Things to do in Penn Yan
My wife is from Penn Yann and when we go back to visit, we are always looking for new restaurants to visit. 18th Amendment had only been open a short while when we went. The location has been restored nicely. The bar is beautiful. The brick walls have be cleaned up. Even the chairs are substantial. You can tell they put thought into everything. It appears that they sell only NY State beer, wine, and liquor. If you haven't experienced the local wines, you are missing a treat. Same with the Climbing Bine's beer on tap. The atmosphere is relaxed and not too noisy, in part because they don't have TV's, thankfully. The food menu is short and pub-like. The burger we split was delicious. The owner was on premises and everyone was very friendly and helpful. It appears that the hours are limited, so be sure to check before you go. We will be sure to return.
Nothing special on the menu, but it was served quickly, tasted good and was warm. Only drawback was we went from a quiet meal to a very loud one due to a thunderstorm which brought all the golfers into the restaurant at one time.

We stopped here for lunch and were not disappointed. My husband had an Italian sandwich which was stuffed with meat & cheese and on a roll that must have been 12" long. I had a turkey sandwich, which was also stuffed with meat. The french fries were good. The waitress was wonderful, very friendly.

We had two pizzas there while traveling in the Finger Lakes region. The food was OK, but nothing to boast about. More expensive than our favorite pizza place in the Boston area. When our server brought the bill she explained that the owner has a new system that charges a 3.7% surcharge if you use a credit care. As we were traveling and not carrying a lot of cash, we had to pay it. There was nothing said about this when we arrived, nothing on the menu and no notice on our table (we ate on the outside deck). To me, this is highly dishonest. You think you are paying one price when you order, but find you have to pay more in the end. Needless to say, we won't be back on our next trip to the Finger Lakes!

Canât see what all the hype is about with this place. So many reviewers rave about it and locals love it but I really just donât get it. The smoked brisket sandwich was so dry and tough with super greasy over cooked sweet potato fries. The Cobb salad was just OK at best. Just an average boring menu and the prices arenât much of a bargain considering the quality of food. The two cocktails we had were mostly ice and weak. Our waitress was absolutely charming and she did a fantastic job but we will not be returning. Would rather get a sandwich to go down at the local supermarket and eat it in my car with a can of wine.

We werenât expecting much from this place but we were pleasantly surprised. We both had seafood baskets (fried shrimp and clam strips) and they were both really good with generous portions, plus really good fries. Both baskets were around $10 each, which is a good value. Restaurant is really a bar first but did seem ok for kids at least during lunch. Saw lots of families eating here while we were here. Biggest complaint was seating. Not a ton of booths and high top table furniture was dated and uncomfortable.Restaurant is right in downtown Penn Yan, near the new Microtel. There is parking in the back of the restaurant.

This is a new restaurant and is on small lane off Main St in downtown Penn Yan, NY
We stopped here for dinner during a recent trip to the Finger Lakes.Timmy G's is located on a small side street off the main street of Penn Yan.......easy to find. The restaurant is fairly small, but we had no problem finding a table. Our server was extremely friendly and VERY efficient......was really on top of things and our food & drinks were delivered quite quickly.I ordered the lunch-size portion of their Homemade Lasagna as my entree. Several entrees were available in lunch or dinner size.....a great way for diners to select their portion size. A soup or salad is also included with each entree, so I selected their French Onion Soup. The soup was more of a hit than the lasagna. My spouse decided to try their Cheeseburger which came with one side dish. His burger was more medium than the medium rare temperature that he had requested, but it was still flavorful. The coleslaw was a bit tangy. If you want a bit of a local, small town atmosphere, then Timmy G's is the place you need to go.

The Water Street Wine Bar offers a premier selection of wines including several varietals from the world class Finger Lakes Region. We offer small Tapas style food menu.
If you are in the area for wine tasting you must check this wine bar out. The choice of wine and the knowledge of the staff is excellent. The food available is perfectly matched with the wines and perfect sized portions rather than the massive plates served elsewhere. We had the dates wrapped in Bacon which were stunning and I donât normally like dates! The dumplings were awesome and the flat breads so tasty. A hidden gem that you have to visit when in the area. We visited on a Thursday evening when there was no live music but I can imagine itâs a great atmosphere when a band is playing.
