The whole idea of the George Bar and Grill is to create a relaxed environment without dropping standards when it comes to the quality of our food or bar. We are really proud of the excellent rapport our staff build with our customers and the service they
Myself and fiancée visited the George and we were totally amazed by everything. I booked a table although we arrived half an hour early the staff were happy to sit us at our table, the waiter we had couldn't do enough for us. The portion was more than big enough. The food was amazing, the customer service was amazing, everything was just amazing! Thank you everyone, we will return the next time we are in Weymouth!

We, at our National British Pie Award winning Handmade Pie & Ale House are setting out to create the most premium of pies and to serve the most traditional, tastiest constantly changing ales, of which we always have some local and some from various parts
Have always said that we would visit this restaurant for the last year and upon hearing it will be shutting down we thought we would come before it closes.Great atmosphere and friendly staff. All the pies on the menu sounded really good but eventually opted for the valentineâs one. What a great choice. It was stunning. My god were we all stuffed. Struggled to finish it but it was too good to leave. May I add that we were a party of 5 and they accommodated us despite not having a reservation so thank you for that. The score of four is because we had ordered mozzarella sticks which came with no mozzarella but the issue was quickly resolved. The bill was asked for twice when eventually one of us went to the bar to pay. That did not put is off though, the whole meal was brilliant and hopefully we can return before they shut.

We popped in for lunch just wanted something smallish. I fancied a brie & bacon pannini they didn't have one on the menu but happily made me on in a white baguette (would have liked brown) . My husband had a burger. The portions are big, bacon wasn't crispy v fatty & burger was very average just lots of chips. The food is homemade and staff are lovely, but I do think they could get better quality ingredients to match the price they charge. It feels like a dark bingo hall inside, bit dingy.

Great location and friendly service - but food a let down hardly what you might expect from a carvery the only veg carrots- cabbage- cauliflower -and roast potatoes (not crispy) We had roast beef which was quite tough .However it did cost only £9.95- perhaps charge more and improve the meal quality.

Tried twice to eat here as very local to our holiday rental. First was a Sunday, told no food after 5 desire a notice outside saying food available. On Monday night we were told fish & chips only as "we didn't get our delivery today" so on the grounds of no food available despite an outside menu and the all day food board I have to say don't bother.Hi Dee I am so sorry about your poor experience at the little ship, we as new owner have just taken over and food will be served 7 days a week 12-3pm and 5-9pm Monday-Friday 12-9pm Saturday and 12-5pm Sunday, we would love for you to try the little ship as we have and still are making massive chances for the better. Kind RegardsChris Owner

Landlady needs some tuition in basic kitchen skills and general manners. The chips have to be seen to be believed, soggy, greasy, floppy and unpeeled. Roasts are usually like warm. The beer is All bad as the pipes never get cleaned!Together with her outspoken racism and a confederate flag above the bar to match her fascist attitude. The garden is very nice but the benches and playground are all rotten and should be condemned! On the plus side they do a fine range of crisps and "Shakeys" scratchings.

Disgusted. After a very enjoyable visit we decided to take the Sunday carvery lunch and enjoy the magnificent Chisel vista. On arrival in the restaurant we were immediately declined by a very direct, impolite and stereotype welcoming by a very immature young waitress. The waitress clearly had no people skills and very boring, but well rehearsed statement before she had the decency to ask if we were residents at the hotel and would like a table. This was very impolite and the reasoning was unprofessional. She then had the cheek by suggested we could come back after 2pm but limited menu and still no promise of a table. We were so looking forward to the lunch as the highlight at 12:30, after considering we left. Our only conclusion was the restaurant carvery and staff could not cope with limited catering. The only option given was sandwiches, tea, coffee or bar service in the bar as an option from the bar menu. Would not stay or dine again... ... . Very upsetting experience... ... .Thank you for your feedback, we'd like to respond to some of your comments. We don't agree that our staff were impolite with you today. It is indeed true that we would always ask potential diners whether they are staying with us, since they may have booked to dine after having checked-in. If you yourself had booked, you may also appreciate us making sure that no-one was going to take your table. Unfortunately, since you hadn't booked, this resulted in you not being able to get the table you had hoped for. Sunday carvery is a busy and popular occasion for us, and we're sorry if we couldn't meet your expectations on this occasion. Rather than lose your business entirely, we are pleased that our colleague was able to offer possible alternative dining options, to ensure that you were still able to enjoy the views as you mentioned. However, since you chose not to take this option, or even dine with us at all, there was little else we could do. For the sake of clarity, we should point out that it wasn't a matter of being unable to cope, but more a case of not having a free table in the bistro to accommodate you for our carvery. We hope this better explains the situation to other potential guests reading this, and that you'll not be deterred from visiting us again in the future. Be sure to book, to avoid disappointment next time. We look forward to welcoming you back in due course.

Pub right on the front so you can look out on Chesil beach while you eat. Was impressed that the staff took our order after 2.30pm as we were really hungry and tired after walking round Portland. The food was quick and we enjoyed it. Reasonable priced and good choice on menu. Worth a visit.

We found this fantastic pub whilst on holiday last year and decided to go again this year. After driving over from Bournemouth (it was a long drive!) we were not disappointed. A warm welcome from the friendly staff, and our drinks order was swiftly brought to the table along with menus. After making our food choice, and being asked all the usual questions (chips/veg/salad etc), we sat back to enjoy our surroundings. Other diners were enjoying their meals and the atmosphere was calm and relaxed. Unfortunately two male diners decided that they were not happy with the food or service, being quite vocal and, we thought, rather offensive towards the young lady who was trying her best to meet their demands. When the two males walked out the rest of the diners all commented on their unreasonable behaviour! Our food arrived and was cooked perfectly and was great portion sizes. Even though we were quite full after our main course, we had to have desserts - they were so good it would have been rude not to.If you want silver service and small portions go to Claridges. If you want good quality home cooking in a warm and welcoming environ, go to the Eight Kings.
