This canalside pub serves up hearty food, traditional ales and wonderful views over the water. Located beside Lock 28 of the Grand Union Canal, it's a shining example of a great English local pub.
Amazing food, great gin and top quality service. The place was busy and buzzy. Our waiter had a great sense of humour. The menu and specials were spot onThe wine list was well pricedWe didn't have to wait long from order to meal on the table.

Traditional pub, showing Sky Sports & BT Sport. Great selection of food including breakfasts, burgers and steaks from local butchers. Wide range of vegan and veggie options too. Our music-themed garden bar is known as the Sound-Garden. With regular live m
The Golden Bell offers 2 Pub Classics meals for £10. Surely a meal for a fiver canât be any good? Well let me tell you that itâs not just good, itâs very good indeed. We called in at Sunday lunchtime and had the large Yorkshire pudding filled with potatoes, veg, roast beef and served with a jug of gravy. Delicious! Itâs like a Sunday roast for a fraction of the price elsewhere. Real ale is in good condition too. Friendly staff.

A chance stop gave us an excellent meal. The roast lamb was thick cut which I like and the vegetables were superb, especially perfectly cooked carrots. My wifeâs roast beef was cut too thick for her taste but was cooked as she liked it. Nice to see meat that is hand carved though and cooked to our taste. The beer was good and the service quiet and unobtrusive.

Pre booked with friends for the 3 course festive menu. Excellent food, superb service and an all round great evening. I highly recommend the Christmas menu if you have time this side of Christmas. If not, there's always next year. We will most certainly be going back.

The Ship is my local and living here for 6yrs now pop in several times over the year for a lunch or dinner. In the past I highly recommended this place to the point my mum has started using it for family events. So tonight Tuesday I had been at work and not eaten all day, so treated the other half to dinner, on arrival we were sat promptly with drinks ordered and meal ordered very quickly. Great we thought service was better than my mums last family meal there in August to which I have not left a review! Back to the meal today, it arrived quickly and tasted good then..... are plates were cleared and for 20mins not one member of staff asked if we wanted a dessert menu or if we wanted anything else. To feel like we were ignored and more for the fact we were seated right next to the till. Eventually I asked for the bill as I had lost patience and asked the waitress if they had run out of desserts. No she said we have plenty would you like one. I'm sorry but how stupid does a member of staff have to be nowadays. I said after being ignored for 20mins I'm done and going home. Paid and left. Hello, Thank you for your feedback on your visit with us. I am really sorry that you didn't have a good experience with us and we would love to rectify this. If you could call us on 01525 382858 or email us at [email protected] and state your visit. Kind regards The ship

We went to the Dukes yesterday for Mothers day with my Wife and Rosemary/Mother In-law. The restaurant was busy and we enjoyed a pre-drink from the well stocked bar served by the friendly staff The restaurant is in a Sun-lounge which was airy and light. The Mothersday menu has a good choice of starters, mains and deserts. I went for the 2 course option of Salmon and Lemon Sorbet. All of us thoroughly enjoyed our meals, being served quickly by Cristian and his friendly team We thoroughly enjoyed the meal and visit to this quality, friendly and quaint Bar & restaurant - will definitely be going back and highly recommended Thank you Anne, Nicola, Rosemary and Stephen

I see that it's a whole year since I visited The Queens; that's far too long. Had a wonderful celebratory dinner where Simon's legendary steak pudding was just one of the dishes eagerly consumed by our party. I gather it's so popular they dare not take it off the menu! Lovely friendly service, fabulous food as ever and at very reasonable prices. I know that the management doesn't put itself in the "fine dining" category, but I do! Oh, and the place was heaving with locals too so you know it's definitely the place to be. Why go elsewhere?

Stacey and Dave welcome you to The Plough Inn, Wingfield. Situated in the hamlet of Wingfield, within the parish of Chalgrave in Bedfordshire, The Plough Inn is a pretty, thatched country pub with a lovely atmosphere, low ceilings, oak beams and an open f
What can I say about the Plough at Wingfield, my mate told me we were going to the Plough Inn and I thought he was kidding as I use to live there, but my one was in Simpson. We both really enjoyed our visit and the food was very good, the people were friendly and as I use to live in a pub one of the first things I do is check behind the bar, from this you can judge how it is run, no dust on the bottles, good space between them and the shelves were clear so the owners really take pride in the Pub.Just wish they served CHINESE CURRY instead of COCONUT THAI CURRY, can't stand Coconut curry. Will definitely return.

In our bar and restaurant we serve a varied menu of delicious home cooked traditional Fayre. All our food is prepared using fresh and locally sourced, high quality produce. On a Sunday enjoy our traditional Sunday Roast served from 12 noon until 4pm. In o
Stayed for 2 nights (writing this on my last night, sat still hungry in my room!)First night meal was good actually, though service was a bit haphazard given I was one of only about 4 people in the place. Tonight different story, place was packed (turns out itâs quiz night), so even worse service, followed by the absolute worst steak Iâve ever been served (hint: either buy better quality or invest in steak knives because theyâre inedible and impossible to cut otherwise), joined with the least peppercorny peppercorn sauce (at least if the sauce was good it would have masked the crap steak a bit). It was also just this side of Luke warm. Given the waitress was also the barmaid I can appreciate she was struggling. Impossible to complain as I never saw her back at the table so after 30 mins just left the whole lot congealing on the plate while I waited patiently at the bar for another 20 mins being ignored just to pay for the crappy food I didnât eat. As you can tell, Iâm grumpy when Iâm hungry. Would be good if they just explained that a quiz was due, especially when the quiz master said that the quiz would have to be delayed as âapparently people are still eatingâ like we were bloody pariahs or something. Unimpressed.Thank you for taking the time to share your views with us.I am sorry you did not enjoy your dining experience with us. We were unusually very busy for our quiz night and therefor our bar team were extremely busy.We have had lots of glowing comments about our food including our steaks so I am disappointed that you did not enjoy yours. I am sorry that the waitress was not able to check on your meal once you had been served, due to how busy we were. Had you have mentioned your disappointment to the bar man when paying, we would most certainly have offered to cook you another steak and bring it to your room or taken it off your bill.We value all comments both good and not so good so thank you once again for taking the time to review us.Kind regardsTracy BalenOwner
