My partner and I walked specifically to the Kingâs Arms after seeing the positive reviews on tripadvisor. However, we were incredibly let down by the rudeness of the hostsWhen we arrived, it wasnât clear where the entrance was as there is an alleyway cutting the pub in two. We were the only people outside and quite clearly lost. One male staff member just walked past us twice, ignoring us.We get inside and stand at the bar. Barman ignores us and goes out. Then a lady comes behind the bar, pours some drinks for someone else and ignores us too. We were the ONLY people stood at the bar and she doesnât even make eye contact! We were still unsure if we were in the right part of the pub as no one acknowledged us.Original guy comes back, sees us looking at the menu and just says âthe food will be 30 minutesâ. No greeting, that was it. No smile. No apology for the wait or the rudeness or even a simple âHi, what can I get you?â We said we didnât have time wait so we left. In reality, we felt they did not deserve our money as we clearly were not wanted as customers.We left and went to the Italian down the road instead, where we were greeted immediately and shown to a table. Thatâs all we ask for as customers! Learn some manners! Hi Jessy, we are sorry that you were let down by the previous management and service. The Kings Arms has now relaunched under new management, with a complete refurbishment to the hotel and restaurant,. Only lived in the area for 30 years so thought it was about time to visit the Horse and Groom. Four of us came on Saturday night. Reasonable amount of parking space. Butcombes beer on the pump, a particular favourite, didnât disappoint. We had 2 duck breasts and 2 chicken covered in ham and mozzarella cheese. The food was beautiful and I can thoroughly recommend the chicken dish. The ladies had desserts and with lots of Butcombes we left about £100. Top marks to the serving team who were efficient and helpful. A pleasant experience all round and worth repeating.

Like many establishments in the area, and well it's all in the name, this is a dog friendly pub. We justt had a few drinks bit made human and canine friends almost instantly. Really friendly atmosphere in a town dripping with character. Love it!!

Having attended a LBGT meeting we decamped to the whole hog for refreshments .On entering we were greeted by a lovely man who recommended what the best beers were .There seemed to be a vibrant scene going on in the pub and we felt relaxed and mingled with the charming locals, one in particular called Campey, I may have got the spelling wrong!Finished the session off with some beautiful bangers and mash, and left with a glowing warm feeling.

I travel from Gloucestershire to have my Sunday Lunch simply because itâs the best I have ever tasted. A couple of weeks ago I took my daughter and she agreed itâs the best she has tasted.Lovely village pub with two wood burners and helpful and friendly staff. Highly recommended.

OK odd title for this review, but honest. I took my better half here for lunch, but lunch turned into 4 hours due to my car deciding it didn't want to leave the car park, but you couldn't find s better place to break down.Firstly the pub old and quirky as a village pub should be, had lots of little details that were interesting.Next the food I had a lovely steak cooked perfectly plenty of chips just perfect my better half had a huge piece of fish everything was spot on even the upside down pineapple cake for pudding was lovely, I cant fault the meal in anyway.Last but not least the staff seeing they had to put up with us for quite a while waiting for the RAC, we found them to be so friendly although Julia prob didn't notice after several cava'a and lager and limes she was more than happy to stay longer :-)Thank you we are definitely returning

The proprietors, Arthur and Janette could not have done more to make my ninetieth birthday dinner more enjoyable. From the planning stage to the night of the event, they were most helpful. Janette helped my daughter to make the table look sparkling and inviting, the food, selected in advance by our 18 guests was excellently cooked, and the wine flowed steadily. We all enjoyed a relaxed, informal evening and could not have asked for a better place to celebrate a special family occasion.I have to be honest in admitting that this is the second review covering this special occasion. Whilst the first was greatly appreciated I must also be honest in admitting that this review tops it...simply because it is from the gentleman himself. What greater praise could we ask for? I can only repeat that this was the kind of party any host would die for. Great company and we truly appreciate these very kind words. Thank you.
