Il Negromante is located in Locarno's most ancient dwelling (dating from the 14th century). A beautiful and very special terrace where you can sit in summer leads to the indoor part, which is not as traditional, but still nice (pub style). They often have live music: the gigs are attended by a friendly local crowd. Otherwise - like tonight - it's pretty quiet, and you can enjoy some really good homemade burgers. The beer selection is also very good.

After completing the circuit Centovalli train to Domodossola, train to Stresa, lunch and a long nostalgia walk around the town and the boat back to Locarno, this was a good stop for an aperitivo and light dinner. Staff were friendly and the salads very tasty. As we were in Switzerland it was a nice surprise to be served some nibbles with the spritz. Great for people watching as it is on Piazza Grande. Recommend.

Menu is very small. Food was great. It took a while to get dinner but we'll worth the wait. I will be back. Went with a group of co-workers, was a good choice.

Deep in old Locarno is the young bar. Only 5-6 table inside, good for aperitifs (they serve free buffet of nachos, cheese, olives, etc) coffee, or some fast food among friends. You go there immediately feel this is a nice, not mainstream place, run by people with passion. Very reasonable prices!
