimentos D. Sancho" offers a good sit down at the Castle Square, good coffee and terrific cake. Service of the staff is Portuguese style, modest and friendly. To be recommended.

Between the line is a great friendly culturally integrated bar restaurant with good English and Portuguese food and clients. Having lived in the Algarve for more than seven years now, it's quite refreshing to find a culturally integrated restaurant just a
I visited this lovely little place on a few occasions. Twice we had English breakfasts and once for frango piri piri. Always we were greeted with smiles and wonderful service, including rewards for my son's emerging Portuguese language skills! The food is fresh and fab, we will return.

Great little place on the river front of Silves. Offers a little something different with a quirky relaxed ambience. Pleasant and friendly staff. Lovely toasties with home made bread. Reasonably priced. Be sure to drop in for lunch or drinks.

This cafe is next to the castle in Silves, so it's popular with tourists after they have visited the castle. We were hot and tired, so stopping for freshly squeezed orange juice seemed like a good idea. The OJ was delightful! At â¬6.80 for two glasses, the price was not cheap (especially when you see how many oranges you can buy for â¬5), so you are definitely paying a premium as the cafe is for tourists. Still the OJ was very nice.Dear Sir, As you surely have noticed, our Bistro is door to door with one of the most important Medieval Monuments in the Southern Iberian Peninsula. Yes, itâs a touristic place, but for everyone; tourists are welcome, as anybody else. Our prices match our quality. We use bio oranges, that are freshly squeezed. The OJ are 350ml of 100% natural juice, no water, no sugar! Now, add the labor cost (my squeezing), electricity, my employee wage, rent, cleaning (water, products) and yes, our margin. This is a family business, not Starbucks or Nandoâs⦠If you had been taken by surprise, I could even understand your evaluation, but you asked me the price first, remember? And all the tables have menus with all prices on! So, your 3 stars evaluation itâs simply not fair, because you knew the prices before order, and like you said: the orange juice is delightful!Nevertheless, you are more than welcome to come back and try our amazing meals. You will find it a bargain, compared to the quality and love we present it each dish. Cheers :)

There's a thriving ex-pat community on The Algarve and to celebrate our national poet's birthday, a Burn's Supper was held there. Not sure about the soup or the pudding, but the traditional haggis, neeps and tatties were fine. For a largish function the service was fine and the staff friendly. All went well until the dancing started....or rather due to a 'boggle' in the sound system....it didn't . All in all a very pleasant way to spend a Saturday night.
