We have completely renovated the pub inside and out for a fresh, clean, contemporary new look! Our All Day Brunch Menu is a big hit with our patrons as is our Tapas! Try our new dinner menu with table service. Food, drink, great times to be had at The Joh
only went for sunday lunch because we had a 25% off voucher .we were pleasantly surprised . the atmosphere was okay for a pub. Service from agreat young lady was excellent .food was very agreeable at a good price . we would go back again much to our surprise . as locals we had avoided the place because of a previous reputation. we were happy with our visit .The John Roy Team are really pleased that you visited us and noticed the difference. We are very different to the history that the pub had. We pride ourselves on our service, great food and a great atmosphere. We look forward to you visiting us again for food, drink, great times.

A stunning 1920's styled, restoration and reincarnation of one of Canterbury's few surviving Heritage Buildings. An establishment of majestic opulence, sensational European tappas and shared plate cuisine, crystal, cocktails, champagne and craft beers.
We have been to the Ivory Bar several times as a couple and twice as a small group. All visits have met or exceeded our expectations.Firstly the building has been restored to absolutely perfection, the detail is fantastic. The bathroom alone is worth a visit but odd lighting in there makes you look very red.The place has been very cosy and warm each time, twice we have encountered live music, our favourite being Lee Martin. We didnât dress up just smart casual and that seems fine but it sure is a great place to go if you wanted to dress up. Hopefully they donât let it get too casual though, especially in summer.Drink selection is great and they use top quality product. Connor went over and above to make a cocktail that is hard to get at most bars and it is now a favourite for me when I go, heâs a very friendly and knowledgeable bar manager.Twice we have had the platter to share â¦.huge and value for money, I doubt I could make it myself for the price. They have 3 types of platters and we got a mix of each of them which was helpful. Everyone was blown away by the presentation, flavours and cost. They have the most amazing fish on there I have tasted; we all went ohhhhhhhhh when we tried it.We will be sure to make a night to have a try of the rest of the menu. The bar staff are very welcoming, relaxed to chat with, super efficient and helpful to accommodate anything. Lots of seating options from at the bar, high tables, intimate comfy seating and well set up to take groups. Our most recent visit last night was the most coldest of nights and the place was warm and cosy, we were just in for a quick birthday drink. To our delight they have introduced a new happy hour every night of the week from 4pm-6pm. Amazing prices, especially for the setting and quality they deliver.Bottle Heineken and Corona for $6!, tap beer mostly at least $6 off, Spy valley sav $8, Prosecco $8, cocktail of the month that looked amazing $12, I had a nice Cabernet Malbec for $11 and my fave cocktail $20, not a fan of the paper/card straw but thatâs the way of the world, it goes soggy after a few sips. There was a selection of approx 4 or 5 bar snacks for very fair prices. We were cooking that night so just had the olives that were crispy coated on a feta puree that tasted a little like wasabi approx 6 of them for $4. Canât wait to try the Dutch croquettes which sound great and only $8. Have seen a variety of people there that all look very comfortable and relaxed regardless of dressed up or tidy casual and we have been there when there was a huge birthday crowd also but that made no difference to the service or ambience.Rangiora has needed a place like this for some time and I hope people donât judge it and write it off as expensive or stuffy as itâs far from that. Well done to the staff and owners that seem to be passionate to get things right for their customers.

5 Stags restaurant and bar is set in a modern building with a rustic country decor. Little hard to find but worth it. Excellent service, friendly staff, very generous meals and not too expensive. Great for families. We have now visited 3 times when in the area as it is not close to home.

Pizzas are ok. Staff are OK .... depending on what day you get them. The music / soundtrack is one of the worst known to man... not sure how that music fits with the cosmic / space vibe the decor gives off?Worth a visit ....? Have been about 8 times ... only because my kid loves the ice cream, otherwise Iâd not have rushed back.

Visiting the area and looked for somewhere local for dinner. Booked online very easily and found a great place to eat. Excellent service with staff showing the sense of urgency required in a great restaurant. The meals were tasty and large. The salad size was an overkill but didn't deflect from the quality. Speed of service was perfect. The Blue Cod was fresh, juicy and tasty. Just delicious. Loved the decor. Great place good and staff. Near to perfect. Thanks

Our friends are regulars and took us here on the last night of our holiday. The menu has a good variety of food from burgers, to pizza, to salads. The style is like an American Diner and the decor is quite quirky. Glad you had a great last night of your holiday. Hope to see you again when you visit another time.

Very busy with a fun atmosphere and great service. We enjoyed our food, in fact just thinking about my lamb shank on mash with the richest gravy, makes my mouth water. Pretty rowdy with children everywhere so truely a family restaurant - just depends what you like. Obviously plenty of people like it!Hi there,Thanks so much for taking the time to write a review - we're so pleased you enjoyed your time with us!We look forward to seeing you again soon.
