This huge complex was built as a monument to commemorate the Spanish victory over the French in the battle of Saint Quentin.

We took a day-trip to El Escorial in February and afterwards,we wanted to have a hearty lunch before taking the bus back to Madrid. We heard about the restaurant from Time Out, and it didn't disappoint! A centuries-old building, the location was on the main street where other restaurants were located. While we were there, a local multi-generational family came to dine. This was a good sign!It was very off-season, and after 2pm when we arrived. It is located in the bottom floor of a hotel. The room was clean, and the prices very reasonable. They have a menu of the day, but we chose a la carte. When I asked the owner what fish was good, she steered me to a choice that was very tasty. We were given complementary soup (which was perfect on a rainy day) and at the end, complementary dessert.Service was professional and prompt. And at the end of the meal, the owner provided us with a bookmark, with the restaurant information /photos on one side and a calendar on the other. Very smart! This is truly a family-run restaurant and it shows that they took pride in their establishment.

Three of us went for lunch. They don't have a menu de dia so bit more expensive for lunch than usual. Stated with olives and nibbles; then Russian salad, meat balls and pistol and egg shared between us; followed by goats cheese and sweet tomato marmalade and to finish 'the best rice pudding in the world' which it probably was. Very efficient professional service in interesting location but quite expensive. Best to make it the main meal of the day and take your time and enjoy it. Worth it if not in a hurry.

Vesta Taberna is a restaurant where you will find signature cuisine, very pampered and tasty with the best selection of local products, traditional and avant-garde recipes. Our Menu usually changes almost daily. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming.
Great Spanish typical food on a great location. Highly recommended after visiting San Lorenzo de El Escorial. The staff is super friendly and the food generous, mixing "neo-bistrot" and "castizo" styles. Try local artisanal beers and bio wines as well, you won't be disappointed!
