It is the main town in the Mansfield local government district and is a part of the Mansfield Urban Area. Nestling in a pocket within the Maun Valley surrounded by hills, the town is around 12 miles (19 km) north of Nottingham. The district of Mansfield is a largely urban area situated in the north west of Nottinghamshire populated by 99,600 residents, the vast majority of whom live in Mansfield (including Mansfield Woodhouse), with Market Warsop a secondary centre, and the remainder in the rural north of the district. Adjacent to the urban area of Sutton-in-Ashfield, Mansfield is the only major sub-regional centre in Nottinghamshire covering an area of 30 square miles (78 sq km). The Centre for Cities (2009) categorises the town as a 'small city', although it does not officially hold city status.

Lauren looked after us,her service was 1st class.Drinks order taken first then given enough time to decide on food order.The food we ordered was freshly prepared,all meals were well presented and served at the right temperature.The food was of good quality and tasty.The steaks were tender and cooked exactly to our preference..All this and value for money what more could we ask ?This restaurant has only one standard which is high and are consistent in delivering itWell Done !!

Still the mainly original décor, been like it for as long as I can remember, staff always friendly, locals ditto, always get into conversation with them, good beer, the food is excellent and top value, highly recommended. Proper old-fashioned pub - which is a rarity now.

I must say I thoroughly enjoyed my curry from the Tap Haus this afternoon, after a long days work I really fancied something different for dinner, I had seen the deal 'curry and a drink £7.95' advertised and instantly decided this was for me. I had a korma, and the taste was fantastic, something you would expect from a top class indian restaurant. Simply wonderful.I will certainly be back for more!

We were visiting Sherwood Forest and called in for lunch with no previous knowledge.Nicely greeted on entering and taken to our table.The staff were very attentive but not overbearing throughout the meal.Reasonable selection of drinks.The kitchen is open to the restaurant so you can see the food preparation area.We had various dishes from fish and chips to a tagine, all were nicely presented and very tasty.Very nice village pub/restaurant. Would recommend.

I visited The Foxglove on Sunday 20th October with my family of 6 adults and 3 children. From our arrival the welcome and service were excellent I really felt we were valued customers. Our server was Sue and she was very helpful, cheerful and accommodating. There was a wide variety of dishes to choose from including vegetarian options which 2 of our party had. The food was served quickly considering the amount of customers and everything was well cooked and hot when it arrived at the table. Sue came to the table during our meal to check that everything was OK and to ask if we needed anything, a practise sadly lacking in many restaurants these days.I have worked in the hospitality industry for over 50 yrs including owning 2 restaurants and I was very surprised at how good The Foxglove is for a âchainâ restaurant. The staff were excellent as was the food and value for money.

My husband, my grandson and I ate dinner here recently.The bar was very noisy but we were shown to the back of the pub to eat, which was far quieter. It was a Sunday, so we were able enough to take advantage of both the Sunday lunch menu and the main menu. There was lots of choice.We were all very pleased with our mains and desserts. The wine was expensive, but, overall, it was quite good value. The staff were chatty and the service spot on,Thanks for the kind review!

Booked for sunday lunch, which was delicious... I hd the beef dinner and Claire th pork.. both dinners was plentiful and excellent... Served hot... Washed down with a great bottle of red wine..... The service as always, was superb. Great staff here.....We followed on witht he Rod Stewart tribute, which was brilliant... An excellent afternoon , brilliant....

I have already rated excellent and still do. However, having dined here five times in the last couple of months, I can now comment on some of the dishes.The sizzlers, lasagne, gammon, ham and eggs, salmon and poached fish are all superb.On a personal note-Great battered cod but still had skin on.The steak pie was a casserole with a lid of fragile pastry that shattered when you tried to put your fork in it. Otherwise very tasty.The Gumbo pepperpot to me was an expensive bowl of leftovers from other items on the menu.A bigger specials board would be good as then you don't always know what you're having before you get there.On a very personal note-they don't stock newcastle brown.Hi there, Thanks so much for your review, we're glad you enjoyed us enough to pop back so many times! We hope we can continue to allow you to try more of our dishes and find some more that do suit! It is often very interesting to hear different opinions on our dishes.
