Lovely country inn, the Hobsons ale was superb and the local chap I chatted to in the bar was very friendly if a trifle odd. The restaurant served me the best steak I've had in a very long time. Thoroughly recommended ! If you're using your Satnav to get there, remember that rural postcodes cover large areas. Theirs will get you to the top of Hope Bagot Lane, just keep driving until you see the pub - you can't miss it !

The only negative is the very small portion of vegetables with the meal...we had to ask for an extra portion of vegetable...Otherwise very good.Hi mumahen,Thanks for taking the time to leave us a review, I'm very pleased to hear you enjoyed your evening with us. Been three times since the attractive and sympathetic revamp! A skilful use of the available space. The food is exactly right. Sensible dishes of locally sourced food, well cooked and pleasantly served. Staff are friendly and polite. Just what is needed in the area and a great addition to the local pub scene....already very popular and deserves to flourish.

To be honest, I was expecting just pub food, what a lovely surprise to find it was way above that! Firstly the setting, overlooking the river, this place has a lovely setting. I was seriously impressed with the quality of the food, the menu wasn’t extensive but I had a choice of 3 or 4 dishes that I could eat (I am a fussy mare). The bottle of prosecco we had was lovely and the boys enjoyed the real ales on offer. All in all, an excellent find, might even consider staying here next time we visit Ludlow, having said that, whilst it isn’t very far to the centre of Ludlow, it is a heck of a hill to climb so this should be borne in mind if you have mobility issues, but definitely worth the walk if you like good quality food. I am very picky but I could find nothing negative about this place, even the chap on the next table complaining we had the last of the lamb was entertaining!

We had such a fantastic lunch at the Church Inn that we decided to stay 7 hours in this pub, drink through the afternoon as it was raining outside and have dinner. The food was lovely, the staff were wonderful especially our man Robin. It was so good we booked a table for Sunday lunch the next day as we were doing Ludlow triathlon in the morning. The roast dinner was the best and we love Robin as on Saturday he promised us extra Yorkshires as we were running in a race. He followed through. Thanks for the best weekend away Ta bab,Katy and Lucy xxx

Disappointing visit, we have never visited here before and unfortunately I do not think we will be back, we pass this place on our way to visit friends in Kingsland and thought we would treat them to some supper one evening - as neither drive these days and we thought it would be a nice treat for them. We had not booked and we dropped in off the off chance of a table and we were made to feel really uncomfortable for not booking in advance (by the owner?) The pub was not that busy with only a few tables being taken, we ordered our food enjoyed a glass of wine (which was the best part of the visit) and waited and waited! nearly an hour went past and the waitresses looking like they were there for a social catch up (and it was apparent that the waitress did not get on with the owner behind the bar, this made for a negative atmosphere) made no attempt to keep us updated or even offer to get us some more drinks from the bar - when the food did arrive it was good and obviously freshly prepared but just too long a wait and service was very poor - maybe it was just an off day but the whole experience from poor service and a very long wait will stop us visiting again.

Intimate and quiet, quality restaurant set back from the hubbub of Ludlow's main street. Whether it's a meal or just coffee etc. this is a chic little eatery ideal for couples and small groups. There's only about 10 tables, most of them upstairs, but it's nicely laid out with plenty of space and modern bistro decor.Service was quick and friendly and, although we didn't try it this time, all of the food coming out of the kitchen looked fresh and great. We'll definitely be back for something a little more substantial next time.

Booked here for a Sunday evening meal. Nice looking pub/restaurant which is on the main road and easy to find.We waited at the bar to register our arrival. The young girl serving did not acknowledge our presence the whole time we stood waiting for her to finish serving another customer. The lady who finally arrived and served us was much more pleasant. The restaurant part is nice and spacious, however you have to squeeze past people on stools at the bar to get there. Very random lighting - some tables nicely lit, but others with very harsh spot lights. Did like the fairy lights in bottles around the walls.Food was promptly served, of good portion size and tasty. Very nice cider - Appleshed. If it was warmer we would have sat out in what looked like a lovely beer garden for more drinks.

Firstly, be aware that there's very limited parking in the vicinity of the restaurant, so if you're unfamiliar with the town, do some searching for the nearest public parking. It's a beautiful building with lots of small inter-connected rooms, some more appealing than others; ideally you want to be in the font room where the bar is.All the staff were friendly, but professional and attentive, although there was one server who was a little intense and might do better if they just relaxed a little. The Sunday lunch menu is fixed choice - but what lovely choices they are, especially the desserts.Beef, pork, lamb or fish (cod) with beautifully roasted potatoes and a bowl full of freshly steamed vegetables. We chose meats, so can't tell you what the cod comes with, but the gravy was wonderfully homemade and rich in flavour. The stuffing that accompanied the pork was equally tasty and rich, but the steamed veg were unseasoned and therefore rather bland in comparison.Rather disappointing, however, was the quantity and quality of the pork. No crackling, no tasty chunks of shoulder or belly. Instead, thin slices of nondescript meat from an indeterminable area of pig, smothered in gravy to possibly disguise the paucity of taste and texture. To end on a positive, the Yorkshires were excellent. We'd sidestepped the starters in order to have room for dessert, and we'd made the right decision. The homemade Bread (brioche) pudding served with homemade custard was the highlight of the meal. Made fresh and cooked as individual, generous portions, it's worth saving room for. The Banana Fritters were pleasant, but overwhelmed by the taste of the batter.Overall, one of the better Sunday lunches I've had, and certainly value for money. Just a shame about the one or two touches as mentioned in the review.
