Great local pub, with food far above standard "pub fare". The Guinness was top shelf, as was the food, the locals at the bar, the bartender and the guy playing guitar. So glad I visited this place.

While many restaurants started adding tofu or tempeh or one of the new meat alternatives like Gardein, Beyond Meat, or Field Roast, Salt dropped all but one of their vegetarian dishes.Long gone are the days of ordering âGeneral Tonyâs Tofuâ As well as the other vegetarian and made to order vegan favorites.Whatâs left? Tofu Burger â $10.50which uses potato/starch as its thickening agent (whereâs the tofu? ...the black bean?) with cheddar cheese on a (brioche?) roll, and served with a side of sriracha aioli and hand cut fries. If you love cheese, it is added by the âtwo pound quantityâ in all of the dishes. Try their potato soup, which should be called cheese soup with bacon bits.Times are bad at Salt right now.

I really try and like Salt. I live near by so itâs convenient. I recently went here with my family. I ordered a special, pork osobuco, and my wife had a chicken dish. My kids ordered macaroni with butter. Pretty simple, I thought. My pork special was a very small portion and over cooked. My wifeâs chicken looked like orange mashed potatoes and my kids macaroni....well they cooked the pasta in a frying pan and it was burnt. If I didnât have a gift card I would have been pretty upset. The service was average and the atmosphere is pub like, nothing special. I know that their beer selection is good and at night they have entertainment. Iâll probably not come back for food but maybe some adult beverages.

The exact origin of the name Hopatcong is unknown, though it is most commonly attributed to the Lenape Indian word for "stone water," or "stone over water". Paying tribute to Lake Hopatcong's Lenape Indian roots, Stone Water is the region's newest lakefro
Beautiful view on the lake. Great, yea, almost perfect Filet. Should have waved a flag or napkin to get wait staffâs attention. We waited for 30 minutes after being seated to get water. Neither the bus staff nor wait staff came back to ask to refill our waters for the next hour while we were eating. The restaurant was not full. Wifeâs burger was mediocre. My Filet Mignon was really good. Would I go back?⦠possibly to give it one more chance.

Stop in the Taphouse 15 for dinner. We were seated quickly. Our server was friend and answered every question we had. We both had a fish dish, salmon and cod. The salmon was good, but my cod wasn't as good as I thought it would be. I have to try the pizza if I stop in again.

American cuisine by our Chef and team. Our newly renovated interior offers customers a bright airy dining room overlooking Lake Hopatcong - with an open air/glass enclosed porch closest to the water. Downstairs we have the Big Fish Lounge with 7 tvs, dart
So I have been a fan of this place for many years. Some times change is not good. What happened to the creative menu? Gone! There is nothing on that menu that is interesting or gourmet. Its same old thing everyone else is serving. The reason I went to Alice's was to try something different which I was always satisfied with. Shame they sold out. Guess I'll be going to Stonewater. They lost a really good customer. By the way food is mediocre at best. Don't expect the same quality.Thank you for sharing your opinion with us. Our new menu does have a more casual theme. And even though you aren't fond of the changes - we are very excited. Let me explain. Alice's original concept was "casual" yet, we spent years experimenting with the notion of offering complex multi-tiered presentations from the kitchen. As a customer you probably noticed our seasonal menu would offer more complex dishes in winter (when volume was lower) and less complex in summer (when volume was high). However, our trials resulted in failure. Basically, our entire facility is not equipped for the 3 to 4 pan meals which are very complex and require many steps and ingredients from a the line. This inadequacy put amazing stress on our talented kitchen staff resulting mostly in spotty results which we felt was cannibalizing our customer base. Nothing loses a customer more than long ticket times, sold-out menu items, inconsistent preparation and presentation - all of which we were struggling with.We needed to admit what we were attempting to do was not working. Since we cannot build a bigger kitchen - we had to simplify the menu - which took quite a lot of planning and reflection. The change was not, as you note, a sell out. The change was to fix a broken formula which consistently disappointed patrons and ran costs through the roof and put undo stress on our staff. The new menu (which features our most successful menu items and specials we have served over the years) has enabled our kitchen to produce more reliable product with reasonable ticket times. We wanted our wait staff to be less burdened with customer complaints and focus on their job of serving happy customers. Our dedication to an above average (if not great) dining experience is stronger than ever. We believe that casual food does not need to be cheap or insulting - it is just casual. Our menu and the ingredients we offer are under constant scrutiny for customer enjoyment and quality for price. We are not selling out.Once the heavy volume summer season is behind us - we will be offering specials which will reflect the skill and talent of our kitchen staff. Customers will see many items that they recognize. Offering these as specials is a great solution as we can plan and prepare these items with utmost control over quality and production that will please customers and not sink our kitchen operations. While we are sorry that you claim you will not be back - we hope that you reconsider one day. As a side note, Stonewater is a lovely place with a large kitchen and staff too match. I think that is a fine location for more gourmet type of presentation you are after.

Nice Atmosphere. Pleasant staff. Well made and well priced bar offerings including quite a nice assortment of on tap selections including a super fresh Irish Smithwickâs!!!!All 4 of us were very pleased with our dinners but the winner of the night was my wifeâs choice of a really excellent fresh fish-n-chips!If they could just do something to address the terrible acoustics ( Really Bad - literally could not hear what someone sitting across from you was saying!!!!) and a very tough parking situation- the rating here would have been excellent.

They keep the prices low by requiring everyone to buy a drink. You can buy anything from water to cosmos to wine to beer. The lobster is the big hit here as are the dozen clams that come with it. These clams are the bigger ones - - a little too chewy for my taste but for the price, who could argue! Just bring CASH!!!!!

We went to the windlass for a large party birthday celebration. The service was good considering we were a group of 20 with individual orders. We had the short rib special which was the best weâve ever had. Would also recommend the teriyaki wings and calamari for appetizer. Thank you for your review! The ribs are great.
