Impromptu stop for a quick dinner the other night. Saw they had "hand-pattied" burgers and my husband and I selected the "Sticky Burger" that was topped with your choice of cheese and peanut butter sauce. We were pleasantly surprised! The burger arrived piping hot and was ultra thick and obviously hand-pattied. The the thin, preformed frozen variety, but truly prepared fresh. Top notch burger. Only suggestion is a little more of the peanut butter sauce. The flavor didn't quite cover the patty. My hubby had fries and I chose the sweet potato tots which were crispy and delicious - served piping hot. Price was average and service was good.
Probably one of the only bars that still offers Tombstone Pizza. How can you go wrong with their selection: Sausage, Pepperoni, Sausage and Pepperoni, Deluxe, 4 Meat. They also have Pizza Fries made in Athens Wisconsin which are amazing: A crust with garlicky cheese and a marinara sauce to dip it in.
We have been to Pape's several time - it is 7 miles outside of Sauk City, WI. The food is very good - especially the Friday Night Fish fry - all menu items are very good. Bring cash as they do not accept credit cards..the place is small, however, the food and service are very good.

Located in downtown Prairie du Sac Que's Bar & River Deck is the only tavern in Sauk Prairie with a deck overlooking the Wisconsin River. Owned by the Herbeck family since 1977 and originally Sy's Place the business was taken over by Scott Herbeck in 1997
Mid week at noon the restaurant was very slow. We sat on the outdoor deck with a view of the river. The deck is pretty small and when another group of 4 sat at a nearby table, we realized one disadvantage is that smoking was allowed on the deck. The owner - who was also the bartender and server - was very friendly and proud of his establishment. Mojitos and sandwiches were great. Payment is cash only - but bar has an ATM.

I live in Sauk city and I love going here for food. You can even get late night eats here. I like the hand breaded wings. We've brought friends and family and never had anybody that didn't enjoy their meal.
Bowling Alley/Bar/Pizzeria
Have been here a handful of times. Lunch with the girls to Fish dinner with the man and carry outs as well, Lunch is a good meal, the carry out for myself was absolutely the best - was the sausage wrap with onions & peppers. My friends pizza not so good the crust was burnt and not eatable. Fish dinner the deep fried good but the baked a bit chewy. Will be back for the lunch that's for sure! Good service too!

unincorporated village of Roxbury
It was a beautiful Sunday morning, so we hopped in the convertible and headed up the road to Roxbury Tavern. It had been some time since we visited for Sunday breakfast and we were looking forward to the experience. Some remodeling has taken place since our last visit. There is a fairly nice small dining room next to the old bar area and the back porch eating area has had the kitchen expanded into it. The restrooms are down a short hallway through the front of the kitchen. We chose the main bar seating area so we could look out of the window. Lots of bicycles came through and stopped at the bar. Some ordered food, but many just asked to get their water bottle refilled or to use the bathroom. The bartender could not have been nicer to the bikers. She had a pitcher of ice water sitting on the bar waiting for them and no statements like "restrooms for patrons only".The menu was small, but a nice variety. My husband ordered salmon benedict and I ordered the multi grain blueberry pancakes. They both came with "fresh fruit" and that turned out to be 2 small kind of dry slices of pineapple, an orange wedge that had been cut for a while and a small slice of melon. The salmon dish was a success, but my pancakes were overdone on the bottom and quite dry. We asked about the owner/chef and she told us he had been ill and was only back to limited cooking. In the past the food here has been phenomenal for such a small place and it clearly suffered with the semi-retirement of the owner/chef.I would go again to see if they could straighten out the consistency of the food quality. It's a charming little slice of rural Wisconsin that I wouldn't want to lose.

We stopped there for lunch. Had the tenderloin sandwich which was tender and perfectly done. Also very good cheese curds and cauliflower cheese soup.

Went on a Monday to meet friends and we were amazed at the crowd! The place is popular and packed for good reason. The setting, with view of the Wisconsin River, is great. The staff were friendly (albeit a little TOO attentive). The beer selection is fabulous and the quality is excellent. The food was also reasonable (although not great). We'll definitely be back!

You can't go wrong here! Everything is terrific. Can't recommend it enough. The greater Madison area is lucky to have this fantastic German restaurant.
