Been many times before and always satisfied. Had the half chicken and home made chips - excellent! The wife had chicken strips with Stilton Sauce, her words âlovelyâ and yes you may have gathered she is from Workington! The two guys serving were both extremely attentive and friendly. Surprisingly busy for a Tuesday ! Free WiFi but slow.

Not only did our day out at Allonby become my puppyâs first time at the seaside but he got a bonus experience off what itâs like in a food/ bar establishment!! So fantastic a opportunity to be able to have something to eat and have the puppy with us, because leaving him in the car would be a big No!!!Chase was very well behaved throughout our meal, which was fantastic!! Visited on a cold rainy day so was the only customers in the dog friendly part off the bar which did have a little lack off heating!Food was Hot, good portions and value for money!! Slightly surprised by the kitkat as a coffee accompaniment, what a bonus!! Would recommend especially for dog owners and would definitely visit again sometime!!

Always great food and staff whenever you call. Never been disappointed. We often call in a lunch time, but best to book for Sunday lunch. Weâll be back very soon.It is always pleasing to see returning customers and to hear that once again that they enjoyed their meals. Thank you for your kind words and we hope to see you again soon.

Situated in Crosby, Maryport beside the A596 the Stag Inn is a welcoming pub and restaurant, serving great food and Cask Marque ales
Visited whilst on holiday in the area and wouldn't hesitate to go back if again in the region.Young staff very frendly and efficient. All meals were hot and tasty - my omelette in particular was exceptional. It is a shame that the restaurant area was poorly supported on a Wednesday lunch time - locals - rally round and support this pub.

Three girls, one vegetarian and she actually had a choice of Quorn nuggets or Veggie burger! The food was beautifully served and the chips were delicious. Not a scrap left on any of their slates.Friendly service and great for lounging in between activities. Great value and reasonable prices on adult menu but for Children the portions were just right for hungry 10 year old girls and I thought it was cheap.

Family run business with fantastic staff, fantastic meals and a great choice with something to suit everyone.
Nice relaxing hotel with all but 1 member of staff friendly. We were staying in the area and called in every evening for a drink. We found the barmaids friendly and got to know them but on the 3rd night which was Thursday 30th May the manager who was on served me at the bar.Taking into account we had the same drinks every night we knew the cost per round, but this manager over charged me by £3.00. When I questioned him he did not like it, and was adamant that he had charged me correctly and said that on the previous nights I had underpaid for the drinks. He wasrude and it was an embarrassment in front of other customers. He would not accept that he was wrong and gave me a copy of the till receipt. I went back to my table and checked the receipt. I found that he had charged me for a grey goose which is a premium vodka instead of grouse. If he had looked at my drink he would have seen that it was a totally different colour to vodka but he just was not interested. I spoke to Elle one of the barmaids when she came from behind the bar and showed her the receipt. She could immediately see what he had done and took the receipt to him. With this I got a refund. The annoying thing about this was he was sure he was correct even when we told him we had come in 2 previous nights and £3.00 cheaperWhen he eventually knew he was wrong he sent the £3.00 over to me. Later on he came to me and said that grey goose and grouse are together on the till and that due to his fingers being fat he had hit the wrong key. What a poor excuse.Thank you for your review. First of all let me apologise for you being overcharged. I have investigated the incident and spoken to the staff that were on that night. I am assured that it was a simple mistake ( which do happen ) and once pointed out was refunded and apologies given. I am pleased you found our hotel nice and relaxing and look forward to seeing you on your next visit to Maryport.

We had an excellent Sunday lunch. Superb setting with views over the Solway. The food was plentiful and 2 courses of quality food for under £9 is excellent value. Two quibbles. 1. The gravy had been messed with. Roast beef dinner needs traditional gravy from meat juices not a load of unnecessary spices. 2. The door needs to be fixed. It slams shut loudly every time anyone uses it...which was about 200 times during the course of our 1hr stay !

The Lowther is a traditional country pub at the heart of the village of Mawbray. Ideally situated on the beautiful Solway Coast with views to the Western fells from the child and dog friendly beer garden.
This is a place I've been meaning to go to for a while. The reviews are great on here. A workmate recently went here on his way down from Silloth and gave it the thumbs up. So finally last Sunday I got my way, and after a day with my kids decided to pay the Lowther at Mawbray a visit with my partner. I'd worked up a healthy appetite so I was looking forward to a large scrumptious Sunday roast. The waiting staff and lady at the bar were good, and the best feature of our visit. Sadly the two Sunday lunches that we ordered failed to live up to expectation. In fact we've had much better TV dinners than what we received last Sunday, and this is the first time in seven years that my partner has left a meal partly eaten due to how inedible it was. My lamb dinner could have come straight from the budget range at Lidl, and the portion that I received suggests that it may have been a TV dinner replated. Five strips of fatty lamb, a couple of small potatoes, three chunks of carrot and instant gravy that was so watery it could have been poured from a teapot. Partners beef dinner was full of gristle, and of the same mediocre quality that mine was. Cling film around the plate suggests that it was nuked in the microwave, so at least it was hot, unlike my lukewarm offering. Words really can't describe just how crap this "meal" was. Prison food would probably be nicer.Let me state that I hate to complain, I really do, and it's rare that I do. I complimented the barlady on her service, however against my better judgement (and partners wishes) I complained on the night, and although I received a slightly sympathetic ear nothing was done and I was still charged £20 for two abysmal meals. Maybe the Lowther was having an "off day". Maybe their regular chef was off. Maybe new owners have taken over. I won't be chancing it again.I rarely respond to reviews, but feel on this occasion your comments are unfair. I am sorry you did not enjoy the food at The Lowther last Sunday. The business has not changed hands in 3 years and the chef was not off. I believe you came in looking for a steak dinner, which we do not serve on a Sunday. I can assure you non of our food is microwaved so I am not sure where the 'clingfilm' came from. All our roasts are served with 3 roast potatoes, mash, 3 vegetables and Yorkshire Pudding. I also apologies that the member of staff did not inform me or the chef that you had not enjoyed your meal, but as our waitress had checked on you during the meal and you said nothing and you had both eaten all of your meals, it is our usually policy to charge for the meals.
