Reviews on Bar food in Harlow, England, United Kingdom. Harlow is a former Mark One New Town and local government district in the west of Essex, England. Situated on the border with Hertfordshire, it occupies a large area of land on the south bank of the upper Stort Valley, which has been made navigable through other towns and features a canal section near its watermill. Old Harlow is a village-size suburb founded by the early medieval age and most of its high street buildings are early Victorian and residential, mostly protected by one of the Conservation Areas in the district. In Old Harlow is a field named Harlowbury, a de-settled monastic area which has the remains of a chapel, a scheduled ancient monument.

Situated in peaceful Old Harlow, The Green Man is a historic 14th century Jacobean style inn. The Green Man is evidence Harlow was once a thriving station for horse drawn coaches to and from London. This charming country pub restaurant sits on pretty haml

We had our Christmas meal for 22 friends last night at the Crusader Roydon. What a wonderful memorable night it was. We had our own area with one long table, beautifully decorated and our very own Christmas tree. The food was wonderful and a variety of choices, nothing was to much trouble for the efficient staff. Canât wait to go back.Dear Carolem2513,Thank you for taking the time to leave such a lovely review. Wow what a lovely lovely pub. As soon as we walked in we knew it would be good, we could smell the wood burner and hear kids giggling and people chatting, such a lovely atmosphere. The staff were excellent and took the time to explain things on the menu for us and talk us through our drink choices. The food was absolutely wonderful, simple but tasty and very well presented - they could easily charge twice as much and i'd happily pay for it.

Welcome to The Hand & Crown Our 16th Century Inn is the oldest Inn in Hertfordshire and is famous for itâs warm welcome and delicious home-made food. We pride ourselves on our delicious and freshly cooked home-made food. Our meat and fish is sourced daily
We went for Sunday dinner, really good varied menu. Roar beep was lovely and hubby went for the chicken pie, all really good. Had our two children with us, no childrenâs menu but they accommodated them with half portions and off the dinner menus. Would highly recommend, service is spot on.Thank you for your feedback. We pride ourselves on the quality of our food and service. Whilst we do not have a childrenâs menu we are always happy to cater for children and offer half portions. We are so glad to hear the family enjoyed this! We look forward to seeing you back.

Waited an age to be served a drink. Then called âdarlingâ every second word. Bar staff spent more time chatting than assisting. Meal was fine (only fine not great) when it eventually arrived. Sweet menu when requested after a very long pause was dumped at the end of the table and waitress just walked off. The content of the sweet menu resembled BOGOF section in Tesco - nothing home made......as this was an 80th birthday celebration we were left very disappointed....

We are a friendly country pub doing fine food. Great garden dining. Book early to avoid disappointment.
My son in law booked the John barley corn for my daughters 30th birthday, we arrived early and as table wasn't ready we sat in garden with a drink, the staff didn't inform us table was ready so after a little wait son in law went and asked and it was ready, we saw ourselves to table and sat down, no one came to take drink orders so we went to bar ourselves and after twice asking for menus a member of staff brought them over. We had 4 children in party but member of staff didn't mention children's menu after us mentioning children's portions ( we later found children's menu in with dessert menu????) to late at that time. After a little wait they came and took orders, our starters arrived promptly and I can honestly say were delicious and plentiful after another little wait our mains arrived minus one which after mentioning didn't take that long to arrive( I do feel that staff didn't explain the vegetable and potato options which accompany the meals) the manager did come and apologise to us saying they were short staffed and that we could have a round of drinks on the house which I felt was fair, we all enjoyed our large and delicious meals. After a little wait again we ordered our desserts when they came out they had forgotten mine so had to find member of staff which when brought out I received no apology. I do feel that the staff need extra training for when restaurant is busy. I will not let this visit stop me visiting again as food was delicious but do feel it spoilt my daughters birthday mealWe are sorry you had some issues with your recent visit. For that we can only offer our apologies. As you saw we were short staffed and fully booked. We are glad that the food was enjoyed by all. It is shame that you were not offered the childrens menu at the time but do hope to see you soon.

Dropped in on the way to Stansted Airport, were looking for lunch on a Monday and had some time to spare. Was a distance from the M11 and possibly is overlooked as there is another pub on the corner of the lane leading to the Moor Hen (closed on a Monday). Large car park, could see various activities for younger people and canal boats moored up. The garden area is probably very busy in the summer. Dinning is upstairs, plenty of room for us (5 eating), extensive menu (suiting all tastes) and wide range of drinks. Lunch time it is 2 for 1 on a range of meals. We were seated promptly and given our menus. We ordered drinks and meals. All came promptly and well presented. The Mac n'cheese (with bacon) was enjoyed, I liked my hunters chicken and Mr S enjoyed his steak and ale pie. Cant fault the service or the value. Would definitely return, and worth the detour to avoid Birchanger fast food. Jordon was our server and looked after us well.Hi juliasJ111OT,Wow, what a lovely review! Our team here work extremely hard to deliver our guests a great experience and we are delighted to hear that your visit lived up to your expectations and oursI will make sure this feedback is shared with the whole team, especially our amazing chefs and Jordan, who looked after you so well.We would like to get some more feedback to try and see what we could have improved on to change your review to a 5* one. Please feel free to call us on 01279 423066 if we can be of any assistance in the future or just pop in next time you are passing through.Thank you so much for taking the time to write this lovely review, we hope to see you again soon.

Disappointed with our meal as the vegetarian option was Poor with just halloumi fries. Couldnât actually see a vegan option which was advertised on their website. Disappointing and to make matters worse there was no Ale just lager! Hi Jenlen617Thank you for your review. We are sorry you felt disappointed with your visit to the DM. We actually have a vegetarian option which is currently the handmade gnocchi with spinach and chesnut mushrooms but the halloumi option is not vegetarian. Vegan options are available on request. As we are not a vegetarian/vegan restaurant we tend not to focus all our efforts on these dishes. We have only recently stopped selling real ale as our turnover of these is not high enough to keep it fresh which you would appreciate so we have opted for two ales on draught from rivertown brewing in Hertford, an I.P.A and a pale ale and soon we'll be putting in an A.P.A.We hope this helps and we would like to see you again so we can leave you with a better impression of us.Best regardsChristopher Cleary

Six of us had a meal on a Sunday lunch time. Vegan options didn't look exciting but the food when served was delicious. We had the bruchetta sharing platter to start then two of us had pasta and one a burger. The carnivores had excellent choices and all through my enjoyed. Staff were very friendly and so helpful. Thoroughly recommend. Would suggest a vegan roast option should be added to the menu. Thanks for the kind review! We're glad you enjoyed the food! Always happy to accommodate carnivores and herbivores alike.Hope to see you again soon.Kind Regards,Donal
