Reviews on Bar food in Puerto Escondido, Oaxaca, Mexico. Looking for a tropical Mexican fishing village with relaxing beaches, oceanfront seafood bars and restaurants, unspoiled reefs for diving and snorkeling, and waves suitable for championship surfing? Puerto Escondido has all that plus the Laguna de Manialtepec mangrove lagoon for tours combining kayaking, boating, bird-watching, and swimming in phosphorescent waters. Regularly scheduled airline service links Mexico City and Oaxaca to Puerto Escondido Airport (PXM)Rent an umbrella at the town beach, Playa Principal, which parallels the Avenida Perez Gasga hotel and restaurant row. Stop in one of the hotels near the beach for a drink or take the family horseback riding. A small freshwater lagoon at the mouth of the river, Rio Rigadillo, marks the border with Playa Marinero, which has waves suitable for beginning surfers. The whole family will enjoy the mile-long shoreline walkway known as Andador Escénico, which leads across the rocks to El Faro lighthouse and the Sueño Posible scenic overlook. Beyond the lighthouse, Playa Principal transitions into Playa Manzanillo, a swimmable beach with clear waters extending towards Puerto Angelito. Rent a boogie board or equipment to snorkel the coral and rocks. If Playa Manzanillo gets too crowded on a holiday weekend, catch one of the water taxis linking Puerto Escondido’s seven beaches. Hire a skiff to take the family sightseeing or dolphin and sea turtle viewing. Fish for trophy sailfish or catch a dinner of yellowfin tuna, mahi mahi (dorado), grouper, roosterfish, mackerel, or snapper. Watch the experts surf the 6-15 foot swells and hollow tubes of Playa Zicatela. International competitions in August and November draw the pros to demonstrate their prowess on the Mexican Pipeline. Snorkel or surf the clear shallow waters beneath the high cliffs surrounding Playa Carrizalillo. High red cliffs, housing, and hotels surround riptide-plagued Playa Bacocho, which is good for long romantic beach walks and sunsets. For more adventure, dive Pressure Point’s tectonic plate fault lines or Punta Colarada’s volcanic overhangs, ledges, and lava rock swimthroughs. If you are lucky you will see lobsters, stingrays, moray and snowflake eels, barracudas, yellow tangs, parrotfish, and puffers.

In the heart of Puerto Escondido and with over 15 years of experience, Las Margaritas is one of the best kept secrets of Puerto Escondido, exceptional cuisine, Mixed Oaxacan Sabores y Sabores del Mar, Las Margaritas offers one of the best experiences dini
I would highly recommend visiting Las Margaritas to anyone staying in Puerto Escondido. Located in the middle of the down-town area, Las Margaritas is a world away from the ultra-touristic commercialised strip of La Zicatela and serves real Oaxacan food at incredible prices. The restaurant is cool and spacious, the staff are attentive and friendly, and the food is packed with flavour and served generously. For those looking to escape some of the superficiality that can be found along the main hotel area, this is your spot.

My brother and I visited Puerto Escondido to meet up for a surf trip. We are both from Australia but had both been living overseas. The location is great, right across the road from the La Punta break. I took a private room out the back, which was fantastic. The staff were very helpful and the food was great. I def recommend this place to anyone looking for a nice and chilled place to stay.

All I can say is wow! First, I loved that you could be on beach chairs on the beach, in the couch area or at a regular table.Salvatore greeted us joyfully as we chose our table. Throughout our visit to the restaurant both Salvador and our waiter visited with us. Our 11 year old was allowed to run around on the beach as it family oriented. The food was absolutely delicious and very reasonably priced. Salvador told us that the restaurant is family friendly until midnight when it turns into a bar.We will return!Hi BonnieAll I can say is wow ! what a nice review :)P.S. We´ll pass your review to Salvador, you´ll make his day !thanks !

So good. You can't go wrong here, mo matter what you order (prawns are my favourite). Three tacos should fill you or two of the steak ones (they're bigger feeds). Then use the self service toppings counter to your delight. Cool place.

I hate to say anything bad about anybody or any restaurant or establishment especially if I have not tried the food. I have eaten it all the other Bohemian style restaurants with dirt floors around here But none were quite as dirty and the smell of sewage did not help. Anybody can see from all my other reviews that I will eat just about anywhere but until they get rid of the sewage smell I would not eat there.

"Local food with vegetarian options, international cuisine and seafood"
Ordered a gyro and some shrimp tacos. Gyro was okay, although it tasted like a pastor taco, and the tzatziki was disappointing. The shrimp tacos were bland and the limeade and orangeade tasted like whats left after the ice has melted.I was expecting much more unfortunately.

We went last night and WOW! What a treat. I had âthe puercoâ and it was amazing with a delicious risotto. My wife had quinoa salad that was exquisite. The prices were good and the wine too! Thank you for a great dinner we will come back once more before the end of our stay.

We held our annual âBirthday party for everyoneâ event in the loft at Fresh. The view of Playa Zicatela was stunning, as was the sunset. Sipping a delicious margarita watching the sun melt into the horizon was surreal. The food at Fresh is delicious. Try the ceviche for sure. We enjoyed the catch of the day, jambalaya and delicious shrimp dishes. This is one of our favorite spots in Puerto.
